Well what is it, say what your processor is and any over/underclocking you have done. This is just a reference for comparison.

Core Duo T2400
43-46C
No overclocking -
No clocking for me. It idles between 37-42°. On the higher side when plugged in.
-
it depends....when i have not been doing much, my pentium 4 (no oc) idles at 37ish degrees. however if i idle after playing a game or burning lots of cds or video encoding, it idles in around 45-55 until i shut it down.
-
anywhere from 30 to 40 ish depending on load. gpu stays around the same too.
-
How can I tell? The thermometer doesn't fit in its bottom....

Great program, finds temps of every notebook!
1.73 Ghz Sonoma around 48-50 degrees.

I don't mess with overclocking or underclocking.
D620, 2 Ghz, 100 GB 7200 RPM
T 52
HD 42
Do these temps reflect how hot or warm a laptop is perceived? I perceive it as very warm on my lap.
Inspiron 6000, 1.6 Ghz Sonoma, 60 GB 4200 RPM
44.5 C

Well Titanium those are good temps... Maybe your case isnt so good that it gives heat trough...

what numbers should I be looking at ? there is frequency, 4 temperatures, discharge rate and HDD! The 4 temperatures are at 45-50 degrees - no under/overclocking! but the computer is not really idling, im on the net, hearing music and watching pictures, dunno if it makes a difference.. later I'll check what the temperature is when I'm playing battlefield 2 because it gets pretty hot!
-
Turion ML-30 underclocked idle 45C max temp 58C. Underclock settings 4x 0.925 volts and 8X 1.125 volts. Can't recall idle temp before underclocking but I used to get 68C with load.
-
okay while i was playing BF2 i got numbers between 54 and 68 ! is that dangerously high?

Big-M, I think those are fine.
My temperatures - I have a Pacific Breeze cooling pad and have undervolted my CPU:
37* CPU
42-44* HDD
Without the pad:
46-48* CPU
48-53* HDD -
its funny that your HDD temperature is higher than your CPU temp.
?

AMD Athlon64 3200+ (DTR)
Idles around 32 - 40C. Currently after a cold boot(overight) it is idling around 29C. -
1.66 GHz Core Duo, idles at around 39 C

The CPU sits in the back where it is thicker, and runs cooler. Undervolting helps. -
51-56 with Ati x700. 56 turns fan on.
47-50 with GMA 900. Fan never goes on.
Cheers, -
I don't know how others feel about the temperature of the D620 on their lap. I don't like it, the DV1000, my wife's Latitude, our old Compaq, my wife's gateway, or the 6000 on my lap. They are too hot for me. -
My ASUS idles at about 48c. That is with the fan off, and undervolted to .950v.
My MSI idles at about 53c.
My Compaq idles at 50c. -
My Intel Core Duo T2500 idles at around 52-53C.
-
I have a system with a P4 in it. 1.6ghz. **** thing idles in the 40-50+ range (no higher than 54) but when pushed it can hit 70-74. Makes a good heater
-
Tough one on which to vote, mine a P-M 2.1Ghz Dothan idles at between 39-41.
-
wow.. I just played battlefield 2 for like an hour and when I got out of the game I just checked the mobilmeter and the highest temperature was 80 degrees !! it was like between 60 and 80 degrees.. gahh.. Then I lifted my laptop and felt it on the underside and it was so hot that I could barely keep my hand there
**** .. its gonna burnout soon
!!

Core Duo T2300
No overclock
i9kfanGUI manual fan contol
25C average
I can't even vote in the poll! -
pentium M 2.0GHz 40 degrees celcius
*no overclock -
somethin is wrong unless u live in freezing temperatures and have .1 volts goin to your cpu, 25c is really really low. -
mine's running at 28-32C right now

Metamorphical Good computer user
My CPU (1.6Ghz pentium m) is stock. No overclocking, no underclocking, and no undervolting.
Current idle tempurature is 35.5c.
HDD temperature 41.0c -
32-35 idle with cooler and 35-37 idle without. But I use the cooler 95% of the time the pc is on. Id like to control my fans better but I dont know of a program to do so. Oh and this is a 2.2ghz AMD turion (mt version not ml)
-
My laptop seems to idle in the 40C range.

You can't get below ambient temperature... There is definitely something wrong... 16C is not achieveable unless you live in the north pole.

mikhail_scosyrev Notebook Consultant
The actual temperature is between 41-43 C with light work (i.e. firefox on)
Here is the proofAttached Files:

Sticks right at 46 C when idling and goes to 55-60 C when gaming or watching a movie----2 MHz Core Duo T2500
-
-
Pentium M 2.13 Ghz @ 28-32 degrees C
No Overclocking
Arctic Silver 5 applied to CPU and Heatsink, cooling pad always used -
the e1705 would have 2 fans
-
If its reporting below your ambient temp then there is something wrong with your sensor or its reporting it lower than what it should be.
Using a cooling pad I'm sure pretty good temps are achieveable but thats additional cooling and it will not get below ambient. -
ok mine:
no overclock
Pentium M 740 (1.73 GHz) TEMP: 50~53 (Idle)
GeForce Go 6600 Temp: 50~65 (idle) (48~55 gamming) -
In my desktop AMD 3200+ 2ghz overclocked to 2.51ghz it idels at 32-34*C and on full load (prime95 torture) it hits 53*C.
-
-
Did you undervolt it? Whats with the 100C and the two other 24 and 27?
-
21C is about 69F. -
My Laptop: HP ZV6000
Idle: 20-23C (cold boot to regular idle)
Load: 45-50C -
I think 100c is the maximum possible before shutdown, and the other two are the temp for each core. -
S48GP:
CPU: 2GHz Dothan
Ideal temp: 55 Celsius
Run fan: 56
Full load: 75
3D Max rendering + OC graphic card: 83 --->
Undervolting:
Ideal temp: 53
Full load: 68
OverClocking to 2.4GHz:
Full load: 80
My notebook is good heater for me in winter.
And in summer is good oven for cooking.
I have opened keyboard and put a 120*120*2 DC 12V fan on heatsink with additional power.
Now on 3D max rendering the maximum cpu temp is 58.
And on ideal: 40
And undervolted: 35
What is your idle CPU temp?
