    Hello,

Having recently upgraded my router to 802.11ac, I decided to also upgade the internal WiFi in my EliteBook 8560w. It soon became obvious that I'll need to work around the BIOS whitelist to get this card to work properly. Does anybody know if a modified BIOS exists? My card is the Intel AC1200 (7260HMW). It's only 2x2, but that's still faster than 3x3 at 802.11n speeds.

If it's of any help to finding the proper BIOS, my 8560w had the AMD FirePro graphics and DreamColor LCD.

    Thank you,

As I saw earlier, HP workstations have RSA signed BIOS, what means, that any change in binary code would lead to "laptop's death" - in theory. But on practice we could receive different result. If the BIOS could be restored easily - you should try to edit whitelist with hex editor.

I have a 8570w, found that it no longer requires HP specific wireless card (HP SKU).

For 3G card, the BIOS still has white list control mechanism.

Maybe you 8560w is similar, maybe you can try 802.11ac card and share the result.

    I'd tried a intel 7260 ac on my 8560w.

    And I got this message.

    Wireless Module not supported ..

No mod bios for workstions, period. And HP stop whitelisting only after ivy bridge, so don't think is possible.
