If your bios has same ucode as the VMWARE cpu ucode patcher then you don't the patcher anymore.

Forgive my laziness / stupidity this morning, but I just wanted to double check with you guys if microcode version 84h is the most updated and proper version I should have listed for my BGA i7 7700HQ? I am running the most recent Dell BIOS update. Am I fully patched for Spectre / Meltdown / HT Bug?

The most updated one I found was 84 for Kaby Lake H/S/X/G 7th Generation Intel® Core™ Processor Family 906E9 2A Production --- --- 0x84

This version shows I am completely protected -
Since upgrading the microcode does anyone notice a increase in temp on the CPU? Seems to me that my usually programs are running however the CPU seems to run hotter now ..... My fans are running more and check my temps with HWinfo it says the temps are hotter than I remember then being before...
-
Check it properly. Not always you can remember correct. Use InSpectre tool [As recommended by Intel to observe your status + able to disable Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability patches].
-
I disabled the meltdown and spectre and restarted and still see the same higher temps... so this must not be the problem... I re-enabled and restarted. Same higher temps but true as you say.. maybe I just do not remember correctly... It had been a few months since I paid attention.. Im playing one game that is not too taxing on any computer and the temp seems high... I put it on my laptop cooler now too.. its averaging 60C.. even goes to 78C ... cools down tho quickly. But if I turn on these VERY LOUD fans on max from the Control Center, of course the temp goes to 40C while gaming... but seriously lol who wants to game with Jet Fans running in background lol

Write down a note. Ambient + max temp with fixed clocks in FS and Cinebench. Then you can check it vs. what you get later

I live in the Northwest, it is averaging 50F outside here... still spring time, good thought! I am still using my heater tho loljclausius likes this.

LOL! In the midwest... This last week has been 85-92F during the day. This is up from a below average April where temps seemed to be in the 34-42F range.

EDIT: I uninstalled the microcode and went back to old one, I am wondering if the 7700k is not ready yet for a micro code cus its not listed here....
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...or-windows-10-version-1803-and-windows-server
(unless I need glasses lol) I am on win 10 1803 but no new updates on this one to my computer... I checked via WU and that is working cus it gave me a nvidia update.
Now the CPU is running smoother (not the way I want) and but not over extending itself ... I also dusted it too inside.. but did not see any dust. The trial and error of troubleshooting lolhmscott likes this. -

When go to download the standalone, it says it is not applicable to my computer... so maybe not yet

Did you choose the right file to download, there's one for x86 and x64 versions of Windows, you probably need the x64 version (there's also a version there for Windows Server)? -
Yes i got the right one
I am thinking that since I am still on 1803 build 17133.1 maybe it does not like this build.... I also asked Sager, they said they need to test it before emailing it to me... I will try it again or move to 17134....
