How do you know they really repasted it lol.

I guess I could check this weekend. But I would trust that they would have done it if I paid them to do it. Lol. -

Hi,
I'm new on the forum and new since last week with the x7 pro. I haven't had much time to test it other than a bit of photoshopping. The laptop really does get hot often and I think the fans spins up a bit too often at relatively small tasks.Last edited: Mar 12, 2015Cormogram likes this. -

Anyone else got problems with displaydriver stop responding at 3Dmark-test? I tried to enable SLI for the first time yesterday and was about to run some 3Dmark-test to check the noise and temperatures. It ran fine with 1 card but with SLI the driver crasches at the start of the test.
Have not tried any games yet.
I have the latest BETA-driver from Aorus.
Have not tried to reinstall the drivers nor trying the not-beta-driver.
CPU and GPU temp was never over 80 degrees C, so it should not be temperature-related I think. -

Ok, I think something is wrong here.
Single GPU runs just fine. As soon as i enable SLI and run some left 4 dead 2. I get artifacts over the screen. And it will crash in a minute. 3dmark firestrike is flickering like crazy and will crash after a couple of seconds.
Can this really be sowftware-related or is this computer faulty?
I have uninstalled the graphics drivers and installed the latest from geforce experience. -

try other games besides left for dead?
chatted with Aorus via facebook. Concerning overheating, they recommended turning fan to maximum if certain games specifically tax the CPU (for me its evolve and sleeping dogs, other games I can run forever and the CPU never goes over 88). They also said they have another bios update coming down the pipe soon. -
I have a question...
One of the reasons why I want this laptop is because it brings almost unrivaled, portable performance. I frequently go to my friends' places and I don't want to be carrying around a 50lbs+ desktop and monitors (been there, done that) so I'm opting for a laptop. However, when I AM gaming at home, I like to game like a king. I want to plug three external monitors into this laptop (with a mouse and keyboard obviously) and use it like that. Do you think this game could run games at 5760*1080? If not, it's not a big deal, mostly just wishful thinking. But I currently have a less-serious gaming laptop with a single 760m 2GB and while having two monitors plugged in, it's sometimes hard to get 60 FPS in a game like LoL if something like a YouTube video is playing on the other monitor....
Thanks for the help! -

You already answer your own question...
About 5760*1080, won´t be capable if you set everything at max.
It is the best performance in a slim chassis. -
I wanted the same as you. Ultimate portability, play like a king (or close to it) at home. Ease of use moving it upstairs to the office to game, or downstairs to sit in the living room to watch TV and either game or surf the web.
I haven't tried your resolution with 3 monitors, but in the office, I use an LG Ultrawide monitor and run games max at 3440*1440 with no problems. Recent games I play are Dying Light and Shadow of Mordor. GTA is coming soon, so will test that too. And sitting in front of the TV downstairs, the system is virtually silent doing anything but gaming. Just know that gaming you will hear those fans, but not a big deal to me when sitting in the office with the speakers playing or with headsets. -
In all seriousness, I'm not sure. The GT80 Titan starts at like $3,300 but has like 80% of the power of dual 980 desktop cards in SLI...more than enough power to play most, if not all games at max at 5760*1080...Maybe I'll just get both...
I wish. -
Now those issues could have been solved since I was last over there either through a Bios update or those that mentioned it may have had a faulty unit (early units). But check them out.
At the time, I felt having the thinner, sexier looking (in my opinion) laptop won out over the mechanical keys. Also loud is relative. Even thought the Titan is loud, it may be quieter than the Aorus or vice versa since I didn't see if anyone had tried/listen to both. -
Hey everyone, I see there hasn't been any movement on these forums so I figured I'd tried to spark things back to life a bit...
How's everybody enjoying their X7 Pro's? Have any new BIOS updates helped with the heat/noise? -
Well, I haven't updated my system since I got it. I'm waiting for someone to say, "This update just made everything great!" Then I'll update.
So any day now. -
Does anyone know if it's possible to enable USB fast charging on the Aorus? This slow trickle charge is a little inconvenient when I'm travelling with my other devices - trying not to bring another adaptor. Both the Gigabyte and Asus drivers don't seem to work on this machine.

Hey, x7 Pro owners out there; do any of you own GTA V? Can you post some benchmarks?
-
I just did a Windows update last night and now my touch-pad stopped working. The mouse pointer comes up frozen at center screen. I tried re-installing the driver, etc. Anyone else experiencing this behavior? In device manager, elan input device is showing with a yellow triangle exclamation point and error "The device cannot start. (Code 10)". The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device.
-
Fixed. I just uninstalled and removed the driver via device manager (11.14.8.1). Now the Aorus driver update tool shows no version in touchpad. I downloaded and installed nb-driver-x7v2-win7-win8.1-64bit-touchpad-11.14.6.1 and then rebooted and now touchpad is working. Still shows no version in Aorus update tool, but device manager shows ELAN PS/2 Port Input Device as working perfectly (shows as 11.14.6.1 in device manager).

figured it out. Has anyone been able to fix the sound pop/crackling the speakers sometimes give out?

I had the same problem, but they seem to have replaced the download with a new version that does not ask for a password. It would be good if they would post release notes on the website so we could see the reasons for the change.
I am a big fan of this laptop, having used it now for about 5 months. The only thing I changed was to pop an extra SSD into it. Very straight-forward fit and the Intel RAID manager expanded the partition without having to reinstall anything. I had to delete the recovery partition so that the spare space on the new drive was adjacent to the boot partition. Read/write bumped up from about 730 to just over 1000 and it feels slightly faster in normal use.
I have also had some fantastic support from the guys at Gigabyte/G-Style and Overclockers UK after ending up with a problematic PSU.HaloGod2012 likes this. -
BTW. There seems to be a lot of discussion here about repasting. I appreciate it is a personal choice, but having dropped £2000 on a new laptop I cannot see myself voiding the warranty by pulling it to pieces. How are you going to tell if it is any better than the factory job unless you do a before and after? Surely not worth the risk...

what I did was undervolt the cpu by -85mv in intel xtu, and I dont throttle much at all. Get a notebook cooling pad like a notepal U3 plus and it runs very cool. I see no need for a repaste, at least on my system. This is also with my gpu's overclocked by +135/+300. This laptop throttles less then the others i have tested, like the new alienware 17, the gs70 stealth, and the new razer blade 14, and with twice the power. My gpu's always hang around 80C and below at full load, and the CPU is now always under 88C at load, which is amazing given the chassis size and power! -
-
It will work fine without a repast i think, and gentech done a great job repasting mine too
i also made an undervolt like Halogod2012 did, and now i´m don´t even look at the temperatures cause i know its fine and i live in Brazil, it´s much hotter here. -

has anyone noticed that the laptop, the bottom chassis, not the screen, looks slightly bent from front to back. Look at the left or right USB ports and direct angle, and the entire laptop from side-front sub grill to the back vents looks slightly bent if you follow all the ports at the sides. Is this design? Do this with the screen open.

Hi Halogod2012,
Thanks for posting your undervolt details. You mentioned XTU for the CPU, but what were you using to adjust the GPU clocks?
I am sure there is always some benefit to be gained from tweaking settings to suit your personal needs and get the maximum performance. Having read through all the forum posts I was getting the impression that some readers may think the laptop only works properly if repasted or otherwise hacked. My experience is that it works very well out of the box and a manufacturer's warranty is worth a lot more than an extra 0.1 fps on a benchmark.
I was impressed by the Gentech posting, but if you are buying a laptop that has been repasted by the retailer then you should still be covered by their own warranty so this should not be a concern. It would be interesting to see how much variation there is in temperature for the "standard issue" machines.
Hope you are enjoying your laptop -

just wanted to post a benchmark of my system, what a beast! Surpasses a stock GTX Titan X!

Can someone tell me exactly where in the bios I can shut off both my 970 graphic cards? Or give me a detailed run down on how to disable them from within windows? I would like to disable both to maximize battery life/reduce heat, while in bed. I would be GREATLY appreciative.
-
Also, the iGPU (Iris Pro 5200) in the 4870HQ is not enabled/connected, so if you disable both 970Ms you will have no graphics at all.
You can disable SLI in the Nvidia Control Panel to save some juice though. -
It would be fantastic if Aorus could enable this feature in a future BIOS revision. Similar specification laptops (iGPU and battery capacity) last for 4-6 hours between charges...

Just got my X7 yesterday. Wow, this thing is sexy. Been having a ball with it hooked up to a 1440P monitor playing all my games at full resolution. My old Alienware 14 gaming laptop would only score about 2600 in Firestrike. This one is slightly better. ;-) I do hear the fans from time to time but compared to my Alienware desktop its pretty quiet. That big tower would spin up like a dyson vacuum playing BF4 or COH2. So far I am impressed. Light, thin and fast. The perfect combo.

Here is a sightly better benchmark. GPU's and VRAM OC'd +100/+100

just ordered an X7-Pro off newEgg. Am a premier member, so can try it for free for a month. That's what I did when I just returned my MSI Gs60-4k
