    Hello,

I'm decided to buy an elitebook. The decision I have to make now is which one.

First of all I searched differences between p and w lines but I can't find any sustancial. I know the w is for workstation, but will be a noticeable difference between them in performance? Are both of them stetically the same?

The other thing is I'd like to upgrade the Elitebook to and SSD harddrive. I don't want to spend $600 in one, so I think I will buy a SSD up to 128Gb, so I'd like to have a dual drive SSD+HD even if I have to remove the optical drive.

The question I have is, for this proposal which one is better? could I keep the optical drive in the 8540?

I will usually move the laptop between home and the office. Which one would you recommend me?

I've seen now in ebay there are 6930p for $450, do you think they are worthy or is better spend $300 more in a 8440/8540?

    Thank you very much.

The w line come with professional GPUs. The p line offers both integrate and discrete graphics. Generally the w series offers higher end upgrades, though you of course pay for those higher options. Also, the w series comes in gun metal gray color while the p series is silver.

I'm pretty sure 8540 cannot physically accommodate a second drive and an optical drive. So both 8540 and 8440 will sacrifice optical for the second hard drive.

Regarding price, if you can buy a 8440 or 8540 for $750, I'd say that's a great deal.
