Seeing as I already have a mydigitalSSD mSATA in my laptop as my primary.. i'd use the combo for extremely fast and reliable R/W speeds on-the-go! :)

btw.. I do have a question - why not make a smaller enclosure? I see a 30% space savings folks.

First - Thank you for the incredible opportunity!

I would be using this as my "mobile" drive". It would house my CAD Drawings, current projects, school work, etc. (basically anything and everything that I need to transport between home, work, and school) Being able to have something that is able to not only be used as my mobile USB hard drive, but also be capable of being installed in my laptop as a 2nd drive when I am moving files that are a little to large to move quickly over USB 3.0 would be incredible. (I never seem to get a steady high transfer rate out of USB 3.0 in all situations) If it is something that worked out well I would probably buy a second mSATA drive to go with the enclosure/laptop to make my life even easier.

    Thanks again!

I've been looking to purchase an mSATA, and I would use it for my boot drive so that I can have a large number of drives on my laptop for video editing! :)

the answer is a no-brainer. I'd put the 256GB mSATA drive into my Samsung Series 9 in place of the 128GB drive it came with. I'd use the mSATA USB 3 enclosure kit with the drive removed from the Samsung for additional portable storage.

How would you use the MyDigitalSSD BP3 256GB mSATA SSD and mSATA to USB 3.0 Combo Kit?

I'd put the mSATA SSD into my current laptop to use for the OS and certain programs, and when I get a new laptop that already has an SSD in it, I would use the cable to turn the mSATA drive into portable storage.

WAW This could be PERFECT for my pc ,this days i was looking for one of this to replace(in my wishes) my old 80GB hdd of my Amilo Xi1526 my old laptop with lcd dead pixels (at least in ssd i could get speed because it`s already upgrade to maximum possible in other components and outdated i think, it was remaining the hdd to replace), specs of my laptop: Intel 2Duo T7200+GeForce go 7600+80gb5400rpm, but due the financial crises here in country , i don`t know if i ever get rid of "10 min chill out after Window 7 starts", seems it`s takes decades to calm down,I was thinking to give my laptop to my sister by Christmas (who is in the 9th grade) a little help for his work on school (but with this hdd this pc has, nothing will help her), thanks for this opportunity

The SSD would go into the Lenovo Y580 I've had my eye since my Dell Inspiron 8600 suffered a sudden death by Diet Coke. The SSD, cable and enclosure would be used if I opted for the Asus N76VZ, or N56VZ I've been researching on NR! Thanks, guys.

How would you use the MyDigitalSSD BP3 256GB mSATA SSD and mSATA to USB 3.0 Combo Kit?

    ----

Well, over a year ago, my girlfriend who's studying abroad needed a laptop as her Sony VAIO was completely bricked. So I thought I'd source for her a reliable laptop that performs pretty well. We had months of deliberation and she finally decided not to get a new computer and continue using a home desktop for her college stuff - an 8 year old Pentium 4 tower, due to current financial constraints. Of course, it all didn't go as smoothly as planned because at some point of time, the desktop actually died just about 7 months back and it's left with just a working monitor.

It happened to be the case where in my country, there was a large tech sale event going on at that point of time and I thought I help contribute in terms of money, to buy her a new laptop since she always rejected the idea of having me to fork out 100% of the cost; on all occasions; when we met for dinner outside, watching a movie and such.

So I was holding on to this current HP DM3-1035tx I bought in early 2010. I thought I could send her this laptop and get myself a new one, (again, since she wouldn't agree on having me to get her a new system) after a bit of deliberation and when the tech sale was on the final day she finally agreed to take the HP DM3-1035tx laptop. At that point of time, the wireless N NIC in the laptop was slightly faulty, called up HP for a service call and also as a gesture of goodwill since I've mentioned the brushed aluminium surface was rather corroded, they completely replaced the laptop's chassis! The result - a laptop that looked just like a new unit and I was ready to give that to her.

To keep things short, these were the things I'm aware of and she discovered when she received that laptop. The laptop's actually still in the pink of health and very well maintained apart from the fact that on her first thoughts:
    • The left, bottom corner (left of the touchpad) always feels like its burning 50-60 Celsius. That's where the HDD is located at.
    • It was once my laptop before I sent it to her over a year ago.
    • It's 7200 RPM and it vibrates a lot such that sometimes she feels computing on that laptop is pretty uncomfortable, the processor and GPU side are running at fair temperatures though.
    • As we're in to the final years of college, she needed the system to be reliable but getting a completely new system is off bounds to us at the moment.

I knew she needed the system to be a lot cooler because she's using the DM3 as a mobile computer and the HDD saps battery life and produces too much heat such that it feels very uncomfortable to have it on her lap.

As time passes, the HDD's performance also gets increasingly sluggish. With the occasional lockups with HDD rattling sounds she talked to me about, I'm extremely concerned if the HDD would die in the near future as she doesn't have data backups or external storage to do that. The data stored on the HDD was also extremely important to her - it's like second to me.

What I'm planning to do was actually to convince her to get a SSD to replace that hard drive. I've been a SSD user myself for nearly a year now and I knew among the SSDs, their level of reliability varies and my first SSD I'm currently using now's a Samsung830 but I'm constantly on the lookout to get her a good alternative.

I'm thinking mSATAs as opposed to SATAs because they have one exterior cover less and it's likely to run at lower temperatures when compared to usual SSDs and they can be brought on to future laptops, since mSATA's really taking off on laptops and ultra-books.

The bad thing? Retail availability of mSATA drives are extremely limited, that makes the MyDigitalSSD BP3 and Crucial m4 mSATA the strongest contending mSATA SSDs. OCZ drives are not in my books. Assuming all variables are unchanged, BP3 might be just better, in terms of pricing it already is!

As a plus, it comes with a combo kit - just what she needs for cloning the current HDD's data to the SSD. We can't afford a factory reset.

So in short if I won the SSD, I would not use it myself. I would give it to my girlfriend as a gift and let her use it on her laptop instead. That would breathe new life into that DM3 laptop and give her the best computing experience on that laptop with reliability (the 0.3% defect rates are extremely respectable), extremely low operating temperatures, no annoying vibrations and speed would give her DM3 a total face lift. I've seen it happen to my current laptop, I'm sure MyDigitalSSD BP3 would do the same!

Given the good records of this SSD, I'm even likely to pledge allegiance with - SSDs in the future :).

Best of luck to all. :)

    My girlfriend's laptop:
    DM3-1035tx
-Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300 (Penryn)
    -NVidia GeForce G105M
    -4GBs of RAM
    -7200RPM 500GB Hitachi HDD
-SATA II connector, but I'm sure even running the MyDigitalSSD@ SATA II speeds it'll be blazing fast.

I would replace 64GB Samsung 830 in our laptop which is diminishing rapidly. 64GB would go to wife's sister's laptop which is aging badly.

Hey, as someone who would like to learn about computers, I would teach myself how to install this into my computer. I would also attempt to learn how to use it to boot up my computer. I would have already learned this but I haven't had the money to buy a ssd l but I hear that they are incredibly fast and I love learning about computers and would possibly be interested in it as a career. To sum it all up, it would allow me to further my knowledge about computers and have one heck of a speedy drive! Thank you for the opportunity to win!

Lets be realistic here. I would use it as a boot drive for my recently purchased Y580 Ideapad, as well as storage for games. Luckily for this contest, the y580 comes with an open msata slot. I would turn a below average gaming laptop into a truly awesome machine. I would use the combo kit as a paperweight. I wouldn't really, but I just realized I'm too young to win the contest. Now where's a time machine when you need one?

I actually bought a MyDigitalSSD BP3 (256GB mSATA III) for my one-year-old IdeaPad Y570 in July of 2012 just to try it out as I have never used an SSD before. I like how it worked like a charm right after I popped it into the mSATA slot. I'm planning on purchasing a new gaming laptop after Haswell CPU comes out next year and I would like a new MyDigitalSSD on board. :hi2:
As for the Enclosure Kit, I would use it when I decided to transfer my Y570's OS from its 5,400 rpm to my older MyDigitalSSD BP3.

I would use the "MyDigitalSSD BP3 256GB mSATA SSD and mSATA to USB 3.0 Combo Kit" to upgrade my existing or future laptop. The SSD will be great for optimizing my OS and quickening the pace in which everything loads. I will store my video projects on the SSD so I can work on them more efficiently. The USB 3.0 combo kit will prove to be useful in transferring files between my HDD and the SSD, without having to remove the HDD in my laptop first or using an alternate transferring source while waiting for the SSD to be installed.

I would use it all to upgrade my brand new ASUS S56C laptop. It has a really small amount of space on the current SSD it came with, I want to say only about 80 GB. I know I need more space, and I've never experienced anything with a SDD, yet. mSATA to USB 3.0!? Yes please! I would totally use that converter as more and more of my devices can only be taken full advantage of if you have USB 3.0.

Thanks for the great opportunity!

I would use the MyDigitalSSD BP3 256GB mSATA SSD and mSATA to USB 3.0 Combo Kit as my primary "take-anywhere" external SSD with my most commonly used data. This would be a birthday gift to myself as I usually don't get gifts from anyone anymore.

Hopefully it would reduce the heat coming from my Intel drive (I'm going to use it with an adapter). As for the mSATA to USB 3.0 it's always nice to have spare cables, as you don't know when you'll need one :)

I will put the SSD in my thinkpad, effectively having 3 storage devices in a relatively small 14" form factor.

I will insert ANOTHER MyDigitalSSD into the enclosure so I can effectively turn it into a super fast and extremely portable external drive for my media & personal storage needs. Considering the failure rate for traditional disk based external drives is fairly high, i think an external SSD will be put to good use for significantly longer periods of times. The faster read and write times are just icing on the cake.

Thanks for the giveaway and good luck to everyone.

I'd use it in the enclosure right now as my M18x R1 doesn't have an internal mSata port. However, I am looking at upgrading my laptop fairly soon to an R2 with better GPU's so I would then use it internally as additional storage to run along side my 512gb Raid 0 SSD's. Just a shame that the intenal mSata port of the M18x R2 only runs at Sata II speeds. Anyway, I never win anything so I won't hold my breath LOL.

Nice idea though, guys! Good luck to all!!

On a side note, and not to be ungrateful of the offer to win, it might be a good idea to offer the mSata to Sata adapter too ( MyDigitalSSD mSATA to 2.5" SATA II/III 6G SSD Adapter - MDMS-MSATA-ADPT) - that way, the winner could utilize the drive INTERNALLY in a notebook that doesn't have a mSata port (like mine) and not be restricted to USB 3.0 speeds if you have an internal Sata III 6gbps port available!

I would put the SSD into the mSATA slot on my (fingers crossed) soon to be ordered new laptop, image the OS onto it, get another mSATA SSD to put in the enclosure for media storage because my media library would completely clog up an undedicated SSD extremely quickly and I don't currently have any free SSDs. If I could manage it I would go SSD all the way and forget about HDDs entirely because they are much faster, more efficient, and so much quieter.

I build and customize for quiet systems whenever I can and SSDs are always a step in the right direction.

This giveaway is a wonderful idea and I hope that whoever gets their shiny new mSATA SSD appreciates it!

I would probably replace my 64GB msata with the 256GB msata in my laptop, and then use the 64GBmsata with the enclosure.

Either that or buy an msata to 2.5" sata adapter and try to install it in my old laptop, and not use the enclosure.

I would put the mSATA SSD into the slot the available in my laptop. I would exchange this with the TV tuner that is currently in place, and put than into the mSATA to USB 3.0 enclosure :)

Of course if that doesn't work out, I would get an appropriate adapter or just let it be!

    Cheers

I'd use it to store my important files.

I'll attach it to the USB 3.0 ports on my notebooks and desktop.

I would use this SSD to replace my slow 5400 RPM drive, as well as use it to speed up rendering of 3D models.

Replace the 5400 HDD with the SSD and place the HDD in the USB3 enclosure, make it an external drive.
