was thinking of upgrading this? the gtx 980 is still a beast, but id like a gtx 1070 as the fps on that is amazing

Assuming this chip is similar to the 1080, it appears not. Seems like the power connectors are different. Go check out the thread on DM2/DM3 owners lounge. Lots of discussion on this topic.

I just came across this.
hope it helps.
1080 benchmarks in SLI Config.

also I forgot to mention that they are also starting to test the 1060 and 1070 GTX

Drogi Szymonie, noone cares about DM2/DM3. His question was about DM1 and upgrade from 9XXM > 1XXX series.

Anyone has any information that maybe a hope somehow in the future?

My best reasoning would be "No". Since the architecture is different I doubt they want to make module to go backward.

Yes you can:

Yes you can upgrade P870DM from GTX 980 to GTX 1070. We offer upgrade kits.

What about P870DM-G, I can see the upgrade option for non-G model but not for G model. Does it mean that offered 1070 is non-G version or you simply forgot to edit store page for P870DM-G?
What heatsink is required for such upgrade: 980 desktop or single 980M one? -
Dear @Eurocom Support
It can be SLI or just a single 1070? is there is any plans for the 1080?
Regards. -

1070 card that we offer is G-sync. You need to use GTX 980 heatsink.
-

It is single nonSLI. We are working on 1080 too. -
I have the Sky X9E with 980m's SLI
Can I use the 980m heatthink?

*If* +-150W TDP 1080 graphis could work... A 980m heatsink is all too weak. Only 980 heatsink is capable for more powerful guns

It`s great news because looking at the prices here, I can get cash from my current graphics setup (two 980M 8GB G-Sync cards, SLI cable, two heatsinks), with this buy 1070 + 980 200W heatsink and still have some spare money from it (even probably for some nice SSD)!
In benches such change will lower P870DM-G performance (980M SLI > 1070) but games are all different matter. -
For me, I'll just wait for the 1080 even one card so I can feel reasonable different.

Can any one tell us something about this full standard mxm board GTX 1070:

Eurocom on YT commnts said that for 1070 upgrade they using 980m heatsink not that 980 desktop
They said also it wont be possible to upgrade to 1080 even with 980 desktop heatsink so...
There is one hope: one Guy on forum post this http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4881588939 is clevo version of 1070, after some mods its work so maybe 1080 will work too. -

Clevo cards don't fit - so if you come across "miracle" posting like baidu ask user to do video and show to others. We support 1070 non Clevo card.
-
Eurocom Your answer is clear to Us.
In other hand for users who have 980m Sli or 980 desktop (after OC) upgrade to 1070 is small performance boost.
The real deal is upgrade to 1080, if that Guy will get that miracle with 1070 Clevo maybe he can do it with 1080.
But I got question Eurocom, if U Guys give upgrade to 1070 with 980m heatsink, did U tired put 1070 SLI to 870dm? It would be something definetly worth moneyLast edited: Dec 7, 2016TomJGX likes this. -

wait is that the reference to the guy on ebay who is telling everyone the 1070 and 1060 work in older Alienware models like M17X-R2 -R2 etc...?? -

good luck on the wait. Should I come back to you when the 11 series is out ? -
it seems that no hope soon for 1080n, I'll fix or replace my 980m's cards for now, sell the whole machine, then wait until the 1st quarter of 2017 comes, many things will be cleared.

use a 1070N, they're about as powerful as a 1080 desktop card.
If they made it the size of the older cards, a 1080, would be maybe double it's price right now. The clevo version is like nearly 2,000$
would you spent 2-3-4,000$ on a single 1080 MXM card ?
(maybe less in USD..) -

evena 1060 is like 10-15% faster then a 980M. These new cards are crazy powerful.
-
OK , I'll consider the 1070n if they support SLI, once I make sure that it's available and it's working fine.

ell no, what i saw at stock showed they were faster then the usual stock 980M. Not sure if what I saw was biased and in the 1060's favor or not... but they seem faster then the older cards and for a better price. Just a shame they do not work in Alienware properly, but at least they work in Clevo and MSI perfectly. -
1060 isn't faster than 980

980M ! not the 980DT - 1500$ oversized crappy card... but yeah the 1060 is close to as powerful as that... crazy right ?
-
It really depends the game though. In most modern games the 1060 is faster due to the better chroma compression. But yeah now it is just a mid range card. The 980M is barely enough for high detail fhd gaming now. I am sure that will change next year. The 1060 will be a bit better but its not a card that I want to have for the next 2 or 3 years.
-
Really need a 3.0B 1070 GPU lol... MSI was so close but yet so far!
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk -
Yeah but, if the 1070n (or what it's called why the hell is it an N instead of an M?) is 30% faster than a 980M i'd say that's a pretty decent step up. maybe even enough to cover FHD gaming at more than "barley". I have my 980m hooked up to a 80hz 1440p crt (fw900) seems to do fine with not so new games but, i guess i'll find how slow it really is gta 5 and witcher 3.
maybe if we wait long enough there will be a 1070n that isn't extra wide and doesn't require cutting the frame to fit it in. -
The 1070N has Firestrike Graphics score of 18000 on average... The 980M is around 10000... So actually 80% faster then 980M!!!
-
well i know what my next upgrade will be then. will run this 980 for a while. maybe a smaller 1070n will come out by then. wow no more frame dips at 1440 and high gfx.TomJGX likes this.

To the Eurocom representative, are there plans to offer any of the 10 series cards in SLI? I notice you have AC adapters with higher wattage available too.

P870DM/P870DM-G can be upgraded to single GTX 1070. Unfortunately GTX 1070 supported doesn't have SLI connector so we are not able to support two cards inside.
-
Okay. But in the future do you think there will be ones with SLI connector? And if so, will you sell them?
-
They use an MSI 1070 in the DM-G... Funny thing is MSI have a 1070 SLI laptop so surprised Eurocom can't source those 1070s with SLI connectors.. @Eurocom Support
-
About the 1070m everyone's talking about that works on the P870DM-G (the one from MSI). It actually exists one that has the SLI connector:
https://m.intl.taobao.com/detail/detail.html?spm=0.0.0.0&id=541307845096
What I don't know is if it actually works... on the P870DM-G of course. Hopefully someone tries it. Because otherwise my own P870DM-G is going to become obsolute... It's way too painful and absolutely CRUEL that Clevo would make something like this, a laptop that's limited to it's own generation of graphics card (P870DM was released in like 2014 or 2015 and the 980m 980(laptop) were released in those years as well). What's worse is not it just being limited by those cards... It's that the current gen cards are WAY WAY WAY more overpowered(in terms of performance) than those cards. A single Laptop 1080 is better than 980m in SLI... and by about 20-30% and a single laptop 1070 is only like 5% slower than 980m SLI. And then you add the fact that you can add 2 of these 1070 and 1080 in SLI and the 980ms look like a complete joke.
Just why is the motherboard of the P870DM2/DM3 different(has more I/Os)? It ruins everything... It makes you literally upgrade by spending another 3000-4000$ or more in another laptop... This is just sad.
And frankly it pi---s me off.
Which is why I hope someone tells me that SLI 1070s (from MSI) work on this Clevo P870DM-G. At least with those 2 I'm pretty much future proofed for a good 5-6 years at playing FHD at high framerates and high settings.hmscott likes this. -
The SLI'd 1070s (early rev, from the Vortex) I've used have their niggle with TB3.0 and I'm having driver issues in the P370EM I think because the BIOS is still in legacy mode (d'oh). When I get a fixed mobo back they'll be going in my P870DM. Hopefully within the month
But there will be a funky way of getting them to fit, since the P870DM issue is not with the cards, its that the 8mm slot gap is too close together for anything wider than mxm 3.0b standard, which with Pascal is bloody everything
I'm thinking adding some washers under the slave card to raise it up over the tab on the master card, and realigning the heatsink should be ok. Should only be a couple of degrees difference at the slot, which should be insignificantLast edited: Sep 3, 2017 -

We are supporting 1x GTX 1070 for now in P870M. We will have standard size MXM 3.0b card available in late November so then we may support 2x cards in SLI. Info about upgrades is here: http://www.eurocom.com/ec/upgrade(2,348,0)CLEVO_P870DM_SAGER_NP9870
Can one upgrade the gtx 980 on clevo p870dm-g to the GTX 1070 mxm?
