Hi,
I have a single issue on my 8560W where, if the laptop is completely shut down, and I start it up. The notebook will hang after posting with a black screen. If, on the other hand, I F10 it at post, and then immediately exit the BIOS without changing anything, the notebook will then proceed to boot up as normal and go into Windows.
If I sleep my computer then log back in or restart my computer I do not encounter this problem. It is only when I start up from a cold shut down.
It doesn't bother me all that much as I only truly shut down the PC once a week or so, but it just seems weird. Otherwise the laptop is almost perfect.
Any help is appreciated!

could the problem be a device plugged to your notebook via usb/firewire.. ? something that could be a bootable device, thats causing the problem ? might explain why only a cold boot shows the symptoms.

do you have a SSD?
I had exactly that Issue with a Crucial m4, which wasn´t initialized fast enough.
was at that time a know bug in the m4 firmware, Crucial confirmed that.
Actually I don´t know if it has been fixed in the meantime - I use another kind of SSD in my actual notebook, the m4 is now in a collegue´s notebook.
so in my case it was really not the HP notebook, which was faulty, but the SSD initializing time - the BIOS was just too fast
