So with the old gen you had to run 1lcd vga the other dvi. I noticed the new docks have displayport/dvi/vga. Has anyone run dual (descrete/ not clone view) using the display port + dvi?

I'm looking at a new 8440w and wanted to know if I can finally run 2 lcds off a digital signal.

    Thanks.

I have the Advanced port replicator and 1 24" monitor and 1 22" monitor running of the dual DVI on my 8540p just fine.

The advanced will do it for sure as it has 2x dvi. But the standard dock has 1x dvi 1x display port and 1xvga. Was wondering if the display port was shared with the dvi or totally separate. I'll find out soon enough! Laptop coming in 2-3 weeks.

yep it works. I have one lcd to the dvi and another to the displayport with a dp -> dvi adapter. Running great!

I plugged in a 3rd lcd to the vga port and crossed my fingers, windows recognizes it but wont enable all 3, video car limit.
