    A suggestions..

Do a continuity check to ensure the resistor does go to PIN4 as it appears to do. If so, then touch heat the bottom side of the PIN4 resistor and lift it to disconnect it from the circuit. Check the TME_Readback status in setfsb. If TME is not disabled then run a lead from the bottom part of the resistor to a GND point and place some insulation tape below it so it cannot short out the rest of the circuit if pressed down. Technique would allow easy reversal if needed.

thanks for the suggestions, will definitely give it a go, my 40W soldering iron's got a huge tip though lol, hopefully i won't lift too many in one go.

will report back on how it goes, for now best to sleep..

    Thanks for the help!

    hi guys,

i got that ace aspire 8730G.
first i found information that my pll is one from realtek RTM875N-606 but after i open my laptop i found that ICS9LPRS365BKL ..
so i'm not a newby in oc but at the pinmod's ..

it's hard for me to understand what the guy did to overclock his notebook +500 Mhz ..

i also couldn't found a datasheet for that pll, maybe one of you can show some picture tutorials how to use the pinmod for that pll ..

sorry that but for me it's hard to understand everything in english cause it's not my first language..

maybe you guys can help me to speed up my notebook?!

    // edit:

so here is the picture of my pll: click here

my soldering iron's too big, was unable to lift the resistor or do anything useful on this tiny scale :( looks like project on hold till i find a good soldering iron with a nice tip!

accidentally cut my motherboard during the process too, repaired using conductive pen luckily...

    Datasheet here:
    Google

    (First link).

    Look at page 6.

    TME is pin 11.

Do you have TME enabled right now?
Can you upload a screenshot of setFSB with the diagnosis tab?

    No,RTM875N-606 datasheet hard to find.
    It's a square pll,compatible to ICS9LPRS355BKLF,ICS9LPRS365,SLG8SP513V.
So pin 11 is TME.Pin 24 and 25 are the two pins which Darth_nVader told would have to do the pin config with RTM875T-606,Pin 17&18 here

The original post has been updated with appendix 7, how to utilize schematics in order to lookup PLLs (with a couple of links).

@lmkong, I'm not sure what is causing that problem, but without the full datasheet it's hard to guess.

    THANKS moral hazard.
By the way,I can't find the update appendix 7,could you give me the URL,thanks.

And do you have a datasheet of ICS9LPRS365 or SLG8SP513V,it is the same as RTM875N-606.
Quanta TW8 has two types of pll,SLG8SP513V and RTM875N-606,either of them could be used.So they are the same.

Can see in your circuit diagram that you just need to disconnect the R204 resistor on the "2" end and re-route it to GND to disable TME mode. Then can try to use setfsb to overclock the system.

Relevant part of the circuit diagram is shown on the right.

I think he said that he has done the TME mod, but the notebook locks up when he tries to use setfsb.

Something that happened to me with that toshiba, I had to find the bit that was causing the problem, then I emailed abo and told him to make setfsb not change that bit.

I don't see pin 24 mentioned in that thread, can you quote it please?

Just looking at the datasheet, pin 24 and 25 are "Clock output for graphic contoller".

Not sure how they are useful.

    The thread told pin17&18,red color,but it's 64 TSSOP rtm875 t,mine is 64QFN RTM875 N and I found it in the datasheet of 9lprs365 which contains 64 TSSOP and 64-pin MLF.Pin 17&18 in 64 TSSOP is the same with pin 24&25 in 64QFN,they are both 27MHz_NonSS/SRCT1/SE1.
    Here,pin 24&25 is SRC1,default connect to 27M_NONSS.
Do I have to move the RP60 to RP49?Then the SRC1 will connect to DREFSSCLK
I don't know exactly what these functions are.

If you can't disable TME, you can try connecting pin 64 (FSLB) to GND.
That should take your FSB to 266mhz.

But you would probably have to cut the trace comming from pin 64.

so when i connecting pin 64 to GND and have the fsb set up to 266 i cant change it down right?

connecting from tme to gnd will not work?

    //edit:

do i need to connecting GND to TME that way ? click

Hi im new to this board ;D Good morning everyone!

Im very interested in oc of my notebook. So i read the first post and some in between and today i opened my notebook ^^ phew was hard XD

    So i found:
    SLG8SP510T datasheet : hereor here

I used SLG8S513V in setfsb(free) and got this:

First problem: The example is for some ICSxx, is it register9 bit2 for me also?

So i tried to change bit 2 at register 02 to 11101 000. It does not freeze but it after i click apply it shows the field empty, so i click in bit 2 again and it shows the 11101 100 again, so it automatically changed it back or setfsb does not work.

Its the same when i try to move the first bar to overclock, it changes back immediately to the default value.

So because its my first post, here all my questions, i hope i dont annoy you

So what does this mean for me?
-I was wondering why it has this 3/6 bar, where 3 is 200fsb and 4 is 266fsb, this means there are only big jumps or did i overlook the fine steps?
-Is there a chance to get software overclocking in setfsb via tme-unlock? I think its better than just fslx mod, isnt it?

    /EDIT
Now i got: Register 02 : 11101000 so somehow it changed the value after some tries. But if i try overclocking via the bar it resets to default (the fsb, the register 2 is still on 11101000 after)
So does this mean i got a chance to to tme unlock and get nice on the fly overclocking via setfsb?

Looks like only big jumps are possible.

You might want to try both.
First tme-unlock and check if the system is stable with a 266mhz FSB or 333mhz.

If it is stable, try the fslx mod to make startup slightly faster.

Yes it might work, even though the datasheet doesn't mention tme.

Okay... then i will go for pin 4 if tme is not mentioned in the datasheet??
    Or is it another one???
Lift the leg from the board and then connect it to GND. Whats the easies way to find a GND? Just testing on the board?

Somewhere i read that i should use a 10k resistor to gnd, whats that for? Just to find a GND at a resistor or should i really solder a 10k resistor between GND and the liftet pin?

You can go for the first post. At the beginning there are some post of succesfull mods and some have pictures, just go for the tme ones..

    -----------------------
Hey i was reading some more about my SLG8SP510T.
Im not sure if Pin4 is the right one for tme-unlock.

also this board uses PM965 Chipset from Intel. its currently running at 200mhz and what i read it cant go to 266mhz...

So i see a bunch of problems:

    1. not sure if it is pin4 to tme-unlock
    2. only big steps in setfsb 200fsb ->266fsb
    3. does intel pm965 support 266 fsb?
    4. What about my ram? if its not working i have to flash?
    5. At this my cpu will run at 2,6Ghz (2ghz in stock) this could be the limit to higher voltage and i dont know how to do that if its needed

So what do you guys think? Are all these problems the normal thing to go with or is a bad combination of hardware to try this?

    3. yes. If you pin mod the PLL you can take the fsb as high as the PLL supports. The chipset doesn't matter at all.
This is why this mod is better than a BSEL mod.
    4. again yes, try using thaiphoon burner to lower the frequency of the ram and increase the timings.
    5. It's pretty easy to increase the cpu voltage with a CPU pin mod.
    Here are some examples:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...90696-bsel-mod-socket-p-explained-photos.html

Those problems are the same as most notebooks will have.

I got lucky with my tecra ;)

here is the screen from cpu-z: Imageshack - cpuzv.jpg

so my problem now is that i cant change the multiplier is locked on 6 from 10 ..
what can i do to fix that???

That would be expected if you have an intel chipset.
You will notice that EIST is disabled and you can't enable it so you can't change the multi.

That is why a PLL pinmod is better than a CPU pinmod.

now i undo the bsel mod and trying again the pll mod from connection pin GND to 11 tme ..
whats the best way to connect that wire ??? it's so hard cause the pll is so small with the pins

I haven't seen any overclocking results for that notebook, taking the FSB from 533mhz to 800mhz will be a bit hard. You would need some really good ram.

You will need a really small tip on your soldering iron. It would be good if there was a resistor connected to the pin so you wouldn't have to deal with the pin.

hi moral_hazard, i've disconnected the pin, however it won't boot! does it mean my PCI2 is needed?

I have the PLL ICS9LPRS365BGLF, how do I connect it to ground? can I connect it to another pin that's marked as GNDREF? Or just tape it to metallic part of the chasis to ground?

my multimeter's tip is too big for testing my laptop...

My toshiba tecra A9 wouldn't boot with the TME pin disconnected. I had to connect it to GND, then it was fine.

I would connect it to the chassis.

    I have a compaq cq40 SLG8SP626V an amd 780g chipset,
The use of SetFSB using the chip was not possible to change input
the clock, talk to someone SetFSB support, he says
do not know the reason why no changes. now I see this post and
certainly HP (Hewlett-Packard) to block the pll (I
    though she does through bios)
Now my question, do pinMode also unlocks the
hd3200 ati clock of which is also being blocked by HP.
I tried AMD GPU Clock Tool. changed the clock but there is no
    change in performance in 3dmark,
Someone can point me to cut to the pinMode pin in a
    SLG8SP626v

great news from my side here,

just did the tme pin mod and it works!
i can change right now the fsb and it takes effect :)
right now i'm testing how far i can go, when i'm done i'll update that post here.

thanks for your big help moral hazard!!!!

    update1:

so the first problem, i can't go for more then 4 mhz.. normal 200 fsb.. 204 shutdown.
emailed abo to put the ICS9LPRS365BKL into setfsb, maybe this will fix the problem.

    update2:

ok i don't know why but now i can go for more..
just get 235.05 fsb .. here the cpu-z validator capture: click

    update3:

so this is my biggest jump on the cpu click
the cpu get unstable and i get a bluescreen.. the temperatures are still good, normale mode: 46-50 .. stress mode: max 60
so i think i can go for more but i need to use the spdtool??
my ram timing right now are: 5-5-5-15-20
do i need to set up the timings more up or what i need to do?

read here in the thread somewhere, that people had the same problems with the crash because of the smbus?? can it be my problem too?

i also send abo a mail and he's working on the pll for my laptop (hope so) .. maybe with the right one i can go for more speed...

Try using thaiphoon burner (you should look for an older trial version that lets you use all of the functions) to change the CAS to 6. Then use memset to change the rest of the timings. 6-6-6-18 would be a good start.

    Don't know about the SMbus.

CPUz and setfsb are right, RMclock and ORTHOS are wrong.

You should look for the PLL:

    @moral hazard

so i get memset and put the timings in successfully..
tryed the thaiphoon burner version 6.3 but just get an error "could not install system driver" ..
was looking on google for the 6.5 version but without success..
with the spdtool it will not work?

SPDtool is ok, but it has a better chance of giving you a bad SPD.

It's best to use thaiphoon burner, but if you can't get it working then you could try SPDtool.

i tryed to use spdtool but when i change something and start writing i get an error message that the checksum is not valid. what it means? and how i can clear this problem?
thaiphoon burner.. i need to buy a license to work with that.. bad
and last but not least, memset can't save any configuration just get "can't write memset/memset.ini" ..

    where are the problems?
is it possible to change the jedec settings? or to add one more? my ram support 200, 266, 333 mhz .. but i need also 400..

With spdtool there is a drop down menu that will fix the checksum.

You need an older free trial version of thaiphoon burner, that gives you a few days to work with the full functions.

    I don't know about memset.
