Amazing what a guy can come across these days with connected friends...
    :)

Are there any benchmarks that folks want run on this? I managed to find most of the drivers, including the vid card.

Some CPUMARK screenshots added. 8470 with Ivy Bridge Core i7 on top, core i5-2540M for comparison on bottom.
Definitely some room for further optimization on the Ivy Bridge I think. Seems too low to me.

This is just an incremental update, but I'm curious to know if HP figured out how to implement switchable graphics in their proprietary BIOS and if they will offer better HD+ screens this time around.

I couldn't agree more. That is the first thing I was looking for when I got my hands on it. Man I wish they would just add the backlit to all the Elitebooks.

Again I agree as well. This model has 1368x768. Would love to see a higher res.

    8460P offered a 900P LCD option so a 8470P should too.

Wonder if the systemboard from a 8760P can be dropped straight into a 8460P? Better yet, will a IVB CPU work in a SB notebook? I've read it won't that's as expected. The vendors wish for users to do system updates.

Is the screen any better than the one on 8460p? Brightness/contrast/viewing-angle wise?

I honestly can't say. The only comparison I have here is my 2560p. Compared to that, yes it is brighter and also slightly better viewing angles.

Is this the UMA configuration or does it have discrete GPU? Can you confirm if switchable graphics is available?

UMA. Only thing I can find is the Intel HD4000.

What about the USB 3? The only photo where they're shown seem they're normal 2.0 ports...

There are two USB 3.0 ports on the left side. They are also indicated in Device Manager.
Here is a picture of them with the USB 3.0 logo.

I think the question is whether a IVB will be a significant performance increase over a SB.

Wow, nice to have friends in the right places indeed!

    Can you run:

Futuremark's PCMark Vantage: Futuremark - world's most popular benchmarks and PC performance tests - Benchmarks - PCMark Vantage - Introduction

Futuremark's PCMark 7: Download PCMark 7 - Complete PC test for Windows 7 | PCMark

    Futuremark's 3D Mark 2011: Download 3DMark 11 | 3DMark 11 – The Gamer's Benchmark for DirectX 11

If you're able to download those either run the trial version to generate a score or PM me and I can provide keys for Pro version to unlock them.

I'll download those when I get home. The video card benchmarks won't be any good because I am using regular VGA drivers right now. The Intel HD 4000 has some drivers out in the wild but they are password protected... :(

Just use the Intel HD/HD3000 driver but mod in the HD4000 PCI ID into the INF file. Should give you a good indication of performance then.

I managed to get some older HD 4000 drivers installed properly.
I've added a screenshot from PCMark 07 on the first post.

I've also taken some shots of the internals while replacing the HDD with an SSD.
Those pics are now added to the first post.

I'd appreciate it if you may run 3dmark06 and 3dmark11 on the HD4000. I'm eager to know if there is any big difference between HD3000 and HD4000.

Can you do a two way swap the CPU from the 2560P and 8470P and advise what happens? Ie: Does the 8470P's Series-7 chipset work with a Sandy Bridge CPU (likely) and does the 2560P's Series-6 chipset work with a Ivy Bridge CPU (less likely)?

Quite a few ppl are eager to know what the result of this test will be.

could you run Cinebench 64 11.5, OpenGL and CPU? Thanks.
I wonder why you get those huge improvements from sandybrigde. Ivy should give about 10% from i7 2620m, which brings me about 3.500 points in PCMark and 4200 CPU Score in PerformanceTest7 and my 8460p,

I'll see what I can do over the next few days.

I'm probably going to be selling it locally in the near future so I am trying to get all of the various benchmarks run beforehand.

No thunderbolt support? Hey Nando, is the Elitebook 2760p tablet a PGA socket? That would be interesting ... swap in a 35W quad and external graphics through the PCMCIA card.

Would be nice but unfortunately the 2760P offers only a soldered CPU. The IVB successor should offer a low end 35W soldered quad-core but expect to pay a premium over the dual-core i5/i7 parts for that performance.

i can't believe intel hd 4000 now beats amd A8 igp.

and this hd4000 is going into all next gen Core !! Intel is going to give you kickazz cpu power and good enough gpu to play games decently

I was hearing all along that Ivey bridge and Trinity were going to bring some great integrated graphics that will beat A8 igp and maybe even come close to the performance of gt540m and 6650M dedicated graphics.

But I will be really surprised if they beat the later gpus. This is what makes owning newer laptops worthwhile.

What about the EC2C slot? Is it driven by PCIe 3.0 x1 bus? Or is it still 2.0?

    Nah, only 2.0. I found it :(

just wondering, I got an HP EliteBook 8470p just a week back. I noticed one thing, the spacebar on the notebook is pretty much insensitive. If I tap on the spacebar on the left or right sides, the spaces are sometimes not registered. Is this a problem everybody else is facing? or is it just me :( . I still feel that the keyboard on the 40 series was more responsive.
