I recently won a 6560b on ebay with 32 months of warranty left.
I personally like the color of b series and w series for this generation, so I did not even tried to get 8560p.

This is a base model with i5 CPU and no 6470m. Without any doubt, it comes with 768p display which I am not satisfied with.

Though officially, HP does not offer 1080p display, it do have HD+ cable available from partsurfer. I ordered it from alinc.com. It is 18% cheaper and they offer free shipping for orders over 100.

For display panel, I chose B156HW01 V.7. IMO, if you want to do 1080p upgrade for any 15.6 or 17.3 laptop, go with AUO V.4 if you like Matte finish, V.7 if you like Glossy finish. The model for 17.3 panle is B173HW01 V.4 or V.7.

I ordered the panel from laptopscreen.com, a canadian based reseller. MAKE SURE TO ORDER EXACT MODEL. I made the mistake in the beginning, but I am lucky that they currently have the EXACT one in stock. You can creat a support ticket to inquire their inventory status, or leave a note that you want the EXACT one. Once again, V.7 for glossy, and V.4 for matte. They list matte under V.7 entry, but you will for sure get a COMPATIBLE one

After getting the parts, the rest is just some easy body work. Make sure you follow maintenance guide from HP. You do have have to take off the whole display assembly, but you have to to get access to the mainboard, so at least you have to take off D side enclosure. You can take out the only cable by taking off the left hinge cover

And after you switch to V7 (i believe it is AUO B156HW01 v7) - what about power consumption - means how long now you can work with new panel on battery in compassion with old panel. Accordingly to panel spec - it takes approx. 11.5 Watts max. if i am not mistaken (for AUO) when the old panel (if it is LG) takes 5.73 Watts (for LG LP156WD1 TLB1). Thanks

I do not think power consumption is a big issue.
this one can still give me about 4 hour battery life. I remember Power Assist gives me an estimate of around 10watt when i do just web browsing.
