    HP NC8430 T2300, 1.5gb ram, 100gb sata HDD
    AC = 1.25
    Batt = 1.26

    I'm quite happy with the T2300 and it's performance considering it's on the bottom rung

    Thats pretty impressive. My Dv2000z with same specs (except with Turion X2) did it in 2 min 07 sec on AC. C2D beats the bottoms off all current mobile CPUs. However, I'm perfectly happy with my turion X2 notebook which sold for a mere $900 CAN. Looks like its rapidly growing in popularity too and I can see why.

    Thanks for posting this! It'll give people a good idea of the difference between the Core 2 Duo and the Core Duo at the same spec. For 1M digits of Pi I got 24s (I re-calculated it after the performance tweaks), and for 2M I got 59s. So there's an 8.3% performance increase of Super Pi going from the Core Duo to the Core 2 Duo of the same clock speed.

    Hi guys,

    I did this test on my ancient 6/7 year old desktop PC just for a but of fun to see what it would get.

    Specs:

    PIII 864MHz
    128MB RAM
    NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro ("the first family of high performance graphics...")
    40GB HDD ????rpm

    Running XP Home (very slow...) with only this thread on Firefox running and no background programs. (33 processes total)

    Time:

    10 m and 11s. :D :eek: :rolleyes: :p

    Can anybody tell me whether this is fast or slow for a system of this age and specs. Thankyou.
    Peter.

    2G Intel Core Duo
    2GB RAM
    100GB 7200 RPM
    ATI Mobility X1600

    1 min. 17 sec.

    I did not disable any background tasks, I only have what is necessary running, i.e., Zone Alarm Anti-virus, Windows Defender, Intel wireless, touchpad driver, a couple of other very small things. I thought it would give a realistic test, since this is the state my system always is in. I got the same result (1min. 17 sec.) on battery power, I let the auto power setting (Power 4 Gear) adjust automatically to "Quiet Office" as it does on battery power.
