Hello,i just bought a basic model of the 8530p notebook, model number :FU455EA, but i want to upgrade it.
This is what i want to do:
-upgrade wxga lcd to wuxga lcd
-change p8600 cpu with a quad core es (q9000-q9200)
-upgrade mxm hd 3650 to a fx 770
-change the hdd with sdd (that's not a problem i think)

there will be problems doing this changes?
lcd upgrade is plug and play?need to change inverter or cables?or just need to buy the panel (on ebay for example) and put it on?
changing mxm should not be a problem, but i need to upgrade the heatsink?(there is the kit for quad cpu and nvidia gpu) or can leave the original?
i think my motherboard is the Montevina, upgrading the cpu will give me no problems on vcore?
    Thanks for your help!!

Heres a way to check if your screen cable is compatible with WUXGA screens:
    -dismantle your LCD
-unplug the the cable, usually taped to the back
-hold the end up to the light or peel back the transparent yellow tape around the connector to the screen.
-the space between the metal woven tape and the actual connector is where the wires are. They need to fill the width of the 30-pin connector completely, meaning actually have all 30 wires (WXGA does not require 30 wires, but uses the 30-pin connector anyway)

Some WUXGA screens use 40-pin connectors, but any should work and some use 30. Although you should do research first as quality varies between manufacturers.

this does NOT apply to LED LCDs!
they all use tiny 40 pin connectors.

You should definitely try getting an fx 2700m. The performance is a lot better. They have an HE tab, but I think it will work considering there is a model without the HE tab made for the 8530p 8530w. I recommend this because the HE tab recently has been proven to be less necessary than previously thought. The version you should get is for the 8730p 8730w and dont pay much more than 150 for it ;)

You can leave the old heatsink and fan kit. It will almost definitely not overheat initially, but you should consider getting the other set if it gets hot under load

thanks for your answer,i was on holiday for some days so i couldn' t answer.
i'm sure the lcd wuxga that is sold for 8530w/8530p will fit then without any problem.i will not buy a led lcd, just one of those sold on ebay as replacment of the original one.wxga really suck,it has really a small res!
about the vga..i dont think the fx2700m will fit on my laptop,i'm pretty sure the the 770 will work without any problem because it's sold with the 8530w and the motherboard is the same, but i think it's not the same of the 8730w :/
    anyone has tried that already?

You shouldnt buy an advertised replacement LCD if you want to save money. there is a 99% chance that ALL CCFL WUXGA 15.4" you can find will work and fit perfectly. You shouldnt have to pay more than 150 for it remember you do need a new cable or you'll have to do this: The WXGA to WUXGA LCD cable mod PT2 - seen here first!

I agree wxga do suck :p i'm using one cause I cant figure out how to use my WSXGA+ 15.4" led lcd LOL so you're right that wasnt a great idea.

the fx 2700m idea is also not a good one for you, sorry to suggest it. the thing being that it IS sold with the 8530w! there is a version specifically sold with it and a related part number, but all that is very rare. The one from the 8730w I really do believe would work electronically but I dont think it would physically youre right. No one has tried it before. In the future i am very keen on figuring this out so I'll keep everyone here posted ;)
the hardest part may be finding the original fx 2700m vbios...

You should be able to find an fx 770 pretty cheap though, search for NB9P-GLM or NB9P-GLM2 and fyi its actually the same as a the 1700, so you can flash it to the vbios if you find it. or simply overclock it.

thx for reply again ;) i've just ordered new hd,1 seagate momentus xt 320gb ,ssd is too expensive for me atm.if this hd will be to slow,i will buy an other 1 and build a raid 0.
i bought also 2gb ram more,2 gb is really not enough for vista.
    next thing is to buy thx fx770 mxm and the lcd.i agrre with u,i will not buy the original replacment part.on ebay there is a big reseller,i will buy video card + lcd wuxga for 8530w/p for less then 200€ (something like 250$);
with something like 1000 euro i will have a good notebook,in same configuration is sold like 3 times more here in italy!
i will write here when uppgrades are done!
