    Hi,

my 8440p gives me some headaches with its graphics performance:
the mouse pointer sometimes stucks, window minimizing, maximizing
and scrolling is very slow, videos are sometimes freezing for a few
    seconds etc.

    Configuration:
Windows XP SP3 (up to date)
    Core i7 640
    4 GB RAM
    nVidea NVS 3100

I´ve installed all the latest HP drivers and already tried several versions of
the nVidea drivers they offer on their website, and finally installed the Verde
drivers directly from nVidea (266.58), but the problem persists.

It feels like the graphics hardware is somehow conflicting with other drivers
or hardware, but i can´t see any error in the device manager or in the event
    log.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks
    Heinz

    Hi,

does noone have an idea which parameters to tune here? In the meantime i don´t believe that it´s the nvidea driver - i tried several versions.

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks
    Heinz

    hiya,

i would check to see if anything is maxing out the CPU, when you start up.

windows 'sticking' and suchlike occur when the system is maxxed out.

it could be an application that is playing up causing the system to lock up like that.

on my old NW8440 i had a similar issue in xp, it was one of the old HP applications sitting on 100% CPU, which caused the rest of the system to appear laggy.

    I'd do a ctrl+alt+delete to see if it's that.

    ------

otherwise, i would check for your chipset drivers, and also if your hard drives are running in sata or IDE mode.

sometimes under xp, this can cause lag in the system as well if you don't have the right drivers running.

report back and let us know.
