Well at least we can see that we don't necessarily have to rely on SuperPi for testing processing speed..

Why aren't we using 2.0? It is supposedly more accurate for comparing multicore/modern processors.

Also, for some reason v1.55 is not taking full use of my proc (1.55 versus 2.00 attached below).

On 1.55, one needs to go into Advanced Settings & set the number of threads to the number of cores in your CPU.

Kind of obvious now that you have pointed it out...

Anyways, attached is the score for my W90Vp-A1 using wPrime 1.55.

    That's what I thought too. I use v2.0 because it's the newest.
But every veteran here kinda like "you should use 1.55 instead"

2.0 is fine and 1.55 is fine as well.

This thread just seriously needs to be updated....

I do not have the time to redo the huge HTML tables.... I might make it simpler later using vB coding.

If another mod or user wants to update it, they are welcomed to.... just PM me the final HTML code and I'll update the post. :)

Maybe easier just to start anew? Who knows how far back you will need to go to start gathering the new information. So if you start new we flush out the old data and old users.

I would lose my old scores since I do not have those systems anymore, but it would be a good idea to move to version 2.0 now since its offical and on hwbot as the new submit method.

on that note here is my W90 record right now

well if everyone is submitting their scores properly, they should be able to look at the results and compare them on hwbot.

    E7500 @ 3.5ghz scores 23.5 secs on Wprime 2.0

Anyone got a higher score for a dual core in a notebook here?

Was that E8500 overclocked? Running at a higher fsb and having twice the lvl 2 cache would of course give it the edge too. I would have one if it weren't for the fsb limitations the C90S has.

its fine, the clocks on a notebook CPU are usually being throttled, so it picks up the speed in the middle of the throttling.

if you set your CPU to run at full speed the whole time, then the clock speed will be accurate.

you score is about right though. :)

    I have a new laptop mobile cpu score. Hows 13.774 seconds sound for a 2.0ghz Q9000 OCed to 2.915ghz :p almost a 50% OC

This is with WPrime 1.55, it would have been a bit faster on the new version or if I had optimized the computer for the test.

Not so much the FSB as the RAM overclock and low timings.

The largest difference from your cpu and mine is mine was like $150 and included in the cost of my machine :p

IIRC, there was a slight change in the algorithm between 1.55 and 1.58 that resulted in a slight difference in times with all other things equal. There's probably a slight difference between 1.55 and 2.00, as well. So the scores aren't 100% comparable, and for the best accuracy, you want everyone to be using the same version.

Can someone explain why wPrime gave me better scores (fewer seconds) for the 32M test on my stock CPU clocks (BCLK) and worse scores (more seconds) on my CPU overclocks?

I used the settings of 4 threads.

I thought overclocking the CPU would increase its processing power and lower the seconds needed to compute in wPrime.

    My CPU is a i5-450m in a Acer 3820TG.
