I just got a new 8540w and it sure is a nice machine. Otherwise it seems to be working nicely, but the integrated microphone doesn't co-operate.

Everywhere windows says everything is ok, but nothing records thru the mic. Please tell me I have missed some setting and I don't have to get it repaired! :p
    Anyone else had this problem?

I tried the microphone boost and some other settings, but didn't work. My usb webcams microphone works fine if I plug it in.

    Thanks in advance! :)

I have an 8740w instead of an 8540, but just in case they're similar enough... you have it set to record from the "Integrated Microphone Array(IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)" and not the "Microphone (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)" right? The second actually refers to the microphone jack, and not an integrated microphone. Actually.. if you didn't order yours with an integrated webcam, it might not actually come with an integrated microphone; I'm not sure about this, though.

Thanks for answering. Yes I was wondering if the array is the right one. I have set it default recording and communications device. And it comes with the webcam.

The microphone array shows just fine in windows and but when recording the volume meters don't move a bit. Maybe I should check the wirings under the keyboard.
