the deal seems sweet but shipping to dubai....im not that sure

i cant actuallycant beleive the price difference either i had checkked for *1Gb rams @ 667mhz here in Dubai and it would cost me 232$ which is quite pathetic
as compared to the prices elsewhere

I can't wait; unfortunately for me Lenovo is taking their good old time.
The heat spreaders don't matter for notebook RAM as far as I know, so don't waste your time with them. :)

2GB here and no planning to upgrade in the near future. I found in Vista, i seldom use 100% of the capacity. My main use of the NB is office 2007 (excel and outlook at the most), firefox, DVDs and light photo touch.

I currently have 1Gb but this weekend I will be upgrading to 2Gb but I am trying to decide if I should go with 533mhz cas 4 for 667mhz cas 5. The 533mhz is currently the cheaper of the two and I know the higher cas of the 667mhz ram offsets it speed increase.

Currently have 1GB in my FE, but my new laptop will most likely have 2GB. Nothing more and nothing less. My 6 year old desktop has 512MB.

yeah. 1GB is running low for me. playing FEAR laggs during gameplay because the HDD seams to be read the whole time in XP. have to lower settings for it to run better.
    or close all background programs...

i need to upgrade to 2GB. 2 GB will surely do for me.

BTW, what happens if you run at 2 GB and disable or/and lower virtual memory to max 10MB? can anyone try this? and what would happen if you play games that way..? it should lower hdd activity, right?

Just two GB for now. I'm not sure an E1705 would recognize and use 4GB on my pre-meron model. I noticed improvements in Photoshop and some gaming after going from 1 to 2 GB. If the price and means were available I would love a 100 GB of ram. Ram disks are a kick if you can afford it. 1 meg ram disks were awesome in my old 512>2MEG "monster" Mac of 1986.

    Desktop: 2GB DDR2

I actually use the ram though! How else could I run 5 servers and play bf2142 all on the same PC without 2gb minimum?

2GB is enought until I buy another notebook next year. I sell my notebook every year (while it is still worth something) and get a new one.

    2GB for laptop
    2 GB for desktop
That is enough for now (or at least until SP1 for Vista appears).

2GB for Desktop - MCE2005 - will do a complete upgrade next year, mobo, cpu, RAM to 4GB, gfx cards and PSU.

2GB for laptop (2GB max supported) which is already an overkill for what I do with it.

    Ripped off is an understatement!

NEVER, never, ever buy anything from a rental place!!! First, that notebook is at least 3-4 years old, second it would be a very USED notebook too.

I put 4GB into my notebook and realised that no 945 chipset notebooks I know of actually have full 4GB support, so I'm stuck at 3.4GB even with a 64-bit OS and C2D (BIOS reports 4GB).

I've got 1GB(512MBx2) 533MHz DDR2 RAM for my laptop. I'd like to upgrade to 2GB but don't have the cash to do so, and I'm not sure if I should just wait till I get my next laptop(a long way off unfortunatly) to get 2GB. 4GB is probably unnecessary but it would be something to brag about.

Yesterday I got my ThinkPad and I installed the 4GB of RAM I bought for it, so now I can officially say I have 4GB of RAM in my laptop (even though Vista 32-bit only shows 3062MB ;)).

4GB DDR 667 on Dell M1210 but showing only 3325MB on Vista x86.

It runs smoother and Ive tweaked the OS so it runs in memory. Apparently it does- does anyone know a way to check? RAM usage seems same as before!

1.5 Gb (512 Mb and 1 Gb modules), and oddly enough, CPU-Z says it's running in dual channel mode? o_O

The extra 1 Gb I put a few weeks ago gave me a highly noticable performance increase, especially when playing games.

Chaz, any noticeable degradation in performance going back down to 2gb's from 4?

What brand of ram did you purchase again? Was it the OCZ from frys.com?

I haven't noticed any performance difference actually. I wasn't using 2GB of memory when I had 4GB (Vista only shows 3062MB in my system) so I guess that is why. Usually I hover around 1.2 - 1.6GB memory usage. Vista seems to use less memory when I only have 2GB in. It is sticking around 1.2GB now. When I had 4GB installed I was using another ~400MB or so. But like I said, I haven't noticed any performance decrease.

In other news I sent my RMA form to Super Talent today via email and I'll keep you guys updated . . .
Your chipset has a feature called asynchronous dual-channel which allows the memory to run in dual-channel mode even if the RAM sticks aren't matching. Asynchronous dual-channel doesn't provide the performance boost of dual-channel though. Dual-channel doesn't do much for the Core 2 Duo in notebooks anyway it seems.

Just FYI, I'm not using a Core 2 Duo. XD

BTW, just a question. The asynchronous dual-channel mode doesn't offer the performance increase of dual channel, or it doesn't offer AS MUCH performance increase dual-channel mode gives.

Well, decided to take the plunge and bought another Patriot 2gb density stick from frys.com seeing as how the 2gb density PC2-5300 SODIMM stick prices are on the rise. I originally entered the poll at 2.5GB's; you can now put me down for 4Gb's.

It doesn't offer as much of a performance increase. There is still a performance increase. ;)
My RMA request got approved so I'll be sending the stick in tomorrow to get replaced. Hopefully this won't take too long. :)
