I have not heard of any 8560w tracking numbers yet. I ordered mine the second day they were available and hp keeps postponing it ine day at a time. I have had an estimated delivery everyday this week, but still no ship date!
-
CostCentral is reporting 48 in stock right now. That's the 8560w XU085UT preconfig. I ordered mine on May 24. My current ship date is July 9. If they don't make it, I'm cancelling.
-
Clarification: if you read the last post in isolation, you might think that I was talking about a ship date with CostCentral. As prior posts note, I made my order through the HP SMB online store.
-
Ordered a custom one direct through HP on June 3rd. It originally had a June 23rd delivery date, which changed to a delivery date of July 6 (and is still showing that). However on Monday, my credit card was charged for the laptop, so that must mean that it's being shipped soon...no word on tracking #'s or any change in status on my order page.

In case anyone's wondering, i just received my 8650w (XU083UT)which I ordered it last friday. So far everything seems good.

Thanks a lot! Looking to order that particular model myself.
-
I just ordered mine with Dreamcolor, but please let's see some pics.
-
Just posted a little mini review in the main section.

-
I ordered 07 July 2011, status says it's now in production planned for delivery 09 Aug 2011
-
-
Yes, HP Direct.
I got the 8560w with Dreamcolor -
what the ..., just saw the website update my order to an estimated delivery of Aug 4.
-
Edited:
My ship date is still the 23rd of July. I ordered mine on 6/26. -
Mine is custom, ordered 6/3, now showing 8/5 delivery date.
-
So, it seems all our orders have been moved to primo-August.
-
I'm thinking of just cancelling my order soon and just going through CostCentral.
I already ordered a carepack with the custom order, and have the "Register your laptop" email already, so i'm assuming it wouldn't be a problem to just cancel the laptop portion, then keep the CarePack and register it on the CostCentral model I get? -
But can you cancel at hp direct if the order is in production.
-
My custom order got bumped to August too after numerous lies and mis-truths from HP. I'm thinking of cancelling and ordering from Cost Central (XU086UT). That would mean 2630QM (6mb L3) instead of 2820QM (8mb L3), and M5950 instead of Q2000M. Will be a workstation repolacment running 2 external screens through docking station. Mostly CAD, GIS, and some 3d apps. No for gaming. Any thoughts on whether I wait for the 2820, or just order the cost central and have it tommorrow...

I just got off the phone about an hour ago and asked to cancel my order. I am a little sad, but my W520 is ordered and will be here tomorrow.
I am very surprised that the rep never tried to keep me as a customer. I had a fully loaded 8560w with DC custom ordered. They said the cancellation may take 48 hours to get approval, so we will see. I said I was not accepting delivery on a product that is over 2 months late. I am sure the credit card company will be on my side if I have to dispute. -
Hmm, my order has been moved forward from 09 Aug to 26 July, so I'm not complaining, my sales rep says it should arrive before that date.
-
Hope your Lenovo works out. I'm may use that option down the road. -
Just canceled my custom 8560W and decided to go a little bigger and get a pre-built 8760W from CostCentral.
Going for the XU099UT which is Dreamcolor and the FirePro combo; CC has over 40 in-stock!
I did notice the XU099UT on HP's site comes with Dreamcolor and the CC site doesn't list it, the rep at CC said they do go off of basic specs which are sometimes not fully there, but did confirm that the model numbers are exactly the same as theirs and the one on HP's site, so if for some odd reason the one I get doesn't have a Dreamcolor screen, I can call HP and get a replacement. -
Also just canceled my custom 8560W and went with a 8760W (XU099UT) from CostCentral. Great idea Rukes.
-
Anyone get a tracking number with HP yet?
-
Just got my 8760W (XU099UT) from CostCentral and I can confirm it DOES have a DreamColor screen AND a backlit keyboard, so the CostCentral website does need updating...trust the specs on HP's website!
-
Not yet, mine will ship 19 Jul (hopefully).
-
I just ordered from Costcentral. I payed $190 more for a little better model.

Ordered a preconfigured model (XU084UT) and a 3 yr on site service on May 26 and promised by June 11. Learned from this forum about the shortage--absolutely no info from HP. After getting nowhere fast over the past month+ with several phone calls, I ordered from PC Connection Express at 8:00 pm and received my order the following morning. That unit had keyboard issues (3,e,d,c did not work; HP tech support said give the drivers some time!). PC Connection exchanged and delivered a functional unit the next day.
Went to register the 3 yr service pack and told that the HP rep sold me the service pack for a different unit and this would take a few days to remedy as "different departments are involved".
I am surprised and disappointed with HP Small business. Even the smallest online retailer to one of the largest like Amazon will tell you if even a $2.00 gadget is in stock and will provide a reasonable estimated ship date. Why is this so complicated for HP?
This was our first experience buying a PC as we have had Apple products for years. I do not mean to evoke an evangelical debate between the two platforms, but we have been nothing short of pleased with the prompt and competent response to any issue with our other Apple products, whether on-line or in-store. HP appears neither capable nor inclined to provide a similar service. I understand that Apple has fewer products so it may be easier to keep a tighter reign over its operations. But, it is apparent from their behavior that the larger market for Windows based products gives outfits like HP have little incentive to improve its customer service.
I was so frustrated that I considered (irrationally) getting a MPB, but realized that it made little sense to run Boot camp/parallels 90% of the time (this laptop is for an engineering program).
I apologize for the mini-rant...this process has been a bit frustrating. Bottom line: if you can accept a pre-configured model, call someone other than HP. It is my fault for not strongly considering other options first, reasoning that if I purchased from the manufacturer I may receive better service down the road. -
lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
I have purchased 5 Elitebook products from HP SMB over the past year and the last two experiences were as bad as both of yours (and so many other posts) and led me to stay entirely away from HP SMB indefinitely. Though some will have better experiences, yours are distressingly common dealing with this division. Ironically, HP's consumer division now provides far better (and really quite good) support overall than their SMB division. Also, quality control on their vaunted "Elitebook" series is worst of all of their product lines, though once you get one with everything working, iit usually stays that way and you then have often the best machine in its class.
One important caveat about buying from resellers vs. HP SMB: I never found a single reseller that would accept a return without charging a hefty restocking fee, whereas HP SMB offers a 30-day, any reason or no reason, return for full refund. Because I don't trust the quality of the products, I was never willing to lose that option. The resellers' policy doesn't even obligate them to replace a DOA unit with a new one; if they want to try to fix it (getting them warranty service revenues from HP), it's their option, not yours, and your only option is a return and a 15% or so restocking fee, which can really sting at these prices.
The biggest frustration about HP has always been that there products are so dammm appealing but quality and support so often tarnish the experience. Took me 6 of these experiences before I decided to "boycott" them. I try not to even look that closely at their new models because I don't want to be tempted. -
According to Fedex, I'll be getting mine on Tuesday. I ended up canceling with HP and going with Cost Central. I was able to get one of the last computer before they went out of stock.
-
good luck trying to get anything from HP...XU083UT config estimated ship date (ship date, not delivery date...) is 8/16/11
-
I've got my preconfig 8560w XU085UT. It does have the backlit keyboard. This preconfig does not have the dreamcolor. I figured I didn't need it. I was right. For me, the "regular" screen is great.
-
Found out HP doesn't have replacement DreamColor screens for the 8760w yet, so my laptop is unrepairable. So it's DOA with CostCentral and going to get a replacement, so i'm crossing my fingers it works well...so if yours is fine, I think I will feel better -
Sad to say that I just canceled the XU083UT that I ordered directly from HP; I was really looking forward to this laptop.
However, the Dell Precision m4600 I just ordered has an estimated delivery of July 27, and I need the laptop before August 4th.
I originally placed the order on June 13, and after contacting HP, was told that the ESD was now August 5! (previous ESDs of June 30, July 6, July 20, July 25, July 27). -

Cancelled my HP direct and reordered through CDW and got it next day.
