Sometimes, I really do wonder what had happend if all the snow fall in Norway was in another country, like UK![]()
Thanks for that, I'll keep this therad (or make a new?) updated.
-
You should thanks god you didn`t get one of those unreliable OCZ with lots of freezing, bsods etc. Make a funeral where you sing songs of a warrior, a hero that withstood 27GB each day for many months. Tell him that you will always remember him, although you will be buying a Intel drive next time. If you don`t do this, you may have an unpleasant experience with a OCZ poltergeist coming back from the dead to mess up your Intel SSD.
-
REP added for this post!!
-
hehe thanks
-
Answer, everything collapses...
Same with the UK, same for Germany.
Apparently Moscow doesn't change - because it doesn't work in summer either... (or so a friend told me)
I suggest you keep this thread updated rather than starting a new one, but it's your choice in the end. If you do start a new thread, please link to it
Yes, I can't sleep... -
sorry fixed your statement
.
-
It is funny to see that sometimes.
I'll keep this therad updated then, let's see how good OCZ's support is!
I did also have problems with that, we just moved to summer-times
I laught at this
-
Did you do a fresh install of Windows to ensure good partition alignment in the first place? Or at least copy your OS using a tool capable of aligning the drive? If you didn't this could be causing massive write amplification...
-
-> If the OS starts to randomly stutter something is wrong, now it could be a trim issue, although considering that the tool reads SSD data from the "wearout indicator" put there by the manufacturer it is a worrisome condition.
-
Hello, thanks for your input. It is not my OS, because I've had this problem on my Qosmio too. That was however minimal, it is turning into a issue now.
What I've said above confirm this
-
I'm not saying its your OS. If you didn't align your partitions properly when you installed your OS onto your drive, it would cause write amplification, leading to premature drive failure...
Did you install the OS fresh onto the drive or not? -
tuηay, open AS SSD benchmark and post a screenshot of the window without running the actual benchmark.
Or you can just say if the AS SSD benchmark application reports alignment as 'good' in green or 'bad' in red. -
It would be interesting to hear if [they] respond.
and I fixed yours
-
I did, I hate people that hates clean install and always wants to clone their device...
Is this what you mean?
-
Yeah, your SSD is aligned. Anyone knoe if the nvidia driver supports TRIM or not?
-
I have bunch of other laptops with Intel Chipset. But I think after I get my new Intel drive I'll just return this and my other 30GB dead drive to OCZ. I just have to get my Intel drive first. Will have it in end of this week, I think.
-
Even if it doesn't it shouldn't affect drive health.
The only thing Trim does, is keep performance up to spec.
Although even that's dubious for an Intel G2 it does as well without Trim as with. -
I know, though I simply wanted to know if the driver supports trim or not.
-
I don't know as well if it does or not
But, should I do try to fix this or just simply return this and my other 30GB drive?
Problem with my other drive is that it is extreamly slow and gives bluescreen because it fails sometimes after a hard work. Unable to install any OS on it. -
I would try return or RMA it. It's given you too much trouble.
-
That was what I were thinking. I'm going to do that, I order my RAM sticks and SSD drive, got to get this laptop running before I can get another out of service.
-
Anything that causes issues, return and ideally maybe try to get a refund, OCZ is getting a worse and worse reputation with their SSDs.
-
I can try to boot up as second drive, if you want some SSDlife things? Just tell me if you're intrested...
-
I'll pass, thanks for the offer.
You already posted the result -> I mean, you could get the smart data from the drive using says crystal disk info and see if that tells you anything, the problem here is though, knowing how to interpret it... -
I mean for the 30GB drive. But I actually do not want to waste my time on trying to fix it. I paid for it, it should not be necessary.
-
Ah Ok.
No, let OCZ fix it for you. Good SSDs are a premium product, they should come without issues and with at least decent customer service. -
Okay - I'll contact OCZ today (maybe) as I have ordred my Intel drive
Takes few days before it arrive and I think I'll get respons from OCZ before that. Hopefully.
-
Hopefully.
Some companies are good at responding, some are bad.
So lets hope the quality of their SSDs is offset a bit by the quality of their service - in a positive way. -
You actually did make me laught
I'll try that, and keep you updated!
-
I just emailed OCZ, let's see how their support is!
-
Good
.
-
Jesus...
Comment: What motherboard and operating system are you using?
Is the drive detected by the computer's BIOS at all?
Are you receiving any error messages?
-------------------------------------------------------
Status changed by: Eric Von Stwolinski -
Oh dear
moron on the other line...
I suspect you met some "tech support person" who has no idea about technology and just goes through some checklist.
-> Demand a supervisor or someone higher up.
(And I'm a tad disappointed, the surname sounds very Slavonic, possibly Polish.) -
This is actually my first time contacting OCZ, and this case for me is going to be like buy or never anymore buy OCZ. I allready got 3 SSD drives from OCZ. The other 3th one is still alive tou, but it does not have so many hours and only been used for email, surfing etc.
I'll follow this case to the end and keep you updated on how good their checklist is
-
You actually would have a better luck on their support forum. Those support staffs there are a funny group of people but I have a hunch they are already the best in OCZ
-
I'd say try to get someone with knowledge, either send a detailed technical description and request it's sent to a supervisor or bug them about it.
-> Once you get to the people who actually know their stuff tech support is generally quite OK, but with some companies getting there is the difficult bit. -
hahahahaha!!! Priceless
-
I wonder if I just should link this therad to that guy and see what he replay?
-
Might be an option.
-
Yep. I'm going to wait untill the next replay I get, and link this therad to them. They can have fun reading it
-
Hehe
.
-
This guy keep asking the same question over and over again
However I did leave him a little note with link to this therad.
Comment By: Eric Von Stwolinski
-------------------------------------------------------
Comment: What motherboard and operating system are you using?
What happens when you attempt to install the operating system? What error message are you receiving? -
Same guy,
Comment: I need to know what the drive is doing to know what is wrong with the drive.
If you have two drives and both are not working there is likely something else going on, as the odds for two different drives to fail at the same time are extremely low.
There may be nothing wrong with the drives at all. In order to determine this I need some basic information.
What motherboard and operating system are you using?
How are you determining that the drive is faulty?
Are you encountering any error messages? If so what error messages are you receiving?
Also what are the part numbers of the products you have? The part number starts with OCZ. I do not know what drives you have.
I'm never, ever going to buy a OCZ product again
-
They must go to the same training school in order to do OCZ support
That is so similar to what they said on their support forums.
-
Going through his checklist...
Ask for senior support staff, a supervisor, and if they don't give you one, maybe try some consumer protection "agency"/institution in Norway? I'm sure they exist. -
Which School?
They should really .... change something!
There should be, I'll check this out
I linked him this therad, he is still asking for what my chipset is
How funny, he can see my signature and it is all there... And as my name is the same it should be very very very easy.. Gaaaad, how low can you go OCZ?
-
DetlevCM, when is this checkilst going to be done?!
Comment: Are you receiving any error messages when using the drive normally?
How are you determining that the drives are bad? What are they doing? How are they not working?
Do the drives appear in the BIOS? Can you access data on the drives and do they store data properly?
I'm starting to get mad over here.... By the way DetlevCM, we got bunch of more snow today :/ -
Their checklists are long...
I got through to someone senior with Belkin once or twice, but that was with a long detailed problem description, and they might have even remembered me the second time. -> Warranty replacements... twice... ah well, now it works.
I guess they could make their customers' lives easier by offering a tool similar to the SSD toolbox from Intel, but that would be too easy I guess.
Snow - hmm.... go skying? -
He again asked for my drives S/N, I'll send that him and see what he says.
Nooo, I don't like skying
-
Too bad on the latter
I like it... ah well, I suppose it depends on whether you have to for efficient transport, or whether you do because you can while on holiday.
Drive health is WARNING!
