Can anyone post a link to an intel site for the single-band version of the N-7260?

Single band is a tough pill to swallow - $1400 USD is already a lot for a machine without 802.11ac, let alone without dual band 802.11n (~5 year old tech).

Thankfully the wifi card is a cheap upgrade.

Has anybody had issues with audio? I updated to the most recent Realtek drivers (on gigabyte's website) but now I am not getting any sound. I have tried completely uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them but I am still not getting audio.

    Hi,

The model in this laptop is intel wireless 7260hmw bn as shown on the gentechpc unboxing video (just stream to the end of the video where he zooms and say dual band) on
GIGABYTE P34G Detailed Product Showcase Unboxing & Review - YouTube which states that its dual band.

Also I confirmed with xoticpc that its N card has dual band support and its a typo on there site. Also its given on ebay link of this model
    Intel Wireless N 7260 7260HMW BN 802 11b G N WiFi Bluetooth 4 0 Adapter | eBay

Still let me know if you get any info.

    Thanks

I just hook up the laptop the tv via HDMI, but I wasn't able to output the audio through the HDMI cable, just video.
The audio is still coming out from the laptop speakers...
I checked the playback devices, but the usual external audio devices that I see with WIN7 are not there...
Do you guys know if this is the problem with WIN 8.1 or is it the audio card of this laptop?

Is there a way to force the laptop to work full steam on battery? I will have to buy a Blade if not.

    Hello Ken,

Does the card have dual band support i.e 5ghz for this model as you stated in the unboxing video? Will CF2 model with upgraded specs available at your site? Please let me know.

    Thank You. :)

Maybe you got dual band and dual stream mixed up?
Take a look at this page:
    ARK | Intel® Wireless-N 7260

under bands, it's only listed for 2.4GHz

and if you look at this...
    ARK | Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260

Clearly under bands, it has both 2.4 and 5.0GHz

check your facts before posting, especially if you are representing a company... just a heads up

if I can't get the audio thru HDMI, does that mean I have to watch a movie on the TV while listening to my laptop speakers? lol
I don't want to do 3.5mm to my receiver... I only want one wire to my TV

I won't have time to experiment with HDMI until tonight or tomorrow but I'll take a look when I can. I'm running w7 though. I would have to guess that the setting would be tied to the graphics driver.

Fairly frustrated with Xotic-- over a week since my order, and it still hasn't shipped, in spite of them claiming at the time of the order that they had it in stock. This is a machine with no upgrades. Annoying.

I have strange problem with my Gigabyte p34g. It looks like my "FN" key drivers are not good. When i press buttons 7, 8, 9, 0; U I O P; J K L etc laptop reacts like there's FN key activated. But, for example, if i tap "space" button, it doesnt turn on backlit keyboard... So it's not hardware problem.. Where can i find drivers for that, or any other solution? Thank you very much.

EDIT : Before my windows startup (when i enter my password to log-in ) everything works just fine.

Then, when windows start, when i press "P" button it types "*", when i press "U" it types "4", etc..

    Can anyone help? :/

Yes it supports both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz, but the router needs to enable both band and here is example from D-Link router:

    d-link.JPG

You mean P34G-CF2? this model is not available.

You have numlock on startup enabled in your bios. Hit numlock and the keyboard and see if that fixes it.

So I got mine today, first very brief impressions:
    + nice packaging
    + general build quality
+ bright screen with nice colours (needs a bit of calibrating)
    + fast cpu/gpu/drives
+ heat and noise at acceptable levels
+ Gigabyte software is decent and lack of bloatware
    - slightly noisy keyboard
    - slightly elevated touchpad button
    - one dead pixel :(
    - stickers
    - Windows 8/8.1 (seriously MSFT?!)

I have just about finished partitioning my drives and will start installing Linux soon, alongside Windows 8.1. Let me know if you have any questions.

I don't see the option to choose to pass thru the audio using hdmi, and I only have one playback device available after the hdmi is connected.

would you mind telling me what version is your audio driver? I updated via smart update and I currently have 6.0.1.7023.

FINALLY got it to work, I have to connect the cable first, then turn on the computer. :)

The audio for HDMI should be a part of the Nvidia drivers, no? It should show up in Device Manager under "Sound, video and game controllers" as something like "....high definition audio device" besides of the realtek. At least that's what I've seen on other computers with HDMI out on the gfx card.

    I have questions!!!

    1. How thin is it? What I mean by that is... Does it look like a modern laptop? With all these small form factor lenovos, macbooks and ultrabooks I hope it doesn't look like a larger HP from yesteryear.
    2. When you say the noise is at acceptable levels.. What do you mean by this? I see that you have owned a Sony those are LOUD, is it quieter then that?
    3. Was it worth it?
    4. Pictures please :)

I'm getting mine deliverd on Tuesday and It was a hard decision picking what I want so I hope this is the right one.

    1. 21mm /0.8 inches
    2. Noise is fine when you're browsing the web and you put it on stealth fan profile in the smart manager
    3. I am enjoying the purchase so far
    4. Plenty of photos on google images

    1) I believe this has already been replied, so I'll give a different perspective. It's thin and light enough so I can grip it in a single hand when moving between my room and the kitchen without any problems. Also, really thin considering how much power it packs.

    2) I would say it's about the same, but it doesn't seem to get as hot as my Sony so I would consider it to have more efficient cooling. In other words, when playing games it can be loud (but the sounds from the game will drown it out), otherwise it hums quietly. You'll know the laptop is there, but it's not bad at all.

    3) I think it definitely was. I'm a bit annoyed about that dead pixel, but I guess that's just my luck. I've had 3 or 4 laptops previously without any such problems, so I guess I had to get it at some point. I just wish it wasn't on this one...

    4) Sorry, no pictures I'm afraid. Notebookcheck have posted a review of this laptop, with lots of pictures so feel free to take a look there.

Is there a way to force the laptop to use the GTX chip all the time or does it still pass thru the inter driver no matter what? I read up on the Intel forum. It seems the there are a lot of limitation trying to get the HDMI to output 2560x1440 using the Intel HD4600.

Finally received the wireless card and installed the AC7260.
Posted pictures of the SINGLE Band N7260 and the Dual Band AC7260.
Also a shot of the internals after the bottom panel is removed.

Service of XOTICPC really sucks, there is no prepaid shipping label inside the package, and no link for a prepaid shipping label....
They put this tiny little wireless card inside a huge UPS plastic bag, I was expecting there would be a label on the plastic bag, but nope, just a plain plastic bag...
sigh... I am so disappointed with them, I will never order from them ever again!
Now I have to contact the service department again, and waste more time on this stupid issue... it's been half a month!

Not necessarily. When I ordered mine, Gentech was giving away a free 30 day guarantee. You could have probably price-matched that with other sites like XoticPC, too.

So if any dead pixels arise during that period, you can get a replacement? That's neat. I hope the unit I get from Newegg doesn't have any defects.

Hi I was wondering is it possible to replace the internal battery with a higher watts battery for longer use otherwise an external battery or something. The battery is the only downfall this laptop has.

If you remove the hard drive there actually looks like there should be space for a much longer battery in there. The problem would be finding one that fits properly and works electrically

Forget it . You will not find one. Internal battery like these are made to order to fit the inside space. The chance of finding another battery that will fit into that space is exactly ZERO.

I know that li-poly batteries at 11.1v such as the one in the P34G are commonly used in softball guns. Capacities ranging from like 1000mAh to 10000mAh They are often rectangular in shape. That could be a place to start - see if one can find something with the right size measurements.

Unless you're playing a really non-intensive game, it won't. The CPU is throttled pretty heavily on battery.

Does anyone remember the pages in this thread that talked about CPU temps? I can't seem to find them since the search function here is completely useless...

Does this laptop use nividia optimus technology, or does the laptop always have to be on the 760m. Because the razer blade has lasted 8 hours and 7 minutes just using the intergrated graphics chip doing web-browsing so does this one not have the option or is the battery just crap.

You can set it to use the integrated chip, but it won't last nearly 8 hours. I think it maxes at around 4, but others on this thread mentioned getting over 5? Not sure how they got that much though.

Damn I wonder if its possible to take the p35k battery and put it in this laptop might need a bit of tweaking but maybe just maybe and since the p35k uses the razer blades battery (presumably) we might be able to get longer battery life

Well i'm stumped can't find anysort of battery pack that would fit and have these connections. I guess i'll just use a external battery pack instead :/
Although the webapage this comes off says it would be serviceable you would most likely have to take parts from one laptop to another.
