    Okay, he asked me for my S/N. I sent him, and now;
Comment: I recommend using this utility on the drive

    http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/staff/ryderocz/misc/sanitary_erase.zip

It is a destructive utility and will wipe all data on the drive, but it will also reset the drive and should fix any problems with the drive.

If after running the utility the problems continue then at that point is it likely just a faulty drive.

Still the same guy, oh, I think he forgot that my 30GB is unacsess and unusable :D However, I'll try this on my 120GB later on I think. I asked for RMA just before the weekend, still no reply.

Sounds a lot like a checklist to me... -> a secure erase apparently can fix performance issues, but it won't help if the amounts of writes are too much for the drive... ah well...

    :D
On the other hand, I have told him that my 30GB drive is dead, unusable. How on the earth should this be possible? ah well....

What else you can expect from a company like OCZ ?

A bit off topic. I was debugging a Microsoft .NET problem about two weeks back which pointed to a bug in their library. I started an instance with them. The first line support did similar thing(checklist) and immediately escalated that to next level. The second level went through a live session with me and knew he didn't have the knowledge to deal with the problem and escalated that again. The third level guy was very knowledgeable and while failed to solve my problem did admit that it is a bug of theirs(they had an internal database which logged similar reports from other developers) and has been fixed in a newer .NET framework.

The whole thing took two days, deal with 3 people and was handled in a very professional way. Comparing that with OCZ's (we know everything about SSD and just follow our checklist, you ...) attitude.

He still wonders if my dead drive shows up in BIOS. Is there any third level OCZ support? :D so we can take this a step further..?

For your information. I've cancled the Intel drive. I'm going to run that full wipe tool on my OCZ drive and try to see if it works out. However, the percent is down to 10 or something now. I'll raport back! :)

Oh? What happened to your Intel decision?

-> It would be strange if the drive suddenly reported itself healthy after a wipe...

    OCZ have closed my case!
I've just tried that tool on my 30GB drive. It only shows as 100MB and formating is always unsucessfull.

However, I'm going to contact them again, hope to meet another guy with checklists.....

I'm going to get a Intel drive, but not now. I may wait for the new drives, for real world performance :D

I have head much good about those, and we all ready got those in Norway, well some have. But if I buy the Intel drive, I know my self, I'll just let the OCZs die :D

If I remember correctly, his SMART value didn't show massive failure(i.e. BBR) but that of a very high P/E cycle used(which is used to measure the life). It may not be the same scenario as you are describing.

So, you suggest me to OCZ get away with this? Hell no.

Don't confuse friends, this is my 30GB drive. My father used this, I bought him :D However, the hardest task he do is to turn on this laptop. Only some surfing, reading the news maybe some movies or music one or two times each month. I won't belive it has 1/10 of my 120GBs valuves. I just sent OCZ another email.

One day, it was unbootable and I tried to reinstall the OS. Well, it were not possible, to say it that way.

I got the same guy answering me again! Still asks for my S/N. This is going to be hard, really hard.

This is the time at the year where I have most to do. Exams etc. Here is the OCZs reply on my case:

Comment: It is very unusual for a drive to be doing this. A faulty drive will not appear to be doing this. In the disk management utility in Windows are there other partitions on the drive? If so I recommend deleting all partitions so the drive is entirely raw/unallocated, and then check the capacity of the drive there. Alternatively you can send in the drives to us and we can examine them for you. Please note that if they do pass testing we will return the same drives to you.
    -------------------------------------------------------

Still the same polish sounding guy. I asked if they still would return me the drive if it pass with 100MB.. This case is turning ugly.

-> I think the best option is to send in the drive.

-> Exams, ah, I know the feeling. I have 3 of them coming up, plus the oral part of my project and its hand in date.

I have 3 of them coming up as well. 3 writen and 2 oral.
And, plus, I have one oral presentation and 3 tests next week.
    brb life, welcome school.

And this is my last year, so I have to do good, in order to study next year. I hate my life at the moment. I don't know if I even can send the drive before the summer.

    Ouch...

Well, for me it's the last of my 3 years at university.
(And I need at least a 2:1 overall -> First would be better - to continue academic life :D)

    Best of luck!!

    Comment:
I recommend deleting all partitions so that the entire drive is raw/unallocated.

What is the raw capacity of the drive, in bytes, as listed by the Windows disk management utility?

    A 120gb drive should be ~120,000,000,000 bytes. A 30gb drive should be ~30,000,000,000 bytes.

    My answer;
I can see you have hard time understanding this my friend, I have no partitions on this drive.

It would be strange if they have just one person for support ->although, 5 million or so Norwegians... how many buy OCZ products... hmm...

Alternatively, they have 2 or 3 people and you get referred to him all the time as he was the original contact...

I have actually never heard anything like this before. I mean, a drive which shows a size of 100mb.

However, I'll see what he reply and ask for a RMA ticket. It is unusable, so better be sending it off and try OCZ to understand my problem then just trashing it.

Finally, after tons of emails, OCZ asked me if I would send the drive to them for test? laughing out loud. I really wonder what kind if test it is going to be, hard times for my drive.
