Everything loads up much quicker and the boot time is just over 20 seconds with the stock 7200RPM HDD that's installed. So yeah, you can notice a difference but not really significant when doing work on your laptop as it does end up on my processor.

8 GB, I use Photoshop frequently along with Sony Vegas Pro 9, and After Effects CS5, they all use excessive amounts of RAM, especially the last 2, I edit 1080p videos and at times when doing RAM renders, I max out to 7.9 and I start lagging like hell, as hard drive is being used as RAM.. might need more XD

Anyone think it's time for a new thread? This one was started in early 2009 and I know a lot of us have purchased new laptops since then . . .

I would love to see a new/current poll - especially if the poll/posts included what apps were used, what the maximum RAM the NB supports and the O/S used. Especially more granularity on the 'above 8GB RAM' option.

With some current NB's accepting over 24GB RAM, I think this one is done.

Waiting for a new poll - Thanks!

How about starting a new thread and time limiting the poll to 6 months or so. At the end of this time period, start a new thread and so on. Each new thread would link back to the previous threads and so it would be possible to compare current numbers with the past.
