Yea this volt mod @ the OP settings works ok for games like Wc3 TFT and the such, but with high end games like MW2 and Crysis you will get crashes as those games require max GPU load and that voltage just isn't enough.

Has anyone tried lower the voltages of the lower 3 profiles to something less than .9V? I would think that for 2D the voltages could be set really low.

I have a 7811FX and I get overheating-related crashes like a lot of other people. I've tried every fix out there (including various RivaTuner shenanigans) but have only ever found partial success; this GPU undervolting is the only thing left I can try but I'm not completely confident that I fully understand the process.

I can't use the instructions in the OP because nvflash gives a compatibility error for the 7811FX, and I can't follow zolidznake's alternate instructions on page 14 to the letter because I haven't the slightest idea of how to get a hold of a copy of my own BIOS. Forsaken123 apparently has a collection of some of zolidznake's mods over here which might let me skip to the end of that whole process, but those were made from 9C.10.00 and I'm currently running 9C.05.00, so I'm not sure if they're safe to use. I tried upgrading to 9C.10.00 myself via a win32 executable, but it insisted that I was reverting to an older version; that didn't make much sense so I panicked and canceled it.

I've never flashed a BIOS before and I know it can brick your computer if you do it wrong, so I'm afraid to do anything without knowing for sure that it won't cause a problem. Could anybody give me a quick confirmation as to how I can safely proceed from this point?

Hi ONE_J can you send me a 9c.17.00 .95v files for the 7811? I tried so many times and all the links I've found around this forum are dead.
    My email is [email protected]
    Thanks.

One_J, has there been a way yet to flash the VGA bios directly? I want to be able to test out my own voltages, but I don't want to bother you with bios requests. Also, I don't trust myself to not make any mistakes. I think I have seen some VGA BIOSes from this card floating around the internet, but I don't know how people got them.

Another question, isn't NVFlash developed by NVidia? And if so, couldn't I just ask them if they have a working version?

Hi ONE_J can you send me a .95v or 1.0v files for the 7811? I tried all links but they are broken. I also tried editing the bios myself but for some reason the video card is still at 1.11v. My email is [email protected]. Thanks in advance

My temps run a little high while gaming, I already have the laptop elevated and the fans are free, so I decided to undervolt it. I was just wondering whether, with my 9800m GTS at stock clocks, if I can run the Extra voltage at .94 or .96 and be stable; I know some people had crashes at those voltages when OCed, but I didn't read anything about at stock. And I also wanted to know whether it is normal for nibitor to say my P-7805u's 9800m GTS is a 9800mt GT 1GB?

I'm getting an error when trying to flash bios. I've tried a lot of version of nvflash, many bioses. But i'm still having same error.
    PHP:
    Identifying EEPROM...
    EEPROM ID (20,00FF) : Unknown

    ERROR
    Supported EEPROM not found
Any command i use, im only getting this error. Can some one explain that problem? Or solutions or any ideas? I've searched a lot, but found nothing. Need help.

    Sorry for my English. :)

If you have an eeprom error something else is amiss. I know of the WMD error but the eeprom should be recognized by all of the standard bioses unless you are running say the PB board or something like that. On that note it is a gateway P78xx correct.............

Edit; what bios version do you have?

    what is PB board?
Currently i'm running on .17 bios. I was trying to flash bios under .07 bios, but this error still occurs. :(

Memory protection? --emm, sorry i'm noob at this, what is memory protection? Do you mean in-bios protection? If thats what you mean, i use command --protectoff, but this error still occurs.

In bios there is a execute protection, yes.................

Edit; enter bios and under advanced be sure it is disabled. This may not be your issue but it is something to try.............

It was enabled, i tick disable, but it didn't help. I'm very dissapointed. :(
I've found a way to decrease voltage w/o flashing bios. Just installed latest Beta drivers (195. 51 i think) and voltage decreased from 1.11 to 0.9. But only in 2D, 2D desktop, 3D, but not in 3D application. :(
Is there is a way to force games to use only 3D in 0.9 voltage, and just simply overclock 3D to 3D applications clocks?

Since Psyauto so graciously sold me his P7811FX board, I have been seeking to lower the voltage to the GPU as well. Running The Witcher, I have gotten the temp up to 95 degrees and that has me a little worried.

I have tried every method out there to lower the voltage including using Phoenix Bios Editor to strip out the GPU bios, NiHibitor to modify the GPU bios and PBE to reassemble it. Then found out that it only changes values and not the actual hardware voltage.

I have tried Powermizer and it just makes it default to 1.12v or back to normal where it bounces between 0.90v and 1.12v.

The only option I see is to run the laptop on the battery all the time so it defaults to 0.90v. Stop gaming after it drains out, then fill it up again, then rinse & repeat.

Those temps are extremely high. Is this at stock clocks? Have you tried cleaning and or reapplying the TIM with ICD?

Oh yeah. The computer has been cleaned extensively. Most of the time it is running in the 75 degree range, but it did peak at 95 degrees for a moment. I turned off anti-aliasing too just as a precaution. Its got fresh Arctic Silver on it and it is running at stock clocks.

EDIT: Now I know that The Witcher is a video card challenger so I decided to just lower the settings to LOW. Made all the difference. Now it runs at a max 65 degrees. No, its not as pretty, but I can game in the living room now. I may play with some of the details. There are some scenes that just push the video to the max, like when walking through the Fields in chapter IV. The wheat swaying in the wind is pretty demanding.

I would really love to figure out how to volt mod this thing though.

I saw ONE_J's warning not to tamper with the DeviceID, but Nibitor detects the DeviceID of the BIOS as belonging to a 9800m GT 1GB, while I own a 9800m GTS 1GB, is it safe to flash it?
