I tried searching the forum, and found many people mention it being possible, but i was curious...has anyone swapped graphics cards in the 8540w? Specifically, the fx880m to the m5800?

I am going to order an m5800 as well as a 120w ac adapter, but wanted to know if anyone successfully replaced the 8540w gpu?

    Thanks!

if it is a part designated for the 8540w there should be no problems.

Make sure the heatsink for the ATI is ordered as well, as a lot of the heatsinks between nvidia and ATI are DIFFERENT for our models.

I have changed a 3800M to a ATI firepro on the 8740w, wasn't difficult, but i did need the ATI heatsink to do it.

You will need some spare cpu paste also.

    Hope this helps!
