The 4870m and 4850m are actually a bit stronger and easier to find. The MSI 4850m in particular is not very difficult to find and is still significantly stronger than today's standard iGPU. Your Clevo may have issues with the temp sensor though. In addition these cards only have 512MB of memory, which is often limiting.

    Hi sicily,
Sorry for taking so long to reply.
Yes, the GTX 1070 in the very first picture is mine.

And the heatsink is the exact same one as in this video:

    (but I dont know if that's a GTX 1070 or 1080...).

    And same heatsink:

But I think he's opening one with a 1070 according to his review.

(I just opened my GT73VR 7RE to check my GTX 1070).
So would I need to change the heatsink? Because the heatsink is identical to both videos.
(and if so, how would I get the heatsink?)

*edit* found a video with the 1080:

no problem, we could ask :)
Hi @Phoenix is it your laptop? is it a gtx1080?
Do you know if the heatsink of a gt73vr with gtx1070 is compatible with these cards?

Sorry, i edited my post with a video right after you replied. Last video has a different heatsink. So I guess I would need (one or both?) heatsinks and VRM heatsink, and thermal pads.

It's the exact same as in the last two pictures (layout wise) but its GT73VR 7RE.

It seems there are TWO GTX 1080's. I'm looking at the pictures.

    *EDIT* wait a minute.
Why are the pictures the exact same in the notebookcheck review of 1070 and 1080?
They are using the exact same pictures...That doesn't seem right....

    (i edited my post).

at the moment alienware M18x r2 is successful updated with gtx980m SLI and Gtx1060
    I'm really curious about Gtx1070

I'm fairly confident if GTX 1060 works, GTX 1070 will work. Currently I'm bidding on a used M18xR2. If I win, I might try out the 1070 after selling the dual 680M's.

However, I've never bought from taobao and have no idea how to do so since I heard I need a forwarder service.

I'm actually curious, on the TI post, the card sits up a bit because of a big capacitor. The GTX 1070 doesn't seem to have a big capacitor on the back unless I missed it.

If people would like me to stock thier products I probably could but do they even have a website with contact details ?"

The MSI 1060 also costs as much as the GeCube 1070.

MSI 1070 is like $300 more than GeCube 1070 lol, wish the prices were cheaper for the MSI cards.

this has likely less to do with general reliability of the gecube cards, but rather user error by flashing random vbios versions from the web, most of which in turn overload the standard MXM 3.0b boards. those vbios versions were originally designed to support higher TGP boards and thus the gecube cards get fried quite easily. this from @Prema, btw

I cannot figure out whether to go the safe route and upgrade to the 980M, which is a plague in itself, or try to upgrade to the 1070.

Talking about my MSI GT70 (MS 1762).

    Any suggestions folks?
