Finally someone that knows REAL class, ha! That all black design with colored keys and a red ball...beautiful! Lets not forget that "toughness" and durability can be a sexy quality too!![]()

Asus the winner so far of this pole has very professional looking laptops but also sleek and nice looking but without too much flash like sony apple even hp. V6J model exemplifies this thin light understated professional look while looking very modern and nice.
personally I think ibm are the ugliest and those very aspects you described are very dated looking (especially that red ball) and far from beautiful but this whole thing is just opinion. you may wear an old eighties sweater and think its awesome when others think its out of style and ugly.
also I don't think the ibm are that tough compared to any other manufacturer. in fact if you talking about build quality asus is know to win this hands down.
otherwise the panasonic toughbooks are prob the most durable or able to take more abuse not ibm really. -
It's not listed, but Best Buy once sold a laptop line called VPR matrix. It was designed by Porsche.

i voted sony cos most of their laptops are really good looking
especially the s series which is now discontinued.....the sz isnt as good looking as the s in my opinion
apple makes some good looking notebooks too but i feel they arent as sharp as the sonys.
alienware laptops are really radical looking
some of the ferraris are good especially the ones with carbon fibre.
im not just saying this cos i have one but the dv6000,dv2000 nd dv9000 notebooks from HP are really good looking.....if only some better material were used -
a lot of ppl that post on this are going by what they have seen in local chain stores. many haven't even seen an Asus in person so they can't compare and you really have to feel the build quality solidness of Asus which makes all other laptops look and feel like kids cheap platic toys
thing is with good looks, is while asus uses carbon fibre and metal casings etc. now all the big chain store brands are going for fancy shiny looks with cheap shiny black plastic and imprint finish and compaq (i guess cus its with hp now) even has flash looking laptops
everybrand is just going for cheap flash with shiny plasticky materials with a design on it and whatever else.
even sony vaios are very cheap and plasticky looking feeling.
so just looks from afar with who can use the shiniesy cheapest plastic that looks fancy from far away is one thing compared to looking nice and having the build quality and using solid good materials. -

These HP notebooks lately are so beautifully designed. Just got to clean the fingerprints :\
-
Write-In: Samsung. Honestly, anyone who has ever held a Q30 and doesn't think its the most beautiful notebook ever is a moron.
-
I've noticed the HP / Compaq section has gone up drastically since the release of their new notebooks. I have a feeling that HP is going to pass up Dell for the most popular notebook retailer.
Finally.

Its true, I am stuck between the HP and Dell. The HP looks so much better, but the Dell is about $100 cheaper.
-
-
the hp dv6000 or really 2000 or 9000 looks the best to me
-
best compared to what? what your seeing it next to in local chain store?
so that isnt' including Asus or a few other brands. -
compaired to everything i seen in the stores and the net.

Its Asus, and those of you that didn't vote for Asus need to spend some free time looking at Asus notebooks.
-
-
Quatre, obviously we're talking about personal preferences which are subjective in nature (i.e. brand with best looking notebook), so if you're maried to Asus and blind to anything else that's really your problem and it's not connected to this poll at all. Otherwise, when you desperately need Asus to be the clear winner you can make another dump poll with only one option to select. And probably you can find a better way to advertize Asus notebooks.
-
I don't desperately need Asus to win, they already are the clear winner according to the poll. Its spelled advertise btw and I'm not affiliated or looking to do that for them though they could prob use a little help seeing how many ppl aren't familiar with since they don't do much advertising of their own. Thats the whole point though too, they survive on word of mouth mostly and why on a thread like this it is neccesary to be a little more adamant when making the point so that ppl actually check Asus out instead of just voting based on what they see in chain store.
Also, its kind of funny that you say this and single me out when the 2 posts above you are basically saying the same thing as me. nice work. -
Anyway, I thought that Asus is a commercial brand and I know that some people live in strange places but where I live there are Asus notebooks in stores.
Most people haven't seen many brands (not only Asus) but that's just normal and that they vote without being familiar with all brand is something which makes all polls in this forum pointless and biased but also something that cannot be changed.
By the way, check for "advertize" in the dictionary.
Actually, it's kinda funny that you don't remember how many posts you've made repeating the same thing, especially when you don't desperately need Asus to win. Heh, what exactly Asus wins here, that's even funnier. Great job. -
Wheres alienware? There notebooks look awsome hands down. That and the acer ferrari, dell xps and compal hel80
-
Actually, I find that Alienware notebooks don't look that good. Their designs are repetitive and bulky. The only thing nice about them are their alien heads
(except some people think they're excessive).
-
Lol well I think there badass
-
Well if we're going on looks without regard to price, you'll also have to throw in there VooDoo, WidowPC, KillerNotebooks, and all the other botique, highly customizeable notebooks with special order paint jobs, stickers, tattoos, etchings, etc.
As for stock notebooks, though, I prefer a clean business class looking notebook such as the HP I ordered recently. What I don't really like is when manufacturers try to make laptops too thin. They get smoothe, rounded edges combined with a thin form-factor, and it feels like I'm picking up a folder instead of a notebook. Feels flimsy. I'd rather have a little bit of heft in there. -
^ya mm like apple
-
I still say HP. Simple, modern and pizazz with too much bling. From the classy black imprint to the stylish inlays what's not to like. It has an identity all it's own.
-
Im saying Hp aswell the dv2/6/9000 series, and not just because i own one, ive searched through the net millions of times, and have never personally come accorss a notebook that looks as good. The Imprint finish just does it! 20 out of 10 for looks. apart from HP id say macbooks.
-
i don't like Alienware and other boutique brand, most ofb their notebooks are so bulky, the only interesting thing to look at is the lid, but if you look at them at the sides, they're horrible
Sony's the best, than Asus, maybe
anyone wants to open topic like "worst-looking notebook"??
i think it's fun if there's such thing, as we always seem to care about the best-looking only, and it's hard to tell
but if that's an offense to some people, then.. -
I think Asus, HP and LG make the best looking notebooks out there.
-
CalebSchmerge Woof NBR Reviewer
I still say Asus has it. Sony might be after that, but I only care about #1.
-
ya i like asus laptop designs and some sonys.. but i like the g35 qosmio from toshiba, other than that asus and sony take the cake!
-
dv6000 w/ imprint gets my vote...=p
/thread -
my vote goes to the HP dv6000 with the imprint finish
-
the fujitsu stylistic is great, the P7120 is small and nice. and the Q2010!is great too. the siemens series are close to apple design
the fujitsu brand should be close to sony and apple range imo -
Fujitsu,both series,Stylistic and Amilo are great-looking.
-
hey check out the Asus VX2, great looking notebook. though it does not have the simple elegance that the Q2010 has.
http://www.proportable.com/images/asusensemble/vx2/index.htm -
hm, New Asus Lambo lappy? does look hot but going to be overpriced just like the last one.
Fujitsu, they make the first and best plasmas so maybe they have good screens for their laptops. have heard of them looking good before so may have to check them out but how much are they.
Asus has been too overpriced and so has me rethinking my fav brand for next lappy in going wtih an HP or Sony Vaio for the great deals you can get at chain stores at certain times and they both have decent looks.
i'd rather get something rare like Fujits or great build quality like Asus but just dont want to pay more for a laptop that eventually gets dated and is only so upgradeable.
i doubt Fujitsu is as cheap as you can get an HP or Sony from local chain stores during deal times. -
My vote would go for Alienware if it was up there.
-
NEC Make Nice looking Laptops Id vote other if they had that but ill vote apple as i like the simpleness look.
-
Apple wins without a doubt.
-
Quatre have you even owned a thinkpad for extended period of time? anyway, i think thinkpads and macbook pro's have a refined design that makes it a classic. it's really a timeless design that is well thought out. the sony vaio z1 series really hit the sweet spot with its elegant look and portability. the W3J stands out among the crowd as well. you start to wonder if z1's and w3j's are made by the same design team as rest of their lineup... notebooks such as V6 and W2 looks great at first but you'll easily get sick of it once newer models come out to replace them. that's why _well thought out_ notebooks such as thinkpads, macbook pro's, and z1 + w3j are able to withstand the test of time even after the emergence of SZ and A8 series. oh i almost forgot to mention panasonic semi rugged toughbooks with aluminum casing. they are clearly the result of masterfully refined craftsmanship like the thinkpads and MBP's.
-
i voted for Dell.. cos i got mine with the external carbon finish and i like it pretty much.. for the hundreds of dollars i saved, i can live with that beauty..
HP's imprint finish also looks good.. -
ASUS. Ftw. it has the highest votes.
March 12-
Asus - 131 23.10% -
I voted hp (dv2000/6000 series) for its elegant looks and design...I also like the looks of Sony
-
My Preferences:
Sony, Asus > Amazing units
Apple > On an aesthetic league of its own
Strong Contenders:
Fujitsu > Good form factor, looks
Acer > Great looks, bad build qualities and lifespan -
Apple may have won this poll several years ago, but not anymore. Their Macbook is no match for Sony and Asus designs. I voted for Sony. However there are at least one or two models I like by almost every notebook manufacturer; except for perhaps NEC (at least their Japanese domestic notebooks; all of them look horrible
)
-
I voted for Dell because I love the looks of the e1505/6400 and that family.
-
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
The Asus V6, V1 and the W3.. The best looking laptops I've ever seen. Classy, not flashy, and sleek as hell. The Sonys don't even come close.
-
Vaio's are the sexiest.
-
im thinking not very many of you have held a hel80 in your hands, if you'd have there would be waaaay more votes for it, what a rock solid, great lookin rig, but im biased
brand with best looking notebook
