I got this from local reseller in Indonesia:
i7 4700, 8gb, 750gb hdd, gtx760m 2gb, 64 gb sata ssd+1tb hdd, dos US$1479
As for the P35K with the same spec is $1629 but of course with the additional optical dvd drive.
Their website is pemmz.com

That is good. Honestly I don't mind the 1600x900 on a smaller screen. However the quality of the TN panels are just not something I want to deal with now days. So the AHVA makes me feel much better about this. Now I am ready to buy one.
-
They say anything about availability?
-
Gigabyte isn't the only one delaying their release. Asus, Samsung are also late to ship their flagship models.
Possible reasons - just some personal conspiracy theory
1. Windows 8.1 imminent arrival. So, blame Microsoft for this one.
2. Everyone wants a piece of Intels Haswell processor. Increased demand put squeeze on Gigabyte's margin. So no rush to release until the supply improves.
3. All manufacturers are holding back to clear off the old inventories.
This delayed release could be beneficial, especially for those interested in what Apple has up in their sleeves: refreshing MacBook Pro. It will be so nice if Apple would start using a discrete graphics card in the new 13" pro model (maybe not a powerful one, i.e. GT 735/740M). Coupled with a retina screen and the same asking price of $1800, who would want a Razor then? -
useless. It would be more intelligent to put a i5-4258u (intel HD5100, tdp 28w) i7-4750HQ (HD 5200, tdp 47w) coz graphic perfs are similar as a 740M
-
At least they are starting to pop-up on US store websites. Also XoticPC has a Gigabyte section now and should be carrying it as well. They do not have it on their site as of yet though.
Excaliber does...
Gigabyte P34G-CF1 14" Ultrablade Gaming Laptop. Gigabyte P34G-CF1 -
What a good news! I'm almost convinced
-
I think I may be buying one of these. I'm on my second razer blade 14" and just discovered it has some dead pixels. The first one had a clicking fan, I think I may be returning it and getting something different
-
Really torn between this and MSI GE40.
GE40 has a rather bad screen, only 3 USB ports, no backlit keyboard, the design of the laptop is just "meh". Also, it gets very hot when gaming.
On the other hand, P34G is thinner, has a 1080p screen, 4 USB ports and backlit keyboard, but it will not be available in my country (Japan) until December, and it's likely to be more expensive than MSI GE40.
Really tempted to order it from that Indonesian reseller when it comes out. -
The only real advantage for the MSI would be battery Id say, otherwise, if you have no hurry, there's no point. I take it you know the clevo w230st? It's a middle ground...
-
Thanks. Yeah, I was looking at W230ST at some point, but it's heavier, thicker and only 13 inch. It's even bigger than my previous 14-inch laptop, and I want something lighter and thinner. I don't really care much about battery life, around 4 hours is okay for me.
I can wait until mid-October or so, but December is way too late, so I was wondering if I could order P34G from Indonesia. I've just emailed them (asked about availability too), will post here when they reply. -
I am really hoping this system is a winner. I would love to see the thin and light gamer laptops become another battleground for the manufacturers.
Between Razer, the new MSI thin 17", and this we could see a great market starting up. -
If the p35k stocks are any indication, it doesn't appear as if we're going to be able to reasonably customize this laptop either. They'll probably sell a mid-spec system and a high-spec system. Too bad you can't buy straight from gigabyte, I'm sure you'd save at least 10% if you could. I'm still hoping for $1400 for a decently equipped system, and for it to be released before October but I see the chances of both being quite slim.

A person on whirlpool (which is an Australian website) seems to be an official from Gigabyte has given some estimates as to the prices, specs and expected laptop availability in Australia. Mind you Australia is not the first region to get new products nor is it the cheapest, so you would have to make your own judgement as to what it would be in whatever region you are from. Just to give you an idea the Nexus 4 was $100 more in Australia compared to the US play store pricing.
Here is a link to that thread. -
With that being the Australian price I could see the price in the US being around $1500. Honestly if it is more than that they will have a tough time competing with the Razer. Obviously it has some better specs in monitor and drive space, but the Razer is selling well on looks and video performance.
-
Razer blade is 16.8 mm while P34g is 21 mm. Razor blade also has a stronger video card. The p34g has a better screen and storage space. My main concern is that gigabyte isn't pushing these out in large numbers so their production costs are high and resellers aren't interested in selling low profit units so the price will be bumped up even further by the time it actually reaches other countries. So they're creating a bit of the perfect storm situation for sellers, low stock, high demand, which means they could probably still sell them for 1600 USD.
-
P35K thread says a UK supplier will take their first shipment next week. Here's hoping the P34G releases simultaneously or imminently thereafter.

I may go for the $1300 Acer V7 instead:
Acer North America Online Store - Aspire V7-482PG-9884 (Windows 8)
Has a touch screen, too. Not that it matters too much. -
the price for the acer v7 is not really that attractive. The P34g come with better graphics card (GTX 760M) and the projected price about 1500 USD with SSD + HDD. the only downside is the touch screen which i don't really care. so for extra 200 USD, i will rather have a better graphic card and SSD.
What you think? unless the p34g goes for like 2000 USD, otherwise i don't see any other current offerings are better. -
The Acer does have a SS cache drive. 24 GB I think. I know it's not listed on the website, but owners confirm that it's in there. You can replace it with a bigger one if you want.
These Gigabytes are nice, but I don't think I could live without Home/End/Pg Up/Pg Down keys, or a touchscreen on Windows 8. -
V7 also has a slower CPU (its 3DMark 06 CPU score is about 2 times lower than 4700MQ, according to NotebookCheck). 750M on V7 has DDR3 memory, whereas P34G's 760M has GDDR5 memory, which is much faster. If you're into gaming, 760M is a much better card. You probably wouldn't be able to overclock 750M to reach the level of performance 760M offers at stock clocks.
-
In addition, from most of the reviews I was reading that the Acer v7 come with the resolution of 1366 x 768-pixel. Am I wrong? not even 900p? I really doubt the display is any better than the p34g. But again, I'm not sure nor confirmed about this information. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
-
the SS cache drive? does that means is a separate mSATA slot or is just a part of the HDD?. As far as i'm concerned, this is not a normal mSATA SSD which the p34g has. So still is a big disadvantage for the acer v7.
-
Boy, with all this information, the Acer is really behind!!
-
I think it's 1080p though I'm not sure about.
I do remember seen a review in anandtech which said the screen was comparable to that of asus ux31 (not bad at all). -
this is the recent review and according to the display information, it does looks like is not 1080p
Acer Aspire V7 Review | Ultrabook Reviews -
Actually, I think there are many 'subversions' (I don't know why acer has so many numbers on the models).
But if you look here:
Acer V7 Anandtech
It is 1080p and a really good display, but beware, it seems it's the only acer with a good one and models are easely confused. -
When in doubt - Aspire V7-482PG-9884 (Windows 8). That being said, nothing else comes close to the P34G in this class IMHO at this time. The thing now is build quality, availability and cost, but if this doesn't show up next week I'm going to sacrifice 4GB of RAM and the GPU and go with a ThinkPad T440s should it come out Sunday as expected (web availability in U.S.).
-
The Acer has a Msata port with 24gb SSD and is used as a cache for the HD (but you can ungrade it to be more like the Gigabyte), the screen is suppose to be 1080p and has a great color, the mayor differences is the cpu and the gpu,
I have the last year model (acer m5), and I am really happy the change the DVD bay for another fan, and the screen those were the week points IMO, other that that is a really nice build and well balance machine -
I was considering the T440s for my son for college. My understanding that the build quality of the Thinkpad is generally pretty high ("business quality" build). I see the P34G has the GPU, but in terms of durability, do you think the T440s is going to clearly outmatch the P34G or is that a "will have to wait and see" item?
-
"Wait and see," though I'd lay off a bet the Lenovo will have a substantially higher build quality. However, the specs on the P34G - and the P35K from Gigabyte - are hellacious. If I had my druthers I'd get the Gigabyte unit simply because the extra 4GB RAM would mean that much to me, but I'm running out of time and can't wait much longer. At this time, given my priorities - weight and screen - whoever comes out first is who I'll go with. I have had great stability with the ThinkPads in the last 11 years.
Hope that helps. -
Holy, are we 100% sure there's no Home/End keys? What sort of a stupid decision is that!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 -
Gigabyte P34G Third pic, they're there. People need to start doing their homework.
-
I assume they meant no dedicated keys, which is unfortunate, but perfectly livable. I'm prepared to get used to a new keyboard anyway, so using Fn keys isn't that big a deal to me.
-
Sad but true.
-
True, and i assume ppl buy this laptop because it is a gaming laptop. they less focus on typing and general use but gaming.
I believe they will also have their own mechanical keyboard as well. -
I completely agree. I want a powerful gaming laptop to play games from time to time, but yet light enough to take it to the university for presentations when needed. For text typing I have a desktop at work.
Price and lack of ethernet port are the only reasons I did not go for razed yet. -
Don't forget the display of the razer is also not as good as the p34g. The razer is still a TN Panel and not 1080p and yet more expensive but it does have a slight better GPU. In addition, the storage is horrible for the price and you don't get dual storage.
Razer is overpriced for its specs and it is following the mac.
As for acer v7, similar price but worse CPU and GPU, so for this reason, it doesn't seems to be a better choice.
My conclusion, p34g is still the best option unless the build quality is horrible.
As far as the review of p25w says, the build quality doesn't seems to be too horrible and at least it does have dual fan to support the GPU.
Can't wait to see the actual review of the p34g -
True, most of the time I'll have this unit plugged in and have an external monitor, mouse and keyboard, but travel a fair amount so still want and need a good keyboard and trackpad. Pretty spoiled on that last given ten ThinkPads in the past eleven years. The trackpad on the Sony Vaio I'm typing this on right now is killing me, no matter how much I continually tweak it. You only need to have your mouse move a few hundred times whilst typing due to your palm accidentally brushing it to appreciate the Lenovos' touchpads.
I'm in it for the screen, the weight and the grunt. That is, a desktop replacement that's truly agile and mobile. -
Hey guys, I have been following this thread religiously for the last couple weeks waiting for a release date for the p34G. Unfortunately it looks like its probably not going to come by the time I start school so I have been looking for alternatives. The Razer Blade is stupid overpriced but perfect in terms of specs. That ASUS linked earlier is a really nice except for that 750m. I finally found something resembling what I want but its not as thin as I would like but its still not Sager thick. FORCE / MSI 1492 (31-003) 760M (MSI GE40 Barebones) | XOTIC PC what do you guys think?
-
the MSI Ge40 is not a bad option but the downside comparing to the p34g is that the screen is probably the same as the razer ( TN panel, 1600x900)
if you can live with that, it shouldn't be a problem, but my main concern is the heating problem. Several reviews already stated that heating is an issue while gaming. Not sure if is the single fan which contributed to that cause.
And lastly, which is personal preference, i did not like the look of the laptop (dragon eye, thicker and plasticky look). I prefer the look of p34g since it looks like a normal laptop and not being seen like a gaming laptop.
Like I said, if you can live with the points i stated, the ge40 will be a good choice. Just a reminder, with SSD and HDD option, you will still be paying about 1400 USD for this laptop. -
Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, GE40 has only 3 USB ports (two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0), no backlit keyboard, and, according to the Anandtech review the screen is even worse than on Razer Blade.
It's pretty thin, but not as thin as P34G. I believe the barebone doesn't have "Dragon Eyes".
Perhaps the only two advantages are availability and price, and the price difference may not be that big. -
Between my Vaio S15 w/12GB RAM and my T430s w/16GB, has become glaringly obvious over the weekend the 4GB of RAM means that much to me. I'm now waiting for the P34G indefinitely and hoping that the build quality, keyboard and trackpad quality are there.
-
waits too long on this one just bought a wt230 instead.
-
At this point, I'm just curious to see if Gigabyte can pull off the perfect storm in a 14" package. Thin, keep the heat in check without a jet-fan noise, good screen and good gaming performance. My bet is that it will hit all of those except thermals and it will throttle clocks on at least the CPU, if not CPU and GPU at some point. If it doesn't throttle then the fan will be near full speed, may not be an issue with headphones on.
-
760M = 55w, 4700HQ = 47w. Total: more than 100w
sony vaio pro = 15w, noisy at load
the Thickness is similar (17mm vs 21)
i let you to do the conclusion about noise -
Build quality, heat sink, dual versus single fan, fan placement?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 -
That would not be a completely valid comparison. The vaio is also half the weight and I would assume the heaviest components are heat sinks and battery. Might be wrong, but it doesn't matter much, the most important thing is sure: the vaio has much less heat sink. That and one less fan.
Being realistic, I would say that it will be noisy in load. But I wouldn't expect it to be noisier that for example w230st (1 fan). Time will tell I guess. -
In case it hasn't been linked yet
