Is your issue repeatable? Will it stop working correctly most times you put it to sleep and wake it back up? Could just be a bad power setting in windows that crashes the driver

Tried to search but coudln't find an answer.

    1. Has anyone updated to the "latest" Smart Manager 7.4.5 and find it stable? Official one states 7.0.5 however I'm on 7.4.3 which is working fine. Just wondering if I should update to the latest 7.4.5 :)

    2. Same with Gigabyte Fusion, I'm on 4.3.2 which is working fine but there are later ones available.

    3. In general, do you try and keep up to date with the Gigabyte "smart update" tool or get your updates from elsewhere? Just find that Smart Update takes forever to download!

    4. If you are feeling extra helpful, please take a look at the attached screenshots, do you recommend I update any of these or stick with the current installed versions?

Back home, I could try out HDR on my Panasonic EX750 TV and it looks rather great on some Forza 7 circuits such as sunny Dubai or Rio de Janeiro.
The Aero 15 with GTX1060 can handle it in native 4K @ 60 fps (with dynamic graphic settings). I didn't notice any performance drop due to HDR.

Huh, I have Smart Manager 18.0.2.8 and Gigabyte Fusion 4.3.8 installed, both are the "latest" in Smart Update for me. Smart Update does take a long time to download, so if I want one of the drivers flagged there I usually download it from Gigabyte's website directly. I have no reason to suggest these updates other than being more current and I do not have any issues with them.

Latest Smart Manager seems to be 7.4.5 for me as per below screenshot, are you sure you have 18.0.2.8 or was that a typo? CurrentlyInstalledDriver2.jpg

My Wi-Fi disconnects even if I move my laptop one feet. The wifi network i am connected to disconnects and the wifi device re-initializes. I inspected the wifi card and it is securely in the slot, and the antennas are securely attached to the wifi card. None of my other wireless devices are experiencing this issue, and this occurs in all situations, including in public wifi areas, along with wifi networks in my home. I am using the official driver from smart-update - 19.70.0.5. I also tried using intel's latest driver on their website- v20 but the same symptom occurs. Any solutions?

EDIT: Crap, meant to post in the aero 14 user's thread...

Not a typo, I double checked since I did notice it was very off from your version number. Do you have a 15x v8 or different model? If it's the same, I don't know what to say.

    Hello everyone,
I stumbled across this thread while looking for suitable RAM to run in Dual Channel Mode with 2666MHz. It has been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I can also confirm that this 16GB Kit works straight out of the box for me:

    https://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search?partId=HX426S15IB2K2/16

    BIOS is FB08

Thanks for this great thread guys. Hope I could also help a little bit.

Guys... This thread covers 4 different Aero 15 models for which the latest software and driver versions may be different.
You definitely should put your own config in your signature to avoid confusion or at least give details about your config in every post where it's relevant.

According to his screenshots, I think he has an Aero 15v7 revision 2.
Also there is a newer Smart Manager version available than your v18.0.2.8.

    Here is my sum up:

    Gigabyte Fusion
    Aero 15(X) v7: 4.3.6
    Aero 15(X) v8: 4.3.8

    Smart Manager
    Aero 15(X) v7: 7.4.5
    Aero 15(X) v8: 18.0.3.1

    Smart Update
    Aero 15(X) v7: 4.1.0
    Aero 15(X) v8: 4.1.0

    Keyboard Firmware
    Aero 15 v7: 1.2.0 (or 3.0.8 for revision 2 with keyboard replacement?)
    Aero 15X v7: 3.0.8
    Aero 15(X) v8: 3.0.8

    BIOS
    Aero 15 v7: FB0E FD0E
    Aero 15X v7: FB06 FD06
    Aero 15(X) v8: FB08

    Touchpad
    Aero 15(X) v7: 21.14.0.10
    Aero 15(X) v8: 21.14.1.1

It just depends on the CPU and GPU.
    - Aero 15 v7 = i7-7700HQ + GTX 1060
    - Aero 15X v7 = i7-7700HQ + GTX 1070 Max-Q
    - Aero 15 v8 = i7-8750H + GTX 1060
    - Aero 15X v8 = i7-8750H + GTX 1070 Max-Q

Cool, thanks. You're actually running at half 2666 mhz, but good to know another stick that is compatible.

I'm going out on a limb here, but it sounds like the XMP profile tells your CPU/MB to overclock the RAM. Aeros aren't utilizing XMP profiles, but has anyone tried to overclock the RAM on their own (e.g., with XTU or something)? Is that possible with these, or is it locked down in BIOS?

No, it's 26666 MHz, because you've got to double the frequency shown in CPU-Z; DDR=Double Data Rate
You can check that with your own RAM if you still got the original 16 GB stick.

I’m still curious if anyone has been able to overclock theirs?

I can also confirm that this crucial stick will run @ 2666 with the Vcolor stick at 2x16gb. (Latest FB08 Bios and Aero 15x v8). The laptop took a few reboots before it was able to match the timings and successfully boot into Windows. It had me worried for a bit but now seems to be running stable. My CPUz looks the same as that attached by Balazar.

So I just installed my second ssd and my previously silent aero15X in silent mode is not so silent anymore. I get this constant electric sound that is really irritating.
Something I read other people have it by default but I thankfully had not. Anyone know what it migh be and how to solve it?

Also anyone familiar with this memory stick? And what it should be paired with?

I'm getting a lot of battery life issues. My CPU idles at 13 watts, which is super high, and my GPU constantly switches on and off, which I think reduces battery life as well. Is there any known fixes to these issues?

I have to agree. These speakers are not the greatest, but there's also some sort of audio enhancement in the driver that I can't seem to disable that makes the sound even more pitchy. Does anyone know how to disable it?

edit: I downloaded the audio driver from the gigabyte website, unzipped it, and deleted all dolby related things in the driver folder before installing. That seems to have done the trick.

edit2: Windows update reinstalled the Dolby extension. D:

It is the chamber on the speaker, without room for the speaker to move it will sound very2 tiny. I think the most bearable of the 3 is the GM/GX from Asus.

Has anyone had any issues with their Aero 15x cpu thermal throttling after adding dual channel ram?
When I had the 1 stick of ram that came with the laptop I had no issues and getting 30-40c idle and around 70-75c gaming. After installing a HX426S15IB2K2/32 kit I'm now getting idle temps of around 50c and almost immediately hitting 90c when running an old game like TF2 on the lowest settings. I have only tried underthrottling with Intel XTU with a -.150 undervolt which does nothing.

These are my temps after swapping back in the V-color ram.

ugh, not sure how to delete a double post.

Tried to insert image from Imgur but looks like it's not going through.
Temps are CPU max temp is 71c, GPU 58c.

Looks like the reason they chose single channel ram is to limit the GPU, but dual channel heats up the GPU+CPU and it throttles. I also haven't tried to put thermal pads on the ram since I didn't think it needed it.

I could be wrong but that's what I'm seeing with mine. If the RTX has higher TDP over GTX I could just see them underclocking it since they're using the same chassis with no additional cooling.

Your FPS should be much higher with dual channel RAM, right? So the reason for higher temps is that the CPU can push the GPU to a much higher load. You can experiment with GPU undervolting. Also CPU undervolt always helps, but may be not as significant in that particular load.

    on a side note:

    Hello all!

I've made it to the ranks by becoming a proud owner of a stock v8.

One thing I've noticed is that if you put your machine into sleep mode and try turning it on, it crashes into a blue screen. Has that happened with anyone else?

Actually shortly after that I send it back, so I never came to updating it further. But thanks for the identification!

I'm now in this twist if to buy the updated model X9, or a V8 as I had but with 4k instead and reduced price.
Or a totally different workstation laptop, really like the focus towards on 17" on CES.
The Asus StudioBook would be perfect if it was not a quadro. The MSI GS75 had my attention as well, but those golden hinges...

So I'm waiting for the first reveiws to appear and see from there. My trusty Dell m4800 will do till then.

Somehow I keep coming back to the Aero, it actually felt really good aside from the initial week of setup and fixing..

Is it me or does everthing point towards having a 2080 or 2070 on there with unchanged cooling is to be a fiasco?

I can get the 1070 with 4K at around 2100 euro, maybe even lower coming weeks. Anyone know what the original euro price was?

can I ask why you sent it back also where did you see reduced prices?

From what I've been watching and hearing, Gigabyte's using some kind of AI in the cloud to switch core speeds on device depending on the application you're using so that the laptop stays cool. If the AI is not reachable and the software does not recognise the app (game) you're running, it might not run at optimal speed/settings.

a colleague of mine has a MSI Gaming laptop. He's taken care of the laptop very good. In the 2 years he had the laptop, the hinge caused him a problem only once.

Is anyone else experiencing massive performance differences between playing on the integrated screen vs. connecting an external montior?
When I play No Mans Sky with the aero 15 screen (GF1060), i get about 40 FPS, connecting an external montior and outputting exlusively to it I get over 60-70 FPS. I understand it has to do with the fact that when gaming on the integrated screen, the geforce is copying its frame buffer to the iGPU which then dispalys the picture, while with external monitor the intel GPU is entirely skipped. Thing is, I don't see anyone talking about this or mentioning it, so I wonder am I doing something wrong?
Yes I am sure the game is running on the Nvidia Card and not on the intel graphics, I set it manually to use the geforce and I even watch the temps and GPU usage via After Burner in both scenarios (temps and usage are btw identical, just the perfomance is deceased).

I had the same problem with my old 2012 Dell XPS (GF555m), where I would get much higher fps when playing on an external monitor. Do I just have to live with that or can I somehow improve this? 50% performance loss is kinda ridiculous and beats the purpose of buing a gf1060 equipped machine

Edit: The resolution is always 1080P, both for internal display and external monitor. No changes are made execpt swichting the output

I don't have that. My random thought would be that your external screen is, for example 1080, but internal is 4k, so the game automatically switches down for the external monitor and increases performance.

What I noticed is that connecting external screens is very fidgety. Sometimes it connects right away, other times the computer loses several resolution options (such as 2k), or only allows 40 FPS limit for some reason, or the external color system changes from RGB to a more primitive one. Sometimes the HDR option disappears. Usually a restart helps, sometimes I also have to plug HDMI cable in and out, reset my TV picture settings and constantly switch from External to duplicate on my laptop.

I forgot to mention that resolution is always 1080P. Are you 100% positive you dont have that? Have you ever compared your fps (wihout any fps limiting like vsync) against an external montior? If indeed this is normal, something is very fishy with my setup.
In any case, my Problem is the internal Display having low fps, not an external one like you mention.

If you connect thru HDMI then it bypass the iGPU and that's why the performance increase. Try to install RTSS see if your GPU is 99% used.

Yes I know, thats exactly what I wrote in my post. I also wrote that im using Afterbuner (+RTSS) for checking the GPU usage. My question ist whteher a difference of 50% in FPS is normal?

I don't have a difference. I haven't run benchmarks, but I game both on external screens and on the laptop and I haven't noticed a difference, and I usually keep watch of the FPS counter. Even if I missed the difference it would be by several FPS, definitely not 50%.

Alright thanks, that helps me. I guess somehting's wrong then and I will have to do some research, I just don't know what might be the reason for this. Strangely enough, when I output movies to external displays it's the other way around: I get lots of stutter on the TV while watching on internal display is smooth >.<

Has anyone had issues recently with the backlit keyboard going off periodically? Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a software bug before I call for warranty...

Just to be safe, try a clean installation of both your iGPU and dGPU drivers. I always find that performance on the laptop screen is better with a clean installation (whenever there's an update).

Nope everything is the same as it has been. Maybe I'll try uninstalling the fusion software and reinstalling it when I get home...

I also have that with movies, but only when connected to a 120hz Smart TV (other external screens, which are all 60hz non-smart, don't give me that issue). Movies, YouTube and mostly any other videos stutter when the Laptop outputs at 60hz and I think at 120hz too. So whenever I watch a movie I have to go to Display Settings (right clicking on the desktop) and there I go deeper into Display options and set the frequency to 24hz. That makes regular use and gaming very crappy, but then movies run super smooth.

When using a different screen or an internal monitor I don't have to do any of that.

Interesting, I had no idea. Definitely will try this workaround. Now that I think of it, it may have to do with the fact that the HDMI Port on TV is not set to PC. I have an option to tell my LG OLED to treat a device on a specific HDMI port like a PC, which does chnage behaviour in some ways. So will try that as well, maybe you have something simillar?
