I was thinking of trying your idea of using the bulk white thermal paste. Any ideas what brand and where I would find this? I found too many different types to know which was the one you were suggesting

I used gelid solutions extreme performance GC-3 without any issues. Oh boy is my laptop chilling 32-35 degrees doing everyday surfing and normal non gaming stuff.

Hey mate, congrats. What happened with games? Did you overclock? I have still little problems with gta V. Fps drops while driving. Did you try with Gta V?

Right I had to reinstall everything but just got gta v installed without the overclock on my 7670 I'm getting min of like 22 odd times in the really built up area's I drop down to 16 for a split second but most of the time up at 30 but I'll post back more when I've got the gpu over clocked. I think its really just a driver issue though or game issue as the cpu is more than powerful enough and so is the the gpu tbh. I'm also going to test other games to see the improvement as I'm convinced it's just gta v that's being a donky for amd users

I am getting same fps too with gta V. I agree with you. It looks like game isssue. Because cpu or gpu usage isn't %100. I thought maybe if you overclocked 3 or more ghz and you don't have this problem. Maybe this is ram or hdd problem, i don't know. While driving, ram or hdd can't read so fast maybe.

What driver do you use? I installed 15.5, a little bit better now. Maybe with some old drivers or settings, we can get over this problem. I will try with other dx versions. But i don't have much hope :D

Well I can rule out the hdd question as I'm running a Intel ssd. My cpu is hitting 100% but its running at 2.4ghz gpu is only hitting 80% tops which is odd but can't tell where it's pulling the figures for the gpu in game from as I've got a 2gb 7670 not a 1gb so that's quite a concern that even in duel graphics it's only showing as 1.5gb vram. Not got round to overclocking yet but if it's not using the vram as it's ment to then that's going to be limiting the frames. Someone tell me if I'm wrong but turning off duel graphics means it's using the 7670 not the apu right? That's the way it always appeared to me anyways when running other games and benchmarks.

Yes, it's using 7670m, if you disabled crossfire and run the game with high performance mode. You can see gpu usage-vram usage with gpu-z. But i'm not sure it's using all vram. Mine has 1gb vram but i messed up drivers a little bit. I just install 15,5, but if i use crossfire on, game shows total 1024mb vram, last week with 15.4 driver it was showing 1500 with crossfire on. I don't know why. Tried with 15,4, still same and if crossfire on, opening title stutter. And now with 7670m, it's using 500-700 vram in game. And shows 512mb of course.

I will try with 3ghz, but it looks like a driver/game issue. And if your cpu usage is %100 and gpu %80, this looks bottleneck. My cpu usage is not %100 with 2,3ghz, it's showing 90~generally, sometimes %100 but fps drops happening with even %90. If you increase some game setting it will be %100 gpu usage, but this is not solution of course. Everyone says the game has good optimization but it's not i think, esp. for us.

for those of you updating this thread all input has been most helpful and nearing middle of 2015 ,,and amd rolling out the 6th gen apu's have decreased the price of the 5750ms to as low as $50 bucks. Now my laptop has the 4600m and im debating on wheter or not I upgrade it to the 57 or not what do you guys think?

Which laptop do you have? I had no luck. The 5750's slightly different architecture confused the MoBo. Best I can do is the 4600m. I have an asus K55N-DS81

my laptop is hps' g4 series the 2029wm just from reading the many posts on this thread it sounds like it could work and there was in fact a bios update for this mobo but if there is no noticeable improve in terms of perf ill just wait until it drops down to $30 bucks!

That really depends what your running under the hood of your laptop. If you have a ssd then yeah you will notice quite a bump up in speed but if you haven't got a ssd then invest the money in one and wait for the 5750m cus the ssd will give you the most noticeable results like night and day.

Your problem is the clock control on hardware level. There is no way to avoid it. But you can trick it. Use amdmsrtweaker to assign the same values to all Pstates. (example for syntax: AmdMsrTweaker.exe turbo=1 APM=1 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected])By doing it there will be the same frequency and voltage in all Pstates and there will be no matter in which Pstates your CPU is. Use WIn8 or 10 to avoid synch problems after overclocking. Win7 doesn't support properly mobile amd cpus.

Don't try this upgrade on an HP DV6Z-7200 - I was just left with a constant flashing CAPS LOCK with either the 4600M or 5750M (the same as Xcrew found with his DV6Z-7000).

I just bought a DV6Z-7000 mobo (the heatsink has an identical part # to the DV6Z-7200 + the 7730M discrete card should run a little cooler than a 7690M).

Hi all! I just joined this place to let everyone know my experience.
I wanted to upgrade my 6475b to the top apu, the A10 5750m from the A6 4400m. But after reading results from some of you i decided that the A10 was probably to much of a risk. But i did see some models on ebay equipped with the A8 5550m so i set out to buy one.
I found one for $18 bucks but after buying it i noticed the the listing said A8 and the images showed an A10... I contacted the seller, no response.
Few days later i had an A10 5750m sitting on my desk and i was sure it just wasn't gonna work.
I followed everyone's tips and work arounds but i could not get the A10 chip to work.
First, the normal swap. Result? No bios post.
Second, set bios to boot mode UEFI NATIVE. Result? Bios posted but "No bootable image found" error.
Tried to reinstall OS, nothing. Tried different bios options... Nada. I gave up for a day and i was googling just what the UEFI was.
I realized the its a new bios, not really a mode but a WHOLE new bios. One that uses HDD in GPT partition and not MBR partition like legacy bios.
At that moment, a massive nuclear powered lightbulb turned on and i went about installing a bootable usb drive with windows 8.1 in it (w8 has native support for uefi).
And just like that! I installed the OS and booted up with the beautiful A10 5750m. I honestly felt like crying after 4 days of trial, error and failure. So there you go! Not a mobo/apu issue but rather a bios/OS problem.

Awesome post! I'm using a 6475b motherboard as one of my computers and in the past when I tried upgrading my 6475b laptop to A10-5750M I never did get it to work. You just renewed my hopes.

I recently tried buying an A10-5750M ES from aliexpress for $30 but the seller mistakenly listed it when there wasn't any stock. I was pissed, thought I'd found a unicorn and figured I'd risk it again since I read the BIOS needed to be set to legacy.

You posted this as the perfect time, now I just have to keep hunting for the APU!

You should be able to do so, the BIOS may be an issue but someone here should be able to get you a solution to that.

GANG I need help. Do any of you know how to build a bootable flash drive to recover from corrupt bios on one of these AMD motherboard systems? I have a HP G4-1117dx that seems to have somehow corrupted bios - no display but seems to POST up to a point then nothing. Tried the HP WindowsKey+B and +V BIOS copy recovery processes but no dice. I suspect that is the path for Intel-based systems. They have a way to build a recovery Stick for the Intel-based systems but so far have not found for AMD. Any clues would be appreciated

Guys, help me in some thing, I bought an A8 5550m ES from Aliexpress, but seller send me an a10 4600m ES. I install it in my hp probook 6475b and boots fine, but when I install gpu driver(15.7.1 driver) all system crash. ES apus have an special driver or my apu is damaged? I will open an dispute with seller to receive my money back.

Try to reinstall the windows, try a different version driver and if still crash, than trash. However if he sent 4600m instead 5550m, that is also a reason to send it back.

Just Upgraded my laptop to the A10-5750M (non-es)
My laptop is the Samsung NP355V5C-01IL. Initially it came with an A6-4400M which was upgraded to an A10-4600M ES, which then was replaced by a normal A10-4600M. now iv'e upgraded it to the A10-5750M for 45$, and the first thing i noticed that it was HOT. my poor laptop couldn't handle the heat. so, like i did with the A10-4600M, i undervolted it using AMD Overdrive, and then AmdMsrTweaker to make it permenent. now runing at [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] volts, and the laptop runs cool :D great chip! (can also lock the frequency at 3.2Ghz)
see the full specs of the laptop here (also upgraded the TN LCD to an IPS LCD):
    Samsung NP355V5C-S01IL
    AMD A10-5750M @ 3.2Ghz (upgraded)
    LG 15.6 LP156WHA-SLL1 IPS (upgraded)
    PATRIOT 1600MHz CL9 16GB (upgraded)
WD Black² Dual Drive 120GB+1TB (upgraded)
    AMD HD 8650G + HD 7670 1GB (upgraded)
    AR5B22 AR9462 WiFi + Bluetooth (upgraded)
    Samsung DVD Super Multi

i think im done for now.

hey yo ppl. much thanks for shering your expiraiance ... its not so easy to find solutions for
    AMD APUs.. anyway

I had a problem with A10-5750m droping to 800mhz while gaming... your posts directed me for solving my own case..
    here is what i did:
I used AmDmsrTweake.. Disabled Turbo core for more stability and lower temp. Lock rest of "P" (i guess its stands for power states) at 21x 0.9625V.. I guess its important that the lowest PowerStae, in my case P7 is not set on 8x... 8x its what making CPU work at 800mhz.. So i puted all on 21`x etc fire up a game and see instant FPS increase. But my laptop (lenovo g505s) shouted down after 10 mins of playing... so i figured out it have to be temperature auto shutdown, I took off the bottom hatch and put my laptop on two sohes boxes :D and putted small fan directly under CPU... Now the CPU its stabel on ~60* and i can finnaly play my game comfortable..

Still not sure if i my adapter puting enough Wats, and Still dont have proper driver for 5750m my device manager showing just 8650g.. i see two unrecognized devices, so i disabled it for seving fore wats...
Back when i bought it from some kido i had 5750m and 8650g working corectly but i have made drivers update at some point and never agine found that previus driver...

Will try to chenge termo pasta and maby buying 135 wats adapter ... i found few avible at my market just for ~`20$
If i will manage to lower the temperatures i will lock it on turbo core, leyts say 3ghz flat and see if i have enough power

For now im glad i can finnaly play my game at smooth FPS after few days battel with AMD confiusing stuff...
I think nex time i go intel/nvidia combo xD

    peace out
