Hi Valuxin ! I've already discussed with Propolkin about 6770m romless card from HP... i tried to get it work with acer 5935g and your guide, but i don't know how to integrate vBIOS in sBios of this laptop. instead of *.wph and/or *.rpm files i have *.fd (inside H20) one. PCB of this card is blue. otherwise i can try to solder a
    PM25LD010 chip, but i don't have a schema.

    Hi

    I bought a 6770m for my acer 7738g wich has a 4570m from:

AMD Radeon HD 6770M HD6770 DDR5 1GB MXM III A Graphic Video Card for Acer 5735G | eBay

I installed and hear 3 beeps meaning that maybe i need the bios for it, i have read how to modify the bios but it seems a little complicate to me.

So i updated my bios with this one Aspire 7738G BIOS_1.13 MOD from notebook forum and replaced the JM70113.WPH with arsen BIOS.WPH rename it and replace it.

Bios update was suceffull replace my card 4570m with the 6770m no image and no beeps.

Can anyone do a bios update for this card where i can update the bios via dos?

    Thank you

This card is not for Acer 5735G/7738G, because it doesn't have vBIOS chip. If arsen's BIOS mod have no positive result, it seems your card might have samsung vRAM chips. So, you need to find an appropriate vBIOS or ask the seller about the laptop model this card was really designed for.

Are you sure about DDR3 (I've found vBIOS only for DDR2 card)? If so, tell me the name of any laptop with HD 4570 DDR3 on board and I'll try to get the vBIOS for you.

    Hello,
Please i need help with vBIOS for HD4570 DDR2 64bit, video card is from acer 6530G.
    Labels on the video card: VG.M206.004 , MS-V171B0905087112 (or B is 8) ,
    and one small 9516155449
    Hardware ids :
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_01211025&REV_00
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&SUBSYS_01211025
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9553&CC_0300

My laptop is acer 5920G with nvidia 8600M GS, but i had problems with nvidia and changed this with ati 4570 ddr2 64bit from acer 6530G. It worked well from the first time.
After update with bios from http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...+Mobility&interface=&memType=DDR2&memSize=512 my display is black.
My mistake: i did not maked bakup for original bios, and the update was in windows with ATIWinflash.
Even if my display is black i have acces with remote desktop: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/remote-desktop-manager-fo/oakpnnaknlicjghpchokjoelhfjnmhcd
In Aida and GPU-Z after update video card information seem the same as before.
Only the info about monitor looks different.
Already i tried 5920G_MXM_V3.WPH and nothing.
Also when I connect an external display doesn't work.
I hope to be nothing physically broken and if I'm lucky and someone help me with original bios, to solve it.
I wait your reply and thank you in advance!

1234QWERTY, Is it possible that your ATI have 1Gb of vRAM? Because there is such a version.

Update: extracted the vBIOS from 5536g - it might work.

    Thank you very much!
    My problem is solved.
    forum.notebookreview.com is the best.

I put on bootable usb key: atiflash.exe and OPROM01.ROM to try a blind flash
Before to change nvidia with ati, in bios i changed order to boot, usb key first.
(bios version for acer 5920G is ZD13813.WPH, last from acer site)
    -start laptop without HDD.
    -atiflash -f -p 0 oprom01.rom
-after Enter, usb key blinked few times.
-waiting time 10min, but laptop do not restart itself.
-push start button to stop and then push for start.
A great and pleasant surprise - the diplay is again alive with ati video card.

    You have my respect forever!

    Hello valuxin,
    great work!

I have posted my question already in another thread, "Acer 8935g does not detect replacement ATI 6770M graphics card", but i fear that no one reads this old thread any more, so i ask you for advice:

    My questions are:
    - can you send me the HP-vbios for HD6770m or M5950 FirePro? I would like to integrate it in my sbios.
    - can you tell me how to extract the vbios out of downloaded hp-bios? i tried this several times with several methods, none worked.

My Notebook: acer aspire 8935g already with T9900, 8GB RAM, SSD Samsung 840 EVO 1TB and HD WD red 1TB and i wanted to change the videocard from hd4670 to hd6770m, but i did not read this thread in advance, so i bought a hd7660m with blue pcb, the reseller said this card is for hp notebooks only.

I already tried to integrate the vbios from techpowerup, integration worked well, bios flashing too, but this vbios did not work, maybe it was not extracted correctly, as the vbios has only 62k, and as i read in other threads the whistler-xt bios should be 128k? RBE also states that the dell bios may be corrupted, should be 128k.

So, valuxin, can you or anyone else in this wonderful forum help me?
    Thanks

I think, it's possible to use this card without any hardware mods - just tell me the specs of your graphics.
Also, give me system BIOS file currently installed on your laptop.

I have no experience with Compal, so... I suggest, you should search over the Internet for this.

P.S. For Acer laptops it's "Crisisdisk"

    Hello Valuxin,
first of all: many thanks for your fast reply!

I`ve downloaded the bios files for the M5950 and the 6770m and tried both, one at a time. Integration in sbios is really easy with your tutorial and phoenix bios editor.
    What happened:
Notebook boots, bios asks for boot-pw, notebook reboots, bios asks again for boot-pw, notebooks boots into W7, both video cards - built in intel and 6770m - stopped working, showing conflicts in device manager.
I rebooted the notebook, just the same.
Then i tried to boot the notebook by pressing the multimedia-button, thus forcing the notebook to boot with the 6770m as primary video card, and pressed f2 to get into bios - and there i saw a difference: usually the line "vga-bios" is emty, when i insert the 6770m, this time it showed "ATI ..." (sorry, i didn`t write it down) - so the bios was detected! I closed the bios with "save and exit", and the Notebook booted two times again, like bevore. I pressed f2 while the second boot, and the line "vga-bios" was emty!! - no working videocard in W7, just vga-resolution.

Then i talked with a friend of mine, he told me to look for IRQ and Memory-Adress conflicts, and there were some conflicts.
As i wanted to know, how the IRQ and Memory-Adresses look like on a working system, i replaced the 6770m with the original 4670m and booted the notebook. This time the device manager showed no conflicts.
So i thought it would be a good idea to try wether RBE or some other tool could alter the conflicting IRQ`s and memory adresses, but prior to this i wanted to be sure that i have a fallback-strategy..
Then i did something really stupid ...
    I tried a "crisis recovery"!
    - I prepared an usb stick with wincris.exe, containing minidos.sys, phlash16.exe and bios.wph
    - I took the notebook-battery and the dc out, put the usb stick in an usb port, pressed "Fn" "Esc", put th dc in again, still holding "Fn" and "Esc", and pressed the power button. The notebook started to do someting, the powerbutton-led started blinking, the fan ran at high speed, so everything seemed fine, after about 30 seconds i released "Fn" and "Esc" and left the notebook working, for about ten minutes. As nothing else happened, i tried to switch off the notebook - no response. As i read in another thread, this might happen and the solution is to unplug dc and replug and start the notebook, i did so - but NOTHING HAPPENED! - only the power-button LED lights up blue, thats all ...
Next i disassembled the notebook, took the bios-battery out for about one hour, reassembled the notebook - just the same.

SO: I think i`ve bricked the sbios!!

    - is there any other chance to rebuild the bios except soldering a new bios-chip or buying a new mainboard??

A bios-chip would be about 16 euro, a new mainboard about 150 euro. If there is no other chance to rebuild the bios, i will first try to solder a new bios chip.

    Thanks for your help!!

Firs of all, it's not allowed to integrate two (or more) different vBIOS roms for one video board! 6770m and M5950 have the SAME board, so in your case it was not right decision to integrate both roms. Secondly, there is no need to buy new motherboard or sBIOS chip - just try to use another flash drive with the original sBIOS from Acer and with different version of crisisdisk (there are a lot of them). If it will not solve your problem - just ask some one with programmer to re-flash sBIOS chip (I'm sure for 100% that chip is not corrupted). Just try "crisisdisk" method - if you will not be able to recover laptop by yourself, just pm me with all info and I would try to find the solution.

    Hello Valuxin,
    thanks for your fast reply!
i did not integrate both vbios (m5950 and 6770m) into the same sbios, i made two different sbios versions and tried both, first with m5950, then with 6770m, in both cases the video card did not work, as far as i can say because of IRQ and memory-adress conflicts with the built-in intel video card.

I will try to find someone who can re-program the bios chip, because the laptop does absolute nothing when i press the power-button. The only thing that happens when i connect the dc is, that the power-led lights up blue.
So, unfortunately, i am not able to try different versions of crisis disk.

Is there a way to determine in advance, which version of crisis disk is the right one? My Notebook: Acer Aspire 8935g with phoenix bios, MB PDB06.001 - maybe newer versions have insyde bios, as in the 8935g service manual described.
Or maybe i`ll buy a programmer, if it`s not too expensive.

what ever will be the solution, i will post it in this thread.

Thank you very much for your help, valuxin!

M4000 from HP 8770W. Romless. Integration of vBIOS into sBIOS. Used three different vBIOS versions. Only version of M4000 (Foxcon) worked for me. But the cooler was not working properly. Allmoust all the time. Temperatures of the CPU were not displayed correctly. After other experiments I`ve made a conclusion that vBIOS of M4000 HP 8770W is not compatible with 5739G.

M4000 PR80C that is from DELL workstation works fine. This card has ROM chip on it.

    1) as i understand, the most powerful MXM A is firepro m5100, but it is too expensive. then goes firepro m4000, then firepro m5950/Ati 6770/ is it correct?
    2) there are ROM and ROMless cards. ROMless require to integrate vBIOS into sBIOS. but, is it really instal vBIOS chip to ROMless card and make ROM card? or same model of card in ROM/ROMless versions doesnt compitable?
    3) another variant of 2 question. if i get ROM card and phisically uninstal ROM chip will it work as ROMless card?
    4) is all Dell PR80C blue PCB (firepro m4000) only ROM chipped?

    Hi!
what about your card? do you solve your problem? i think about buy card from this seller...

    Hello to all,
    Hello to Valuxin!

    sorry for my late reply!
Unfortunately i bricked my notebook-bios by testing crisis recovery. Result was: absolutely no reaction, no way to power up the notebook! Valuxin tried a lot to help me, but no way as the notebook did not power up.
My Solution was: Buy an SOIC-8 Test Clip, and do some soldering to get an spipgm interface. Locate the right bios chip (! it is NOT the chip "U23" as written in the service manual, but the chip "U22"!), desolder the chip, extract the bios out of the bios.wph (exactly the first 2048k!!!), program the chip and solder it in again.
And really - my Notebook is alive again!!

Now i can try to find the right vbios for my hd6770m without bios chip. The videocard has a blue pcb and is maybe from an hp notebook. None of the vbiose`s from techpowerup vbios collection nor from Valuxin does the job, RadeonBiosEditor reports ".. should be 128k for a Whistler chip"

    Any idea?

    Many thanks!

Hello Valuxin, I was hopping you could help me with my problem. I own an Aspire 5920G with a native 9500m gs. The thing is I love to tinker with bioses and bought a used HD4570 from a Toshiba L500-13W. I did everything I had to do, extracted the vbios from the toshiba and integrated it into the sbios of my 5920G and all went smooth. Weeks later I bought a GT230M from a Toshiba A500. And here is where my problem begins. Extracted the vbios from toshiba and integrated it exactly the same way as before, except that it never gives me an signal of success. The (not so) funny thing happening with this vga card is that, when I plug in the charger, after I power it on it flashes the leds and immediatly shuts down. If I try to power it on only with battery it never shuts down, but it gives no image and the only way I can turn it down is removing the battery. Using an sbios with no GT230M vbios it gives no issue powering on or off.

This vga card is ok, because i've managed to getting to work with it in a Toshiba L500.

    What about that?! Any insights?

    Thanks

Hm... Such thing might happen, when there is some piece of dust in MXM conector or on PCIe lanes of video board. Try to clean them and reinstall. Also, show me the vbios so I can check its compatibility with your Acer.

Additionally, if nothing of these above help - try to integrate the vBIOS from GT 240m for Acer - seems like they have same GPU.

Thanks for answering me Valuxin, but with all my efforts all I've managed to do was to fry my board. With all the gpu swapping the Winbond i/o ic got shorted. I have some other boards with this ic, so I guess I'll try to replace it and hope nothing else is damaged. With all this I decided to buy myself a little upgrade, a Toshiba L500 wich I know for sure uses all my best components.

Thanks for everything, and long live modding!! :D

    Cheers!!

Any way to do this with a Dell Precision M4600 and a romless (HP) Firepro M4000? Here's a link to the Dell BIOS.

I've been trying for about 3 weeks and haven't been able to get it to work. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I couldn't get Phoenix Bios Editor to open it, so I've been trying alternative methods (MMTool, AndyP's tool, UBU, etc.). I've been able to modify and flash a BIOS, and it will boot just fine with my current card (M5950), but when I put in the M4000, I get a black screen.

I figure at this point I should probably ask the experts, so here I am.

Maybe that is not the correct vbios for that M4000. Or, maybe it's damaged.

I got the vBIOS from this post.

I can't be sure the card isn't damaged, of course, but it looks functional enough to say that my BIOS-editing methods are a more likely suspect.

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrade my laptop broken graphic card and I have a question (to do so I need to change BIOS, without graphic card) - it's possible to get actual laptop bios with phoenix bios recovery - crisic disc? So when you start phoenix crisis procedure you actually don't overwrite the bios but instead download the current one on to USB flash stick? Thanks for any advice.

Crisis recovery disk can be used for recovery only.
