Just noticed Bluetooth is flagged as "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" in device manager as well. All other Intel networking related stuff is working fine. (Intel 7260AC for Wifi).

I don't use any Bluetooth devices, so this isn't a huge deal. Wonder if it's related to whatever broke Optimus and my 760m in the Windows 10 transition though.

Update: Installed the chipset driver package from Gigabyte's website for the v2, since the v1 doesn't have Windows 10 as an OS option.

    From this page:

    http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4927&dl=1#dl

After a reboot the 760m was recognized, by the HD 4600 was disabled.

After another reboot both were enabled and I was able to install the latest 355.60 package from NVidia, it appears to be working.

HD 4600 has drivers which are apparently newer than the package available from Intel's website. Weird green distorted playback on some video files (so far they all have this Video info: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 23.976fps (h264 high 10 L5.0, yuv420p10le, 1920x1080) [default]] but other than that all is well again.

edit: Fixed the green video problem by fiddling with LAV settings. All good! Leaving the Intel drivers alone for now, despite version number weirdness.

Glad it worked for you. I basically did the same thing but used the P34W drivers instead of the P34G drivers.

Not sure who to give "shat the bed" credit to on this one, Intel, Nvidia or MS.

Got my laptop back and so far it's already crashed once without warning..thinking the motherboard may fry once more but we'll see. That's all I have to report for now.

Laptop is going back to gigabyte once again..sigh. Definitely was not fixed. They tried to pass the buck in an email saying to double box it or something as it's probably shipping damage- no way it's possible as I had fedex box it in their most expensive laptop shipping box as I watched, special static sleeve for the laptop, egg crate padding, guarantee of no damage and all. There's no way to pack it any more securely. I'm positive it just wasn't thoroughly tested/fixed.

On the plus side, they did send me a shipping label this time so I don't have to pay shipping the second time around.

If I do get this thing fixed there's no way I'm upgrading to 10 based on the problems people are reporting on here and other sites haha. Not worth the risk yet.

If it's not fixed/replaced in a timely manner there's no way I'll ever let anyone buy a GB laptop again- ridiculous to have to go through this twice.

Yep so this second time around on my laptop RMA my experience has been disappointing.

Quick summary of first RMA: had faulty motherboard, was replaced and sent back, turns out computer spontaneously powers down upon stressing it for a period of time (hour or 2).

    2nd RMA:
Sent back to gigabyte- engineers said they couldn't find a problem- but haven't been able to talk directly to engineers to explain that they need to stress it- though my RMA notes said that. The customer service rep today was very nice about it and is going to try stressing it himself. I have to say- I've been without a laptop since July though..very disappointing overall.

Customer service representative found a number of issues with the laptop and the new motherboard- was overheating and under-benchmarking, and it sounds like the overheating was causing the sporadic crashes. I've been given a direct line to one of the tech representatives working on it, which is nice. They've replaced the motherboard for the second time and now are resetting the OS- it sounds like because they think the OS isn't running the cooling system properly? It's been a whole can of worms and months of time since I've had a working laptop, which really says something. But I'm grateful to the CS rep for recognizing an actual problem and going out of their way to do so (initially the tech team was going to return it to me without benchmarking or stressing it) and the tech support employee who has kept me in the loop. Hopeful that this will be resolved in the next few weeks, though I've been hopeful in the past and it didn't end well so I'm cautiously optimistic about this over 2 month RMA.

Got my laptop back and so far it actually works! Hopefully that will continue but I'm super happy to have it back and in seemingly good shape! :) Special thanks to Ching at gigabyte who really took charge and got everything fixed and double checked for me- he's the man.

Final update on my RMA process: overall, it took quite a while and for a bit they thought nothing was wrong, but communication was good and it was easy to get in touch with them any time by phone.

Glad yours worked out. My first, they damaged the lid. The second, they said there were no issues and sent it back. My third, the replaced the mobo for overheating, and I'm about to do my next because it won't power on.

I've not RMAed a laptop so much since my old Compaq years ago.

Thank you all for this great lead. I was worried I may never get the graphics card working again, or GASP it was a hardware problem.

I found that the P34G V2 drivers did the trick, but specifically it looked like the REALTEK (or whatever) Audio drivers were the ones that finally moved my GTX 760M from "Code 43 error" to "Good To Go".

Is there a better fan control method? It's still fairly noisy for me even using the stealth setting on Smart Manager.

Anyone else still using the P34G v1 as a daily driver?

Been experiencing some Intel driver wonkiness again. System locking up when using QuickSync on large files in Handbrake - and it looks like the latest Windows 10 update reset from things in the Nvidia control panel (manually added apps for integrated/dedicated settings gone).

Right now my Intel video driver is 10.18.15.4274 but Smart Update shows the latest as 20.19.15.4300 - Intel's website and driver update utility list the update as 15.33.38.64.4252

More numbering/version weirdness. Still gunshy about touching this after my initial video woes in Windows 10.

    Anyone have any advice?

edit: I've since updated to the x.4300 version from Smart Update. No problems so far - and it may be my imagination but it seems like the fans kick on less frequently. Maybe the older driver had some Optimus issues.

    I'm still using the V1.

I just recently started having this very odd issue... My Ethernet is having a lot of problems. It's either intermittent, very slow, or just refuses to work. Oddly enough, WiFi works completely fine... I tried using a different cable and swapped the ports on the router but it still didn't fix. Dunno what's wrong at this point.

Oh, I did, though I didn't call every other day. It took a couple more RMAs, some botched repairs, and they finally replaced the machine with a v2.

Anyone know how to get a fan replacement? I contacted gigabyte but because warranty is so overdue they said they wouldn't sell individual parts to customers. The right side fan sounds like the bearing is destroyed. I'm assuming the fan will be the same for v2 and maybe even v3?

Can I use the Smart Update on Win7? On the Gigabyte-Support-Site I can't find a smart update utility download for the P34 (v1) for Win 7.
Where do I get it from?

And my P34 (v1) is getting more and more bluescreens... :(
What can be the reason for that?
Are bluescreens more of a hardware or a software problem?

Did anything ever come of this? Mine started swelling so I was wondering if I should try and buy a new one.

I've also got an issue with the Mobo it seems. I took it to a guy and he said it's shorted / overheated in an area. Not sure what to do. Basically it turned off a couple days ago while I was using it and it won't turn back on. No lights show up either. He fixed the issue last year, but it might be a bit worse this time around.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement fan? A couple of days ago the fan on the right side of the laptop started making a bad noise (like if the bearings were about to give out). I'd like to replace the fan if possible. If not I guess I'll be looking for a new laptop.

Wow this place has sure become deserted! I guess most owners have moved on to other machines for daily use. I'm in the same boat soon, leaning towards the Alienware 13.

Anyway my P34 is starting to show some real age now. The webcam is totally dead (though I haven't opened up the bezel to check if it's just a connection issue - I doubt it) and I'm having more and more Wi-Fi issues (dropped connections, the device disappearing entirely till I reboot, etc).

Has anyone replaced the Wi-Fi card inside the P34? Has anyone seen similar issues?

Mines still going strong. I changed out my wifi, think I found a replacement on newegg.

As to the replacement, I'm going to move to a Dell XPS 13 or a HP Specter x360. I've set up a desktop gaming rig, and all I need my laptop for is productivity apps.

The P34g will live on as a gaming rig for the kids... Minecraft, etc.

The link goes to the Intel security advisory search page, at least on mobile. Can you give us a bit more information about what the vulnerability is?

In any case I highly doubt that gigabyte will released any kinds of updates. Could always submit a warranty claim comma if you're still under warranty.

It doesn't look good. You should prepare for the worst - that the flash went bad and you bricked it. That said, read though the BIOS mod thread to see if they have any recovery methods. I don't know if the P34 has a backup, but you might have success pulling the CMOS battery and wiping.

I'll keep an eye out but I don't have anything more right now.

Guess it's finally time to retire my P34G.
It doesn't seem like there are any fan issues, but even idle or with light use the thing has been getting so hot it practically burns my fingertips. I've been needing to switch on Max Fan pretty regularly to cool it off.

Don't know what the problem could be. There's nothing obstructing airflow.

The Wi-Fi also drops the connection a few times a day, requiring a manual toggle or reboot. And the webcam is completely unrecognized/useless now. I suspect both of these are related to components being damaged by the heat.

Anyone know where I can get replacement case parts for a P34G? The bezel is coming off the screen especially when opening and closing - hinges are attached to the front bezel which is separating from the back part.
Gigabyte wont sell to individual customers. Official repair agent in UK quoted £450 + VAT for al the parts! Cant find anything on ebay.

If anyone has a dead P34G I might be able to move the innards from my machine into the case.

Or is there any generic laptop case I could use to transplant the innards into? Just seems a shame to waste otherwise functioning kit.

Yes I reached that conclusion also, especially since the internal thermometers all show normal except the CPU which is >60 C at idle.

    But two things:

    1. I have never once gotten thermal paste right on my first try, despite having done it on many systems.

    2. The fans never ramp up on their own anymore, so I suspect paste might not be the issue, just a sensor somewhere.

    Hello,

I was in the same situation as you, the back on the lid was separating from the bezel and could not find a replacement online.

In the end I got a clear flexible epoxy and repaired it. I separated the lid from the bezel completely, being careful as to not damage the LCD. The old adhesive was hard and brittle, I removed it with a knife and sand paper. Then I sanded both parts so the the new adhesive sticks well and cleaned them well. Applied the new adhesive, put both parts together and put something above the lid to make pressure. Let it cure overnight and it's now better than new.

Just be careful not to use too much adhesive, as it will come out of the borders when you apply pressure and it'll be really hard to clean afterwards.

    Here's a strange development.
After further testing it seems my heat and Wi-Fi issues only occur when connected to a 5GHz 802.11n or 802.11ac network, not 2.4GHz 802.11n.
