hi Frnds,
i installed amd catalyst 13.8 beta driver. but there will be no frame pracing option. i checket game settings also. i cant find it. my GPU is dual graphics 7660g+7670m.. Any idea -
It is because AMD did not kept their promise, APU + discrete graphics in CrossfireX stays unusable. 13.8 beta only helps for two identical discrete graphics.

Hey all,
does anyone know if this upgrade to a Richland A10-5750m would be possible with a Samsung 355v5c laptop with an A8-4500m? Or if anyone knows how I could go about finding out?
I have been having a little trouble finding out if my BIOS will be able to support Richland APUs and can't seem to find any references to anyone who has attempted this upgrade with my laptop.
Many thanks in advance,
Watto -

Thanks, i'll get myself a 5750m and post back to let you guys know how it goes.

Hi all,
I used a Notebook like Watto.
Samsung 355V5C with original A8-4600M now I already upgraded it with a A10-5750M but there are some big problems.
My A10 will not work with full speed. The Samsung software for the turbofunction is not able to get over 2500 MHz.
And the Win8 index shows less CPU power than the old A8-4600...
I think there´re some software or driver issues...
Any ideas for me?
Thanks Ede -

CCC looks absolutely normal for a non ES APU and it runs only 900MHz because your system running from battery. Plug it in and select balanced power plan. -
Ok, I plugged in and change the power plan to high performance, but nothing happend.
The CCC CPU powerplan stops at 2500 MHz... But the CPU is a turbo 3200 MHz... So I think the CCC maybe slows the CPU down?
Additional, the Windows speedindex (don´t know how to tell it in english) decrease from 4,6 to 3,5 with the new APU...
-
Well, I had very similar isssue with an Samsung AMD Ultrathin, there the CPU cores were locked at 400MHz. To solve the problem, I uninstalled all the AMD software; CCC, drivers, chipset drivers and every other programs that I thought could interfere (for example FusionTweaker).
After uninstall, install the latest Mobility Catalyst and Chipset driver.
If it ain't help, you will probably have to do a clean Windows installation... -
Hi Atom Ant,
I will thank you for your invested time to solve my problem.
I decided to make a fresh Win8 installation. After a new problem with CCC (Win8 want a signed driver, the 13.8 beta seems not to be signed) it will work!
Maybe there is still a problem with the crossfire and I didn´t figure it out how to fix it.
Thank you
Ede
[EDIT]
I will try the drivers you linked. At the german website only the 13.8 beta is shown... -
Hey guys, finally got my new APU a couple of days ago. Installation went well and despite having similar problems to Edewolf with it not running at full speed and also running dangerously hot I immediately noticed a difference in games. After uninstalling all AMD software and drivers and re-installing the difference is very noticeable and these issues have vanished. Thank you for your detailed review Atom Ant, this thread made the decision to purchase much easier with all the useful benchmarks and helpful discussion. I think my next investment will be a nice SSD when prices come down a little more to complete the package. ^_______^
Many thanks to all who contribute here,
Watto. -
Good to see it is working out for you guys! Edewolf than you should also manage it, you have the same laptop as Watto do.
-
Hi Atom Ant, Love your posts!
I have been reading this post for a while now but nobody seems to be having the same problem I have with my APU upgrade. I have the samsung NP355V5C which came with the A10-4600M, this I swapped out with a A10-5750M. All was good at clean boot of Windows 7 Pro but on installing the CCC and 13.8 beta drivers I get graphical errors (small green and black gltches) on my task bar and any window border. Since then I have put my A10-4600M back in because it wasn't usable. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated!
"EDIT" - Forgot to say I have the latest firmware/bios installed! -
Hi, do you see those glitches also when you enter into the laptop's system bios? If so, than your APU is faulty! If you do not see them, than try different drivers to use, for example the most recent 13.10. You could also try Windows 8 or change system memory for different modules.
-
There are no graphic glitches at all in the bios or when installing windows 7 pro, but as soon as I install the ccc and 13.8 beta driver they appear! I have tried the 13.4 also with same effect. Not tried the 13.10 yet but will do once I open my laptop up and bob it in again; I will let you know how I get on, thanks!

Ok, this is what I have done so far... Uninstalled all ati drivers and ccc - Installed A10-5750M - checked Bios and all was good - APU recognized and temps ok - Installed all ATi software/drivers/ccc (13.10 beta) and I have same problem as before! But I think I am nearer to solving this as I believe it's something to do with either Crossfire or DirectX (maybe both!). The reason I say this is because if I run an openGL/CL benchmark such as FurMark or Heaven Benchmark 4.0, they work really well graphically. But this is using just the HD 8650g on the APU with crossfire off. If I turn on crossfire I get glitches in Heaven Benchmark 4.0 but not in FurMark?? Also noted; when hardware acceleration is turned off in internet explorer the green and black glitches disappear around the borders; with crossfire on or off. I think I might install Windows 8 Pro and see how that goes.
EDIT:
1st.Fresh install of Windows 8 Pro and no change, still artifacts when in crossfire, crossfire off and benchmarks/ no artifacts!
2nd.Fresh install of Windows 7 Pro still no change, same as above!
3rd.Ordered some Corsair Vengeance Ram 8Gb (2x4Gb) running at 1866Mhz once installed I will see if my laptop will work any better in crossfire, because in crossfire I get glitches and artifacts! I think maybe the memory is an issue; not sure but I will report back! -
Ok, I have installed Corsair Vengeance Ram 8Gb (2x4Gb) running at 1866Mhz and this has made no difference to the artifacts when running in crossfire. But if I run benchmarks and play games using just the APU everything is fine, so I am going to wait for a more stable and better driver to be released from AMD. Thanks for all your help Atom Ant!

Hi guys, I have a DV6z-7000 CTO, I tried replacing my A6-4400m that also runs with a dedicated GPU, 7730m with the A10-5750m. After installing it the screen is black and the caps lock is blinking and it boots up automatically after I plug in the power. BIOS F13. I might be overlooking something and I was wondering if someone can help me out here. Thanks I would really appreciate it!!

Yeah I got the F22 version, but I don't know how to flash/install it when the system is in that blank state.
Thanks! -
The file came in a .exe format and inside the contents are:
0182D.BIN
flsHook.exe
flshookdll.dll
FWUpdlcl.exe
insydeflash.exe
iscflash.dll
icsflash.sys
iscflashx64.sys
platform.ini
xerces-c_2_7.dll -
I just want to confirm: HP probook 6475b with the latest BIOS does work flawlessly with the A10-5750m processor, yayyy!
Just one thing: I have 2 corsair vengeance 1866 sticks installed, but they run with 1600 MHz only. The HP BIOS is very frugal, I can't set ram speeds there. Does someone know how I can convince them to run at full throttle?
Thanks for any help! -
-
You may need to put your old APU back in to flash the BIOS! Then once you've done that; install the A10-5750M :
edit: Just as deschoe say's! -
I just put it back and the same issue still happened. I'm not too sure what went wrong! Maybe the motherboard went back?
-
Some guesses:
-broken pin?
-forgot to lock the socket?
-battery empty? (Duh.....)
Good luck! -
Hello, all! Been having a few problems with my computer, and it seemed relevant to this discussion, so I made an account just to post this.
Atom Ant's review of the A10-4600m a while back was a highly influential factor in my decision to buy my HP Pavilion m6-1035dx. At first, it ran very quietly; I was amazed by it. I don't do much gaming, but I do enjoy Civilization V and Need for Speed: Shift, both of which the computer was able to comfortably handle. Then it started shutting down every now and then, spitting out a thermal shutdown notice on boot. In the past few weeks, it would shut down as many as five times in a single session while running Shift, and by even just browsing the web, I could hear the fan screaming. I've turned the computer off for a while now, in hopes to avoid damaging the hardware, until the problem is properly fixed.
I've never opened up a laptop before (except to install RAM, which is a fairly straightforward process anyway), but after digging around, it seems like using canned air on the vents and fans is a good idea. I've also read that the thermal grease that HP uses on these units is pretty junky, and should be upgraded. I think I'd be able to figure out how to apply this myself, with the plethora of walkthroughs available, at least if it's worthwhile. Should I reapply the thermal grease (and if so, which kind? Arctic Silver 5 seems quite reputable, and IC Diamond is mentioned quite a bit in this thread; other threads say there's no difference between the two), or is it a better idea to pay a computer repair expert to do this, or even skip the process entirely? Even more importantly, would it be a better investment just to upgrade to the A10-5750M? The difference in specs doesn't look like a $200 improvement to me, but maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.
So, essentially, would cleaning my fans and upgrading my thermal grease be sufficient measures to reduce the temperatures (possibly adding a cooling pad to my accessory collection as well), and if so, would it be a better idea to pay the extra costs to have an expert do it? Or would it be a better idea to invest in an A10-5750M, which seems to better manage its resources?
Any help would be appreciated; many thanks!

tilleroftheearth Wisdom listens quietly...
I recommend a can of compressed air (don't shake it!!! and always hold it upright; turn the computer instead of the can to reach all/different areas you want to blow out).
I also recommend a notebook cooler (with any notebook that is used at full tilt daily).
What I highly recommend is a notebook that has a proper cooling system design (HP doesn't know their head from their *** in this department - similar to Apple...).
Reapplying the TIM may give you some relief from the symptoms your notebook is showing. But you may see just as much improvement by simply taking it apart and fully blowing out any dust/debris that may be inside.
Good luck. -

Anyone..., could Artic Silver cause a short between two CPU pins?

Hello laptop junkies I have a question.
So I bought a MSI GX60 1AC Laptop a while back coupled with the A10-4600M APU and the dedicated 7970M GPU, and thought I got a steal until I actually started to play games on it. It seems that while the GPU is a beast the APU just can't hack it and bottlenecks my system. I've been waiting to see any more upgrades to that part of the Richland processor family, but it seems to cap out with the A10-5750.
So with that I have two questions.
1. Will the upgrade even work? I know laptops tend to be finicky, but the processors are almost twins other then one being able to churning out more prcessing speed.
2. If so is it even worth it? Should I just bite the bullet and choose a better balanced gaming rig next time, or will this upgrade be a significant boost for my laptop (on the CPU side of things).
Any help will be most thanked for! -
The regular A10-5750M is about stronger integrated graphics, recommended for laptops without discrete GPU. A laptop like MSI GX60 need A8-5550M ES or A10-5750M ES (overclockable) processor to achieve ideal gaming experiences.

thank you! -
Thank you for the quick reply!
So basically unless I can find overclocking versions of the processors you mentioned I should just invest in a more balanced laptop for future purchase huh?
What you're saying makes sense. Thanks I'll hold off.
Oh, but out of curiosity could you even make the switch? lol I'll appriciate this response too. -

For people with hp laptop that have caps lock blinking, do a hard power reset.
Remove ac, battery, cmos battery, press power button for 15+ sec(30+ to be sure)
Then pray it come back to life.
Another thing to try would be use a Usb drive to reflash bios if the reset dont work.
Hp bios is rsa signed (who know what that means except it is a PITA), and have a tendency to soft brick when people tinker different stuff.
On hp site they also have a page explaining different number of blinking means. -
I wish I could help on the RAM because I also bought some 1866MHz memory I had planned to use. Maybe there's some software overclocking solution that would work? Is AMD's Overdrive app still around? -
-
i updated the bios to F.45 before putting the new APU in. what version do you have installed?

It powers on, blinks 5 times, then the leds shut off and the fan runs at a high speed. I tried a crisis bios disk but it didn't matter. Just blinks, with any cpu.

Does anyone know if the A10-5750m will work with a DV6z-7000? The latest BIOS available for it is F.22.
