yes you can try it (it's really easy to revert back if anything) is your SSD underperforming?

Thanks stamatisx, I can't notice any under performance as I have been using it only for a couple of weeks. I can't utilize full potential of my Kingston ssdnow v100 64GB due to constraints in my old laptop like SATA I, but I just wanted to try your tweaks and see what they might do. I have attached CDM before and after the tweak. I don't even understand whether it's better or not. Much appreciate your help.

your welcome, if the left screenshot is from before the tweak and the right is from after, then you would be better off without the tweak because your scores on the right are significantly lower (did you apply anything extra except from the registry tweak?)

I have disabled hibernation, scheduled defrag, disabled superfetch, prefetch and reduced the system restore space to 1Gb. Apart from these I didn't do any other changes, however, I'll revert to the original state as you have suggested. Thanks again for your time.

Wanted to say thanks for this thread and the tips, as both methods work and increased the 4k writes/reads a lot (either regedit the 2 values or disabling idle).

The problem as others pointed out is that now it's stuck at the highest Turbo Multi like all cores are busy. Not an issue if you're running anything that uses more than 4 cores but any less and CPU performance is lowered.

So does anyone know who or what is to blame here..? Intel and their power management or the SSD manufacturers? If it's just the way SSDs are then I'd guess Gen 3 SSDs will behave exactly the same way. ie: does anyone know if this still happens with Sandy-Bridge and/or Intel 6 chipset?

ok, i tried this tweak and unfortunately it disabled turbo boost cause it went up only to 1,83 ghz but i saw 19 MB/s in 4k read and 47 in write :p .

I think that the jjb tweak is the way for a tiny cpu like the 740

anyways, thank you stamatisx for the job, i hope that some intel's engineers listen you :D

I have an Intel 320 80GB on my computer and performances were not so great. I did the tweak there (could only do to the Intelppm folder because I had no Processor folder).

I'm running under Windows XP with a DELL E6400. And I saw a big improvement under AS SSD bench ! But now my processors are running always at 1.596Ghz or 798Mhz (its a 2.53Ghz normally). I cannot reduce the speed anymore and when I have a look at the CPUs in the devices manager, there is a yellow "!" on the 2 CPUs.

I try to delete them, reboot but then the value in the registry has changed back to normal, and performances are down again. Anybody got the same problem ? Is that tweak really for my computer/ssd ? I had a look and I've got a "series 4" chipset so should be ok I think.

Thank you guys in advance ! :) Looks like a great mod, would be perfect if there was not this CPU problem which I hope can be solved !

    Here are the screenshots :

First my SSD was not correctly aligned, but still gave good performances.

I realigned it with the (quite) long GParted method, then did stamatisx's tweak and here are the results :

Imo this is how my SSD should perform all the time.

Then I removed the tweak because it was not good with the CPU, and installed IRST and here are the results as they are now :

Realign the SSD did not give any improvement, but stamatisx's tweak yes. However I cannot keep it due to CPU frequency problems.

Is there a way to improve my SSD guys ? Or is there a problem with it (I bought it last week, so its brand new really).

You will get even better results by doing this:

Maximum SSD performance on your laptop with ThrottleStop and registry mod

(It still requires the registry mod though... )

For some reason I cannot disable EIST. I don't know what to do now because I really want to get the performances I should get otherwise I would have got a cheaper SSD. Should I take it back to the shop or is there anything I can do with it ? :) Thanks for the help anyway !

I applied stamatisx tweak into my system Dell Latitude E6400 (intel 4 series chipset). The performance increase significantly, but I got yellow exclamation mark in my 2 CPUs. Is there anyway to work around this??

Hi all, I need help here, i have a M17x r3 with 2630 i7 and I just installed a new intel 510 120GB SSD, here is my crystalmark

is this rather slow? what should i do to improve it?

I've already done AHCI, disable hibernation, prefetch, superfetch..etc basic tweaks.

update: i tried stamatisx's tweak and there seems to be improvements, can i improve somemore?

just a quick question, both of the tweaks (JBB and stamastisx) are not applicable to the Intel HM65 chipset, correct?

Great Job! I noticed this thread and added to a bookmark until I got a SSD.
JUST DISABLING C3/C6 states as mentioned in 1 post increased my 4K speeds from 13/23 to 22/43.

Question. Except this should I do else? Or JJB's?

I think Stamatisx tweak also disables turbo boost and increases heat. That's why we have JJB tweak.

Hmmm. I am sure disabling C3/C6 states didn't disable TurboBoost but... I have never seen it higher that 1.86 which is +1 to all 4 cores since I did it. Hmmmm. How to stress Cpu to check if it can tuboboost 2 and 1 cores?

I used throttlestop to check it and set 1 thread. Result was not higher than 1.86Ghz.

Yep. It didn't let turbo higher than +1 for all 4 cores. Not +6 for 2 cores or +9 for 1.
BUT My computer had fan working not such constant as it is now after I enabled it again. I will think about doing it again because I had no performance decrease which I could see while it was not so loud and was cooler.

    Will try JJB's

did this and the JJB tweak for my ssd.

I didnt see any mention of this in the OP or in the few pages I read, but I now get a device status code 32 for my cpu under device manager after.

That's for disabling the start type of the driver. anyone else have this happen, and do I need to undo the changes?

If you really want to kick your performance in the backside...download Throttlestop. Run it and disable C1E. When I did that, my 4k writes on my Samsung 830 went from 53mbps to 82 mbps.

One of the downsides...yeah! I just wanted to see what the Samsung 830 could do if not throttled by the system it was in. Unbelievable. I have it in my HP Envy 17, so I don't disable it...the drive is still fast...no need to push the envelope. However...when I upgrade my desktop...I am gonna disable C1E and a few other settings and get full throttle out of another SSD.

This tweak really helped my 4K randoms

    Config : Asus G73JH
SSD : Mushkin chronos deluxe 240 GB

I just did the Intelppm tweak, the Processor one had no additional benefits!

Before : around 12M read and 22M write
After : around 27M read and 48M write

That's excellent, even if I was able to get 30M read and 65M write on my old HP laptop that was 3 years old ... kind of lame when you think of it!

    Thanks anyway, great tip!!

good kennn13, if you didn't already have intel RST 11.5 alpha this trick might help you.

i already had those drivers so i doubt the intellppm and proc registry trick (in 1st post of this thread) did much for me. Proof is attached.

note the before was taken when puter was running for about 5hrs, the after is freshly taken after rebooting.
