you are completely correct, though I never saw a full implementation of that keyboard

Appreciate u taking time to respond also great review thread for 14/13 models appreciate it. -
I am still amazed even after one week how they managed to fit this hardware in something this small haha. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
Aside that the poor battery life
I got the cf6 model which is the new model with the extended battery
I truly hope that the machine is as good as I think it should be. Otherwise I will be pissed to not buy the blade -
This ones using the Intel® Core i7-4710HQ Mobile Processor (2.4GHz - 3.4GHz) [P34Gv2] so I'll have to check that out online. -
This has me really concerned too.... does anyone know which CF model of the p34Gv2 iBuyPower is selling? Reason I'm asking is because its one of the only 2 MFC's I can purchase from using my military card, else I'd opt for Xotic PC. It's the weekend so I'm having to wait till Monday to get a response ( if any ) as I'm looking to put in an order in for one of these since everything points higher to them vs the Clevo W230SS.
Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.
**EDIT**
My apologies, realized it was the same thread that I had also posted on just a moment ago, since I was searching for information on the CF Model. Double post.. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
From what I understand right now
47wh battery models
CF1 - first model it sports the 4700hq
CF2 - model that comes with the 4710hq and the 128gb msata
CF3 - model that comes with the 4710hq and without the 128gb msata
61wh battery models
CF4 - model that comes with the 4710hq and the 128gb msata
CF6 - model that comes with the 4710hq and without the 128gb msata
now regarding the CF5.... I have no idea, maybe it was the 63wh model
there are interestingly 2 boutique that sell the p34g v2 with different configs, i.e. with the use of a 500gb disk. schenker and ibuypower however from what I see only schenker actually has the larger model
anyway... from what I remember gentech also had military focused discounts and their back to school promotion is indeed more interesting with the free repasting -
Interesting, I don't even see the CF5+ on Xotic.
As for Gentech I don't see them under the "special Vendors" list for my military card, so sadly its between iBuypower and CyberPowerPC. This sucks. Really hoping that Monday's conversation leads to something interesting. I can't find ANYTHING on the battery specs on either site either, so I'm going to assume the 4cell vs the 6.
Reason I'm saying only those sites is I'll be using my military star card, its basically a military exchange card that: 1) Has 0 interest, 0 APR, and allows a payment once every 3 months, vs 1, which is useful at times.
At this point I'm ALMOST opting @ The 8258-S however trying to stay on the smaller size if possible. Judging by your list at least I know I'm dealing with a CF2 or above, though hopefully the CF4 if anything. If not then I may be pressed for the W230SS. Wish I was still in Tokyo, where I could just walk into a nearby Yodobashi/Sofmap and compare the 2. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
I would talk to them on monday and confirm the battery size, its a simple matter for me, I wanted the longest battery life possible and the w230ss wouldn't provide me that at all.
aside that the palmrest wear is something that I dislike immensely -

I don't know the number of cells of each model though I do know the battery capacity available
its either 47wh, 61wh or 63wh
As you noticed from my thread I do prefer small notebooks that can pack a punch and simply put when I discovered that the p34g v2 would come with those different battery options I was interested. From that entire thread it was either this one or the blade.
I will surely write a review, though please don't ask me to film it, I only have my phone camera. I will try to be as unbiased as possible, I have to mention already that in terms of looks I don't like it. It reminds me of an old pavilion that my father had it was from 2007 I think? can't remember the exact model. -

the u2 should work, however the intake is also at the top of keyboard tray, those grills aren't for the speakers.

Unfortunately we have received a lot of communication from customers about this review, which is why we would like to make our statement clear on nbr - whilst we continue to discuss the issue with notebookcheck. It seems like members on nbr generally understand that the figures don't make sense, so hopefully other readers of the review will also notice the strange results.SirSaltsAlot likes this. -

Those coolers for me didn't do a thing in all the notebooks I had.
The only one that made a difference was when I did a custom design, I got a fan from a ventilator and removed the bottom it was a good 10c less
@Mysn its clear something was wrong. There is no way that those results were accurate
When I receive my unit I will do a review of it. Though as I said it will take sometime to actually receive it. Around a month is my estimate
And to be fair when I use my PCs on battery I don't watch streamed videos. If I will watch something is from the HD. My battery life is determined by me fiddling with text and coding -
I got a fairly cheap notebook cooler which has a curved design. This thing makes a difference even though the notebook just sits on it, without the coolers fan active. But since it raises the bottom of the notebook up and leaves room for air temps drop.
As far as I can see the P34G v2 has intakes on the bottom and on top next to the power button. -
Just wanted to share my OC scores I did a while ago. This is with +290 on the Core and +600 on memory. Voltage is about 1.100V constant under load

Hello,
I have a few questions: I'm considering buying this since ASUS ROG is ting us with no releases dates etc etc and I need a laptop for Late September:
My wish list would be 16Gb RAM, at least 128b SSD and 750Gb Storage, so I guess I have the choice between the CF2 and upgunning the CF4.
0) If I read the reviews right, the P34g V2 is barely throtlling, can you confirm that ? (I'm okay with heat, as it is necessary sacrifice, but not with throttling)
1) Can you confirm that the P34Gv2 is superior in term of build quality and heat management (and battery life) to the Schenker Variant ? (Notebookcheck seems to say so)
2) Could you recommend EU reseller (shipping to France) ? I am looking at LDLC at the moment, it's 1500€ (VAT included, shipping not included) for the CF2 (256+1To, 16gb Ram) with OS, isn't it quite expensive ?
XoticPC doesn't have AZERTY AFAIK... (and I need AZERTY)
3) Could you confirm that there's indeed a "CF5" variant due early september with the new 61Wh Battery, 16gb RAM + 256Gb + 1To ?
I'm looking right here: Gigabyte P34G Intel i7 14" Performance Laptop - P34G v2-CF5 - Scan.co.uk
4) Would you say that repasting is essential for that kind of computer ?
5) Oh, by the way, 16Gb RAM, overkill ? (Would it be a better investiment to look at better quality storage and thermal repaste...). Six years since I built my last rigs /ordered my last laptops so I'm quite rusty now...
(I'm looking at a 4y rig)
Best regards,
FoX -
Hello WhinerFoX
Personnaly I took plunge and went through with the order I originally started with Schenker/mysn.de even though the notebookcheck.net review present the C404 as worst than the P34G v2.
Why did I do that?
- I need the computer mid-september (the gigabyte with the 61Wh battery certainly won't hit the french market by that time)
- The configuration offered by gigabyte does not exactly match my need while Schenker offers me the ability to customize it (buying the parts separately and upgrading myself would not have been much cheaper)
- I'm having a very hard time understanding how the review between the P34G v2 and the C404 can be so different in regard to the battery runtime and CPU/GPU temperature? Did they follow the same test protocol? Do both computers have the same BIOS settings? I'm not sure what the problem is, but if any, it most likely is going to be fixed in the next few weeks. I keep my fingers crossed on this!;o)
- I'd rather have to deal with Schenker rather than Gigabyte if something goes wrong with my computer. I might be very wrong on this, but so far, comments found on the Internet about Schenker all have been great.
I'll try and asnwer some of your questions, even though I'm definitely no expert.
1 - According to Notebookcheck reviews, the build quality is better on the C404, however the C404 does get higher temperature than the P34G v2.
2 - LDLC might be more expensive than XoticPC, but it's in France and you won't have to gamble on additionnal VAT/Custom fees.
5 I really depends on what you plan on doing. But in most cases, 8g will be enough (you can easily upgrade later on if the need arise)
Regards, -
@whinerFox:
0:The c404 and the P34G v2 are the same device! A difference in built quality can only occur due to variance on the individual machines.
1: While gaming it shouldn't throttle. As far as I remember it just throttled during the stress test, but it was still above non turbo clock speeds, which is impressive for such a sleek machine.
2: Still, the c404 and the P34G v2 are identical machines. The first one is the rebranded model sold by Schenker Notebooks. There will be no difference, except Schenker sells its with the 61Wh battery.
4: If it's an option, take it. I would go with every possible step to reduce heat and noise.
5: RAM ist expensive as hell these days. (Three years ago I bought 8 Gigs of G.Skill RAM for 36 Euro - the same kit is 80 Euro now!) Get 2 x 4 GB if it's only for gaming anyway. -
Thanks for your answers. I was aware that the C404 was the P34Gv2 rebranded, but the notebookcheck test confused me (bigger battery, lower autonomy, ?) and there are no review to confirm or deny notebookcheck tests...
Anyway, I think I'll listen to you and go for a 8gb Schenker (with nice configuration options) or ask if LDLC has the CF4 in stock (I highly doubt it).
Thanks !onkelosuppo likes this. -
Anyone know where I can buy either of these models right now and have it shipped over night for school?
Gigabyte P34GV2-CF4
Gigabyte P34GV2-CF5
Gigabyte P34GV2-CF6
Only one on eBay and a few other sites that are mentioned on here have them but I don't really trust them because I have bought from them before and have had to return it do to boot issues after they have messed with it.
I found it on Amazon but it says 3 to 4 weeks until ships. By then a new laptop will come out.
I have narrowed it down to these 4 laptops:
Y50
Razer
Gigabyte P34GV2-CF4
ASUS N550JK-DS71T
I think I am going with the Gigabyte because I do not want to invest that much money in something that will be out dated soon. And I want portability more than anything. I really really want touchscreen but that only comes in 15" and I do not want to lug that around.
really considering the
ASUS GX500
but again no matter how sleek and cool 15's get they are still 15's and mine as well put that extra money into a sweet gaming desktop and game like crazy at home. When you have to go to school, work, or visit somewhere pop out your awesome 14 that is on the go and jam out a few games.
I love 4k but programs have not caught up with the technology yet. I think this gigabyte is a nice sweet spot to hold me over until really sweet 4k touch screen comes out and is fully supported by everything. its like a car you never really want to buy the first models, you want to get all the kinks out first.
860 with great heat saving power and can be overclocked just right and small to were i wont even notice it in my bag. perfect for on the go gaming. Take the rest of the money and build a sweet gaming rig for the house.
so again does anyone know where I can buy these at? I am looking for the extended battery version and would like to buy from amazon or newegg because they have unquestionable return policies. Even the others still always make you feel bad if you need to make a return. I like not having to hear lip period.
I would like to look at the one with the even biggest battery that takes up the extra slot but I can't find that one anywhere, that one is like a ghost. I read in a forum somewhere were gigabyte didn't even respond to people asking how to get it.
So ill settle for the 4 Cell 61W ... would like to get the 256 and 16gb but its not a must.
well thats my spill.
any help would be greatly appreciated ...
Thanks! -
How much for those? Been looking everywhere for the CL9 1600 Kit, but now ended up with a Corsair DDR3L CL11 Kit. :C

With XTU you set the maximum clocks and voltages. So Haswell will still use its power saving measures when idle.

I did a silly thing today~~
I was trying to under volte my CPU to -70mV (as suggested by other members), but I accidently selected to 70mVand ran the stress test for 10mins without looking it. luckily the system didn't crashed and max temp showing was over 90~95'C !!!! -_-
Just wondering would it caused any damage to my CPU? as I still need to use this laptop over next 2~3 years -
Does anybody else have this problem?
Everytime I plug in a hdmi that is connected to my Dell monitor, the sound settings menu (the menu found in the control panel/hardware and sound/sound) pops up immediately. I can exit out of the sound settings menu no problem, but the menu pops up again if I replug the hdmi or sign in into my account when the hdmi is still connected. It happens only when the computer recognizes the presence of the hdmi in the socket. Is there any solution in stopping the sound settings menu from popping up? -
I wonder if using the max fan option on the smart manager for long periods of time, could cause some damage to the fans in a couple of years. I use the max fan option only when i'm playing watch dogs and my temps always stay below 80c. For other games i use the Auto option.

Amazon.com : ASUS Zenbook UX303LN-DB71T 13.3" Quad-HD Display Touchscreen Laptop : Computers & Accessories
The other one I heavily considered was:
Amazon.com : ASUS N550JK-DS71T 15.6" Full-HD Touchscreen Quad Core i7 Laptop w/ Aluminum-Body, 8GB RAM & 1TB HD : Electronics
I actually almost bought this one two but I wanted the 860 maxwell with 4G more than anything.
Let me know if one of those work.
I have some much research in my brain right now its not even funny.
I did end up going with the PG34 V2-CF4 though. To me its the ultimate buy right now with the highest level of gaming in the smallest form with great gpu and cooling capabilities and overclocking capabilities.
Plus new extended battery is killer.
Sure there are many more options but this thing is a sleeper.
The sweet spot
The G spot
Whatever you want to call it ... Its the best! -
is v2 still not have touchscreen?
-
But there is no machines that has it all unless its a bucket.
I had to decide what I wanted more and what I wanted to sacrifice. I choose to sacrifice touchscreen for the ultimate cooling slim 14' gaming machine. You have no idea how hard it is to find a 4GB DDR5 Maxwell Chipset. Its a sweet spot for gaming and cooling.
The kicker on the touchscreen that a salesperson finally sold me on why not to get it was amazing actually which made the decision a little easier. The problem with touchscreens is that they are a mirror, highly reflective of lights. Which is very irritating to me. Viewing angles are sacrificed as well.
the v2 has an amazing matte screen with insane viewing angels. plus I have a touchscreen tablet now and I always use a mouse and keyboard with it anyway. I do love being in bed sometimes and just touching it but the v2 will be used for something else and I am okay with it.
Hope this helps everyone but ask me anything because I have looked at absolutely everything and have touched everything. from the Razer Blade 2014 to the el chip o's ... and everything in between.
v2 ftw -
The N550 is just too big for what I'm willing to settle for.
The 1k mark is about where my budget is atm. If i go over, it will definitely be for the P34 V2. The Lenovo at it's current deal price of $850 just seems to be a great deal for what you get with it. Sighhh, the decisions.
Thank you for showing me those other 2! -
Hey guys, weird thing to ask here, but I was wondering if there is any place in the US where I can physically see the p34 v2? I've seen more than a dozen reviews, but still, I guess I'll need to do it. I wouldn't like to order it just to return right away because of some flex, keyboard keys, etc... :/
-
If the video card is a great buy then I would probably go for it on budget or you could just put the money aside and save up for the V2 because I think this little guy will be future proof for a while at 4GB of VRAM.
