Hello all! I have an HP 8510p laptop, that was purchased 2nd hand, with a nasty looking monitor, that has me stumped.

When I first received it, and booted it up, there were 2 vertical lines running all the way down the left side of the screen. Contacted the seller, and a complete replacement screen was sent out. While waiting for the replacement to arrive, the original screen started to fade to white, like clouds rolling in. If the screen is flexed by hand a certain way, it looks completely normal, when let go, it immediately fades back to white.

The replacement screen arrives, I hook it up, and it does the same thing...fades to white.

Whats the chances of the replacement 2nd LCD screen, having the same problem?

External monitor works great.....which should rule out the video card.

Here is a video I found on youtube...very similar to what I'm experiencing: Hp 8510p display problem - YouTube

Was wondering if any other owners of the 8510p have had any LCD problems like this?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I've seen similar happen with a bad LCD Cable.

Thanks for the reply KLF. I tried bending the original cable around, with no luck in getting a good connection...also tried that with the replacement screen which did come complete with a flex cable and converter...still no luck. Thinking there might be a problem with the flex cable connector, on the motherboard...although upon inspection, I didn't see any bent pins, e.t.c.
