I must say I'm disappointed in the scores from these new laptops.

    My old (2.8 years old) & recently deceased Inspiron 8600 (2ghz Dolthan, 2gig 333mhz RAM, 60GB 7200RPM HDD & 128MB 9600 Pro Turbo)

    Scored:
    Base Score: 3.7
    Processor: 4.5
    Memory: 4.1
    Graphics: 3.8
    Gaming Graphics: 3.7
    Harddisk: 4.4

I would of thought that seeing now basically every new laptop has a processor twice that speed, Ram twice that speed & seeing as my graphics card was mainstream 3 or 4 generations ago the new systems should all be 5.9 all the way :s

I'll try get a screen shot of the scores but seeing as its the graphics card that is broken it might not work so well :s

    Zepto 6024W with T7300 CPU, X3100 GPU, 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD:

    Base Score: 3.4
    Processor: 4.9
    Memory: 4.8
    Graphics: 3.4
    Gaming Graphics: 3.5
    Hard Disk: 4.5

It's fine for my needs - I don't need or want fancy graphics. However, the graphics results should improve slightly when Intel release the final X3100 Vista driver which unlocks some additional hardware features.

Why don't you learn another language?
Not everybody has English as mother tongue you know (mine is Dutch for instance)

I also think your first comment was a bit over the top: it's not unreasonable to think you can get a Vista index without having Vista. You might want to know how much you would get if you were running Vista, to help you decide if you should get it or not.

Boy can I empathise with you; I'd have a 5.0 system if not for my x1400!; it brings the score to 3.6... Anyways, that's my old Inspiron 9400, and it matters not since my new 1720 is on it's way! (If Dell shipping ever decides to send it ;) )

It's nice. Things are smooth and fast, but I'm comparing it to my 2+ year old desk top. I ran Wprime and my scores were much slower than those of people with similar rigs. I may need to start learning and tweaking. :eek2:

Mine is blocked at 3.6 because of the GPU ( may be the drivers)

<grape8pe> what version of catalyst CC and the ATI drivers were you using to get 3.7/3.8 at stock speed from ur x1400?

My laptop's score is a 4.0 base, with the following subscores:
    Processor: 4.9
Memory: 4.8 (What is deez..."On-Die Meemoree Kontroller yoo spek ov?")
Graphics: 4.0 (yeah, I don't get it, either)
Gaming Graphics: 4.7 (with 163.44 driver, was 4.6)
    Primary Hard Drive: 4.6

How my "Aero Graphics" score is so much less than my "Gaming Graphics" score, I can only imagine. Hopefully it's just drivers.

On my desktop, I have a base of 5.0 until I get my new quad core at the end of the year (assuming AMD pulls through on their release dates).

    Processor: 5.0
Memory: 5.9 (Yes, the AMD on-die memory controller makes that big a difference.)
Graphics: 5.9 (Phew, my 8800GTS can handle Aero, I was worried)
    Gaming Graphics: 5.9
    Primary Hard Drive: 5.7

Specs on both machines in sig. Both are running 64-bit Vista - Business on my laptop and Ultimate on my desktop.

The on-die memory controller has no improvement over the memory controllers for desktop core 2 duo's as far as windows Vista Experiance score is concerned. My PC scores 5.9 in every cattegory with my ram running at 700mhz all the way upto 1100mhz. So i really don't think the 5.9 score is even close to the max of what current high end PCs are doing

My Toshiba X205 gets the following:

    Processor: 4.9
    Memory (RAM): 5.1
    Graphics: 5.9
    Gaming graphics: 5.7
    Primary hard disk: 5.5

Oh, I should note my X205 is not a stock config. I upgraded both harddrives to Hitachi 7K200 200GB drives, gutted the machine replaced all thermal grease with Arctic Silver 5. Running 163.44 drivers as well.

I've also got 4GB of RAM coming for it soon, too.

No, my RAM is stock. I ordered 4GB of RAM to upgrade with, but it's not arrived yet. Not sure why it's higher. Maybe it's a different batch/manufacturer of RAM? Dunno.

Also, there is no way to raise the CPU score short of upgrading the T7300 to a T7500 or T7700. While Intel did major price cuts on them both recently, it's really not that beneficial to make the upgrade. They don't offer a huge boost in performance.
