I didn't realize IDA invoked an extra voltage, too. That makes more sense now.

IIRC if IDA is enabled it should be possible to lock the lower multi's at the IDA VID as long as you have control over the EIST bit. I can only think it would be useful to do that if you want to increase FSB and RAM clock at the CPU frequency you want to run at. IMO though usually lower BCLK and high multi works best.

I don't think my computer could modify EIST iirc. Throttlestop's option for that was greyed out and the BIOS doesn't support anything.

Maybe the OP will have better luck though!

You could do a bios mod that would let throttlestop change the EIST bit.

There should be a link somewhere in the dual IDA thread.

My CPU doesn't have IDA so it'd be moot. But I didn't know you could mod the BIOS for that, either.

Its very useful for q9000 users since they can jump a whole multiplier and when you are only at 2ghz anyway...

It is grayed out for me as well, and I do not have option in BIOS so I do not think I'm more lucky then you.
This can be usefull for me in more ways, you can take a look at this therad (also created by me)

But for sure, at the moment any way to incrase voltage is the most important.

    I'll check that out, thanks!
