    Hello,

I have an NC2400 and I think about to buy an 2510p motherboard and replace the motherboard in the NC2400. Is it possible to do it?

My basic motivation is that I hate the touchpads and I can get an 2510p mb for quite cheap. If the keyboard and other stuff would be compatible with new mb, I would do it.

    Opinions?

The 2510P uses a LED-backlit LCD. The NC2400 uses CCFL. This *might* mean different video cabling. Not sure.

A 2510P is pretty cheap these days on ebay and if you don't want to use the touchpad, preferring the touchstyk, then can just disable it in the Synaptics systemtray icon.

Hmm, if I can't rid of the touch pad then I would even try to buy an 2530p and try to replace the keyboard from a 2510p or nc2400 to have a trackpoint. Is it possible? I know that the trackpoint uses an own ribbon cable in the nc2400, but I do not find any disassembly guide with photos for the 2530p if it has a similar ribbon cable for the touch pad.

2530P already has a touchstyk (trackpoint). The 2510P/2530P keyboard has a ribbon cable for the keyboard and touchstyk as shown here.

A 2510P goes for $200 on ebay. A 2530P for about $100-$150 more which gets you a webcam, better looks, a faster CPU, better battery life and cooler running temps, and sata interfaces for the optical and 1.8" drives. Either system can be overclocked with my [email protected] 2530P being twice faster than my previous [email protected] 2510P.

Excellent!!!! Thanks! I just missed the black touchstyk on the photos, because it has the same color as the keyboard! Superb, no need to do any modifications. I will target an 2530p.
