The NVIDIA 11 Series Just A Rebrand - Say What? (another rumor)

Is The NVIDIA 11 Series Just A Rebrand - Say What?
11xx as a refresh, and Nvidia's business sense
Submitted 3 days ago by Afrikan_J4ck4L
https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/8w520e/11xx_as_a_refresh_and_nvidias_business_sense/
"An interesting theory I encountered involves the rebranding of 10xx series cards as the new 11xx series.
This will involve shifting cards down a tier. Eg: 1080 - > 1170. But this will allow NV to supply market demand for "new" hardware while also depleting dated stockpiles without marking down the apparent masses of old stock around.
This has the added benefit of allowing time for the development of a proper 7nm chipset... The "GTX 20xx" series, for instance.
My question here is, is there anything that would prevent NV from doing something like this?"

"This will involve shifting cards down a tier. Eg: 1080 - > 1170.
This is what Nvidia did with Kepler from the 600-->700 series, just adding one new chip on top for the 780/Ti. It's also what AMD tries to do every generation. They haven't had a cohesive single design covering a full series since the HD7000 series.
My question here is, is there anything that would prevent NV from doing something like this?
Competition from AMD. Basically, only Nvidia can stop themselves from doing that, and I'd hope they wouldn't. Even if the 11 series is short lived due to rapid availability of 7nm, I'd still want a proper 11 series and not a refresh."Last edited: Jul 8, 2018Papusan likes this. -

Nvidia Next-gen PCB Prototype leaked?

"This looks like the "big Turing" GPU that would go into the 1180 Ti or new Titan.
- It has 12GB of GDDR6 for 672 GB/s of peak bandwidth.
- The 12 14Gbps 8Gb chips (thanks for the data sheet lookup) signify "big" Turing whereas 8 chips signify the smaller 104-type part.
- Genuinely looks like a prototype board.
- It has 3 8-pin power connectors (very odd, 2 is more likely in the final board).
- Those little fans are loud as hell and certainly temporary.
- Lots of little headers for connecting testing equipment.
Also, since OP took his post down, the original picture can be found on videocardz."
From the other thread:

"They could basically rebrand the 1080 ti as 1180, 1080 as 1170 and 1070 as 1160 and release only one new card, gv102 based flagship as 1180 ti ( ^^the big gpu prototype leaked on reddit daya ago ^^) to harvest dies that couldnt make it to titan V. It would be a short lived gen anyways since 7nm is close."

NVIDIA Gives Away Kingston SSD with the purchase of a 1050 or 1060

From the looks of it, NVIDIA might be trying to clear some stock as they offer a free SSD if you purchase a GeForce GTX 1050 or 1060 through select resellers. The promotion might have a geo cap though.

EXCLUSIVE: NVIDIA’s Next Generation Graphics Cards Specifications, Pricing And Nomenclature Details
Release schedule of the brand new graphics cards
I was also able to talk about the expected release schedule and my source seemed to confirm what has been stated for quite some time now – namely that the lineup will be following a staggered release schedule. As has been the case since the start, our source refused to call them by any particular name and wanted to only refer to them as the small, medium and big GPU so I will resort to the TDP naming convention once again.
Add in board partners and vendors of NVIDIA are expecting to have the SKUs stocked by the following dates, which is around the same time we should see them released:
- The NVIDIA next-gen 120W GPU will be arriving at the end of September.
- The NVIDIA next-gen 150W GPU will be arriving by the second week of September.
- The NVIDIA next-gen 180W GPU will be arriving in the first week of September.

Promotional Bundles and Price Cuts on Various GeForce 10 Cards
NVIDIA is running the campaign through a variety of top retailers and their board partners. The marketing scheme involves bundled promotions such as SSD bundles with a range of GeForce 10 graphics cards and also the NVIDIA exclusive game promo which includes a copy of Destiny 2 and it’s two DLCs, Curse of the Osiris and Warmind.
The entire lineup has received the promo which includes GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, GeForce GTX 1070, GeForce GTX 1060 and the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. It’s note worthy that since this is a region-specific marketing campaign right now which includes the UAE, UK, and Portugal, prices are based in either British Pound or AED. Also, being region specific also means that not all manufacturer graphics cards would be included in the campaign, based on your location.Vasudev likes this. -

The point is that requiring creatives to create for both the 99.9% (new and old non-RTX hardware) as they have been - only to add a bunch of work to feed the 0.1% with ray-tracing goodies is an unnecessary and unreasonable burden.
Nvidia should have made RTX functionality throughout their new lineup, all the way down to the lowest performance and highest % shipping models.
As this holds true for Nvidia RTX and Microsoft DXR features, 99.9% of the marketplace has no support for it.
Unfortunately it will induce the nVidiot's into spending way too much money just to click to enable a "RTX / DXR / Raytracing" box in Half-Life 3...Last edited: Aug 14, 2018 -

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti
Unraveling NVIDIA's biggest enigma to date...
Exciting times
We’re going to see a lot of new stuff in the weeks, months and year to come. Anything from Geforce RTX 2050, 2060, 2070, 2080, 2080 Ti, RTX Titan and so on. It will be very interesting to see who will release what, as the initial release, of course, will be a founder edition solely, with likely a month later to see new AIB/AIC board partner products, often with improved cooling.
I hope you enjoyed this little write-up, more next week, of course. Have a good weekend!

Bloody hell, RTX 2080ti might have 48% more cores than RTX 2080! See here:
https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/geforce-rtx-2080-price-specs,news-59003.html
So that's 4352 cores vs 2944 cores: 48% more cores. That's a massive difference in potential performance if you can cool the ti version - how about water cooling on that puppy, you might get close to 48% increase in performance over RTX 2080 if you water cool that ti! I can't see why anyone would buy the RTX 2080 if that's the case, everyone should just save up & buy the RTX 2080ti, it seems better value for money unless they sell RTX 2080 for about $600. (Well, $675 mathematically, but you should pay a little premium for a ti card) (Mind you $600 is about right for a GTX **80 card?) These are leaks, so we're not talking absolute facts here, but not long to wait till all is revealed, perhaps Monday.Last edited: Aug 18, 2018 -

1) I don't need it yet, I'll probably only buy a new card when my GTX 1070 doesn't push enough frames in online multiplayer, e.g. 144fps in BF V at decent settings.
2) I think with this advent of these new Ray Tracing & Tensor Cores, I think it's an immature new tech - we don't know how many games are gonna take advantage of it, plus I believe the next GPU architecture after Turing will be the one where they further optimise Ray Tracing & Tensor Cores or perhaps even scrap it based on their experiences with the games available & upcoming. Perhaps consoles really need to get Ray Tracing & Tensor Cores for the games market to take flight with it.
Yep, so currently unlikely I'll be upgrading to this new architecture, I'll see how it pans out though in relation to what I'm talking about above. -

This GTX 1080 Ti bundle is a great value for first-time PC builders
The graphics card alone usually costs $700 or more
By Cameron Faulkner @camfaulkner Aug 17, 2018, 11:12am EDT
https://www.theverge.com/good-deals...80-ti-bundle-vega-first-time-pc-builders-deal
"Building a gaming PC with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti inside isn’t a cheap endeavor, usually requiring at least $700 for the card alone. But just ahead of the expected launch of Nvidia’s RTX 2080, it’s likely no coincidence that it’s more affordable today at B&H. You’ll find the 1080 Ti as part of a $999 EVGA bundle that’s perfect if you want to build a powerful PC from scratch.
The GTX 1080 Ti in question comes with a huge list of extras, including: an ATX case, 850W modular power supply unit, ATX motherboard that’s compatible with the latest Intel CPUs, a liquid-cooling system, tuners to help improve airflow with the liquid-cooling system, an SLI bridge that allows you to link up a second 1080 Ti, and finally, an adapter that reroutes the GPU’s power cords for better cable management.
According to B&H, purchasing each of the components separately would cost around $1,800.
This isn’t a fantastic deal if you’re just looking to snag a high-end GPU for less, as we expect the price for this and other 10-series Pascal GPUs to fall if the next-gen series launches at competing price points.
And we’re not sure that all of the included components are essential to a good PC build, but the $999 price makes it pretty hard to resist. You could build the PC for someone else, or just as a backup of your own."

Tesla has been relying on chips from Nvidia to power its autopilot and self-driving car features, specifically Nvidia’s PX2 platform.
But last week, Musk “let the cat out of the bag” about the carmaker’s own chip efforts.
Nvidia is out, to be replaced in all Teslas with a chip developed internally. “I’m a big fan of Nvidia, they do great stuff,” Musk noted before giving Nvidia the axe."

From what I have seen the TDP for RTX 2080 (not Ti) isn’t fully clear. Some places talk about 210w. Other places 250 and even 285w same as Ti. But a fully single RTX 2080Ti would fit very well in a chassis like the Clevo P870 -
