Hi,
I will be able to order this card in a few days. My question:will this be compatible just as the ddr2? i know it's mxm-II and there have been upgrades on the 5920G to the 4650 ddr2, but not ddr3
Will it be compatible as the ddr2?
Need fast reply, thanks!

It should work, as long as it's MXM II. the DDR3 in that card is only for the cards use so it doesn't matter if the rest of the system supports DDR3 or not.
-
Where the hell you found a HD4650 DDR3 little rascal

Yeah I want to know also
-

Are you sure that it's DDR3 and MXM-II? From which laptop it comes from?! -
i wan to know too, is here a site that sells them?
-
http://www.ipc-computer.eu/it-pi-n-...r_Acer_Aspire_6930G_944G32BN-pId-2033407.html
rep plox?
also, i'll order one to make sure this works.
As I heard: you order one at them, they order it from the manufacturer?
Anyway, anything on their site should be buyable I assume? so there it is. :O -
Holy crap on a cracker. i'm going to pass out. Why didn't we find this MXM II gpu before ????? An Acer one in addition !!!
-
yay
So this will do then job? -
I believe it will. If you can get it to work, you'll finally pass my 3Dmark06 record
-
O. M. G.
Hey, no kidding, that's the DDR3 MXM-II version, right? 6930G's have MXM 2.1 form factors, right? Maaan, maaaan, is this true?! Haha. Just can't believe it.
The price though, maan I wish I already have a job. -
Of course, there's no big reason that it doesn't work especially since we know that the 4650 DDR2 works. Plus it is an Acer Vbios too. All chances are on your side
That's what i call a decent upgrade.
I hope it's really MXM II compatible but i don't see why it wouldn't be since as said 6930G's gpus are mounted on MXMII.
You could sell your blood or something

What is your 3Dmark06 record? For mxm 2 laptop I assume? I may become competitor soon if Asus gives me a 9650M GT replacement
-
The exact term should be "slaughter your record" poor DDR2 user
-
If I could! lol I am a few pounds underweight, so not a good idea. *sigh* wish I should've bought a GPU before a CPU. Anyone wanna buy my T9600 for $250? Hahaha kidding.
-
I'm still not sure if this is worth it. Upgrading from the 9500M GS?
-
You're kidding, right ??? This gpu scores about 75% more in 3dmarks than your 9500M GS (on stock clocks). And will pawn it even more in Vantage as well. The difference ingame should be more than noticeable (if not spectacular). Not to forget OC possiblities if your system is cool enough.
On the other hand i agree it's a little expensive. The gain wouldn't be that huge for me for example cause i've already a DDR3 gpu but for you it's a damn worthy upgrade. I'm pretty sure we won't find something better in MXM II i guess. -
However selling back my 9600M GT could pay at least 100 euros. So it could be largely viable. This Gpu is about 15% better than mine and even more in Vantage.
-
yeah well, you're right, ordering verry soon!
and yeah, my system runs verry cool afther all the mods I've done.
Ordering soon
-
btw undertaxxx i'm a little skeptic though. I Didn't manage to find a 6930G model with a 4650 on-board by googling. Could it be a replacement card provided by Acer for these notebooks ???
Cause the 6930G-944G32BN concerned is originally sold with a 9600M GT on-board. -
are you saying this card won't fit or be compatible?
And yes, that site orders them from acer directly to supply people with spare parts. So it has to be right i guess. -
and a 9600M GT does fit in the 5920G but just doesn't work. The 4650 will work i think? as long as it will fit...
-
Skeptic #2 here - explain how the part number of this DDR3 card is the exact same as the DDR2 version.
Please purchase it just to see if it's a real deal. -
VG.M9606.005 should be VG.M9606.00 6
right? I don't know.. Maybe they made a mistake?
http://www.ipc-computer.eu/it-pi-n-Acer_VG_M9606_004_VGA_BD_M96_1GB_900MHZ_MXM-pId-1881717.html is the VG.M9606.00 4 -
Okay now I've send an email to the sellers of the item asking wether it is the ddr2 or the ddr3 version. because for some mysterious reason all the ddr2 versions disappeared from their site...
I'll keep you guys up2date
-
According to AcerParts.com, both .005 and .006 are DDR2 parts.
Sorry to disappoint. -
Yeah and most 1GB midrange (128-bit) cards use DDR2, while 512MB tend to use GDDR3. Oh well, hopefully they respond and clarify the information.
-
I need a GPU-Z shot for proof, but Undertaxxx has a good point. There is no reason to have two part numbers for one part, and don't forget that HP has HD4650 1GB DDR3
Edit: Just checked http://www.ipc-computer.eu, it seems that only the titles of VG.M9606.006 and VG.M9606.005 are different. In the description P/N numbers are the same. Confused?! GOOD
-
So what do i do :O order one or what
-
Well it still is better than your current GPU, so it's up to you. I'm really, really, REALLY on the edge of buying HD4650 DDR2 and to settle down, but oh my, I want DDR3 so bad
I already have two DDR2 GPUs, so I want my third one to be an upgrade in every single aspect.
-
Yeah, but WHY are they so rare? Please, if you have more sources on how to get them, share please.
-
Believe me mate, if I had the sources:
1. I would have it already.
2. I would definitely share the good news
Sorry, no good news, neither Sager, nor HP, and sadly, it seems that the Holy Grail, mother of all MXM-II GPUs - MSI's HD4670 is incompatible
-
It's 5700 with a 30% overclock on the 9650m and using a 2GHz core 2 duo. Card isn't MXM. It's built directly into the motherboard.
Haha that's true. He's been trying to beat my score with his 9500m for a few months now
-
But Acer's done that before - VG.9PG06.002 and .006 are the same 9600M GT GDDR3 model, VG.9MG06.001 and .002 are the same 9300M GS DDR2 model, etc.
-
I propose a mass suicide
Well, seems like ssd will be my real last upgrade
-
Don't give up yet. They don't just type ddr3 when it's not true. I'm calling them tomorrow concerning the 'fault'
I'll keep you guys up to date alright
THERE IS HOPE! -
I already have a MSI, where do you find those?
-
I remember when I was checking the two 4650 cards in ipc-watchamacallit, that the two cards (the MXM 2.1 and MXM 3 I think) do have different part numbers..and before that I mistakenly thought that since it was 900MHz it was DDR3..though the 6930G couldn't possibly be a MXM 3 format, right?
I was also looking through google and haven't found any 6930G's with a DDR3 4650. Found one though that has DDR2. -
yeah but acer provides these cards as a replacement, not an actual other 9600m gt..
Anyway i'm confused, calling them soon enough -
Sehr geehrter Kunde,
thats a mistake its DDR2. thanks for pointing that out.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen
kind regards
i.A. Thomas Zepf

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrgggglllllll...*opening the gas*
Mein Gott, it's expensive for a DDR2 gpu. -
yeah
I got your hopes up didn't I
-
Sigh......
-
will there be ddr3 some time? because else, I'm just buying the 4650 i think..
-
Well it's leaps and bound better than what you have right now so if I was you I would just go ahead with the upgrade.
-
Though i'm not sure. My 9500M gs gets 5.2k @ 3dmark06 and the 4650 only has a 'slight' improvement in my oppinion. Atleast not worth 200€..
-
u get 5200 in 3D Mark only after a massive overclock with ur 9500M GS and no to mention u kill ur card. With the 4650 you get 6000+ and u don't have to overclock and worry about killing ur card....
-
would you buy 1k 3dmarks for 200 euros? Have extra work finding all drivers/doing copper mod/waiting for card to come in.. I mean.. I could just save for another notebook tbh
-
-
EchoShade bought EX625 and tried it on his 6930G, but it doesn't boots, though he can enter in his BIOS.
