i also like Asus, Asus is the best mainboard maker for apple, HP, Samsung.....!!
-
zero votes for compal?
i've read quite good reviews on compals -
Asus!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
acer Ferrari by far the the coolest computer, no questions asked
-
Asus Lambo anybody?
-
I think that Alienware has some nice looking notebooks, but Apple and Toshiba get my votes
-
The ASUS V6 has to be one of the sexiest notebook ever. It's supersvelte design utilizing the brushed aluminum and magnesium enclosure in addition to the superslim profile is simply irresistable.
However, I vote for the Sony X505. Only if it weren't so expensive and slow... -
Asus from my experience.
-
I had to vote Fujitsu for the Q2010, but the Asus V6J is in the same group. I usually go for the more conservative, sturdy looks of an HP business line or Thinkpad, but I've got this thing for brushed metal.
LG? Alienware? Please, a cheap paint job will never be as beautiful as raw power of metal. The only thing better than brushed metal is a well finished wood. -
With their new Imprint Finish, it's HP for me all the way.
-
Fujitsu definitely
-
-
HP/Compaq's new lineup has given PC notebooks a major lift in style and can now somewhat compete with apple's macbooks for design appeal. However, I prefer less shiny notebooks than the laptops from these companies. Gateway is plain, but their utilitarian designs work perfectly fine for me.
-
Asus FTW!!!
-
And I agree, while the Dell XPS laptops are nice looking, they're waaaay to pricey. -
I voted for Apple, it was a close call between Apple, Asus and Sony. I think LG should of been up there, with it's newer models they really do have a chance.
-
dell's white bumpers have more votes than compal, that's sad.
-
LG takes my vote. Best looking notebook out there atm, IMO. They won the Australian red dot design award.
-
Asus W3J. Now that I've seen it, even I think MBPs aren't as nice as I used to think

the hp business line laptops are really nice too, very professional looking yet you can tell there's some major muscles underneath...
-
altough i love the looks of my w3j... overall i like the product line off apple the best
-
Averatec has very nice, pleasent looking notebooks....

Is the Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook Q2010 really the world's "most desirable laptop," as the company would have us believe? (What, did you think we were talking about that other announcement?) Well, mmeier got to try out the svelte, sleek notebook at the Fujitsu Siemens press conference (and snapped some great pics, as well), and came away impressed with its "crazy and awesome design and build quality," which includes a magnesium case painted with jet-black piano lacquer. Connectivity was smooth, thanks to the unit's HSDPA support, and the Q2010 proved to be incredibly thin and lightweight. Big downside? Well, in addition to the price (about $5,000), there's the matter of battery life. While Fujitsu is reporting it as eight hours, the included battery will only give you two. For the full eight, you'll need a larger battery that sort of defeats the purpose of an ultralight fashion laptop like this. Of course, if you can afford this, you can probably just buy a couple of extra two-hour batteries and have your minions carry them around for you.
-
my vote was for Asus since they make some nice ones including the thin v6j, but when is there going to be a newer core 2 duo version of it? the v6v is the previous version. they are the first and only i know of 15" thin laptops.
I'm actually in the market for a new laptop and looks are important. I like the Asus v6j but i'm having trouble justifying the price of it when i can customize a
Dell inpiron 6400 to my exact liking giving it better features/specs/power for less money then the Asus.
I do agree the HP's look better and good now but its still lame HP, i dunno. better looking then Dell though, are the HP equally customizable , might go that route.
dont like LG
that new Fujitsu one someone posted link with pictures of is too spensive, dont like apple os and dont like sony too much
what are my choices for best looking but also good price and specs/features laptop?
will prob eventually go with the asus v6j but seeing what else and comparing for now. -
yeah that one is kinda cool, comes in diff colors and i've seen matching leather mice to go with it.
the little white Asus is cool like an apple and of course again the thin v6j and w3j -
Some Sony VAIO's look really cool and light and slim...
I really like them sometimes... -
I'd definetely have to say Sony.
I must admit, I was surprised when I saw Asus had received the most votes... -
No Gateway on the list?
-
Acer TravelMate TM8204WLMi has pretty decent looks. not sure if it will look as good or be as thin as an Asus V6j but at this price
http://www.eqitech.com/product_details.php?item_id=42&category_id=92
$1350
for what used to be a $2500 laptop and the specs it has that would be pretty sick.
only thing i'm not sure i totally trust that merchant as they seemed to be based in the Uk and carry a small # of products. Could be they just try to carry a small # of products for the best price possible so if you are looking for that item and lucky enough they have it then its great.
otherwise the lowest price on price grabber and second lowest on nextag for this model has it for $1875 which is also pretty great for what you get.
again, lookwise its supposed to be decent, has a carbon fibre chassis and seemed pretty good to me in a video of it from laptop logic.
dont think i will get it though because the screen though wsxga seems to be pretty dim according to reviews and has a fat32 file system with hd split into 2 equal partitions which pissed ppl off.
no perfect choice out there it seems and i'm still deciding but probably will still end up with a v6j, either base or upgraded. -
Oh man, now a poll about good LOOKing notebooks WITH Asus as a choice but not Alienware or Voodoo. If you're into cool looking (but not necessarily good value or dependability) notebooks, Alienware and Voodoo are second to none. In fact, when you buy one of those notebooks the cost of the custom paint jobs and tatoo-like decor and high-techy casings are included in the price. Just try comparing a Voodoo Envy or Alienware Aurora side by side with any mainstream notebook brand.
-
I admit Voodoo look amazing and should def be on the list but they are completely custom and you choose color and all that so its kind of not fair maybe and why they aren't on the list because it was for which manufacturers make the best looking retail laptops without offering customized cases.
Alienware on the other hand many ppl think are actually ugly and plus they are just made by Dell.
speaking of Dell, ppl made fun of the white sides or bumpers as some called them. I was looking at one in person and actually like the glossy ipod white sides mixed with the light silver.
But i couldnt bring myself to get a Dell as my main laptop, maybe as a second laptop or for my wife cus she like many non enthusiast users just want the safe customizable pick that they can all their choices with like software and that safe feeling from orderin from Dell and seeing all their mailings and commercials etc.
HP is the same but at least some of those look good with the imprint finish.
But Dell is just the laptop that the common man gets and then is all proud that they got it for $600 figuring its all the same not caring they picked cheapest parts but its a crappy Dell and they got it cheap so they happy or you have ppl like my wife that get fooled by all Dells options and end up customizing one to be just as expensive as a better Asus anyway after all that so Dell wins out either way and i just have to boycott them.
Anyway my pick for best looking is still Asus, especially since they make the #2 and #3 voted best looking notebooks in Sony and Apple. -
If this was just generally acroos their range who produce the best looking notebooks sony and apple are head and shoulders abover the rest.
I dont know why asus is soo high. The a6 series and a like arnt that good looking. Though asus do produce some beauties such as the w2 series. -
yes for across the range that does make sense. and the wierd thing about topic is that it says best looking notebook not notebooks plural, so to pick one is tough and many ppl listed specific models.
as far as across range though, I agree Asus makes some more normal plain business models but never anything ugly. And i guess its just Apple and Sony are so mainstream and eveyone knows them so its important to mention Asus especially since Asus is the one who actually makes the Apple and Sony designs.
so to me this is fair and accurate that they win the poll. -
Well for a singular notebook the w2 chassis is just amazing. I love the media buttons on the side.
But the topic is the brand not the manufacturer. The only properly ugly notebooks are alienware laptops. Most notebooks just look boring-like the cheaper asus models etc- which is fine by me. -
-
Well, I voted Sony but my little m1210 isn't far behind... At least when it comes to what's under the hood it smokes the vaio!

i'm liking the new sonys that come in diff colors even the apple ipod white versoin. i especially like the sony vaios with white keyboard and black screen/top. i think lg did the same thing
starting to wonder if i shouldn't have gotten a sony instead of asus considering believe it or not you can actually get some equally or better speced sony cheaper then the same asus, crazy.
at leat the regular mainstream ppl will respect a sony vaio where as an asus they think is a no name brand or confuse it with acer.
for the 17 wuxga model i get next i will be deciding between the asus w2p and a sony model, except w2p has hddvd which is better right now and sony has blu ray which youd otn have to get but if you do it does make it way way more expensive, more hten the asus in that case.
prob shouldn't hvae gotten 15.4" wide sony (white keys black screen) with core 2 duo. as you can customize one now and it will come a few days after the release on 10/15 or so. and then got asus w2p with hddvd but might be reverse
sony really had nothing to compete exalty with teh v6j -
Asus W3j!!!!

Im actually kinda thinkin my new Compal HGL-30 is sexy.

moon angel Notebook Virtuoso NBR Reviewer
I think my Toshiba i dead sexy! Otherwise I also like Acer a lot and Asus are quite good.
I think Dells and Lenovos are pig ugly and controvertially I think macbooks look good in the same way that an Audi TT looks good, i.e. if you're a yuppie. Personally i think they're foul. -
the Toshibas are ok looking. but i'm not crazy about the dark blue lids and other attributes. they are a little on the thick heavy side too.
as far as models in chain stors like best buy, circuit city etc. The Sony and HP look best
I like the FE series (i think it is) a lot especially the 15.4" model with the light silverish white keyboard and bottom and the black screen two tone effect.
the HP's with glossy black imprint finish are nice and silver imprint inside.
in general wide glossy screens help add to the looks
but even sony feels cheap and plasticky compared to the Asus
in comparing one of the sleeker Asus models in the v6j, the looks are a little more understated and business like then say the sony or hp with flashier looks but overall the build quality is just beter less cheap feeling and still is a super hot thin light look in just a more subtle less fake flash way.
not sure what you mean by yuppie but i kind of like the looks of Apple stuff. i mean glossy ipod white gadgets is getting played but was hot for awhile, I have an Apple cinema display monitor for my desktop pc, the older clear and white one as i thought it was best looking monitor at the time and diff.
apple laptops seem to have decent looks maybe by yuppieish you mean like artsy as macs and apple laptops usually are more for compared to the darker and silver looks of windows laptops but yea i still like the looks of the apple macbooks etc.
again though as has been stated several times Asus makes the designs for Sony and apple so any votes for those 2 is to Asus credit -
hp dv series for sure ive seen alot of them out there but for me personally they look the best to me anyway

HPs are really nice looking...Gateways are too.
-
gateways aren't
-
Apples and Sonys are nice.
Altho LG isnt up there, the S1 holds its own against all of them -
The new HPs are looking pretty slick. Saw them in Staples yesterday. But I still love the way my Vaio looks.
-
Darker laptops are definitely sexier than gray or whitish ones..
LG S1 is awfully good looking, but it still isnt there yet. I think everything but the keyboard and touchpad should be black -
brand with best looking notebook
