    Hello,

My 8560w will arrive in a couple of days now and I would want to upgrade its HDD to an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD. Since the SSD is quite expensive (I want to buy the 240GB version) and has known compatibility issues it would be nice to know what experiences have you had with 8560w and SandForce SSDs before buying one.

So, has anybody been using a SSD with their 8560w ? If you did what were your experiences ?

Does the Sata 3 work at full speed ? Are you using a Marvel or SandForce based SSD ?

    Any detail would be welcome.
    Thank you.

I'm using an Intel 510 128GB. Works wonderfully, and I'm pretty certain that it's running at SATA III. Only anecdotal verification - no real testing yet.

Thank you for the info. Nice to know the 8560w works ok with the new Intel 510 SSD.

I am leaning into buying that one for stability, but the IOPS and the perfect random access performance of the SandForce SSDs are making it harder to choose.

I just got today a Extrememory XLR8 Express 240GB (Sandforce 2281), just using it in my 8530p instead of a Crucial C300 128GB, until the new laptop 8560w arrives middle of the month

Does anyone know any SSD with "data protection" like intel 320 Series but with SATA III interface .. and over 240 GB of space ?

I have bought a Kingston HyperX 240GB SSD for my 8560w (Sandforce 2281)
Works flawlessly until now. I have it for about one week and it didn't yet generate any BSODs. Hope it will continue to work well.

Got my first BSOD lasy night when plugging in the power cord.
After reboot the SSD couldn't be found. Had to shutdown and power up again.
Will see if I can stress the SSD by going to sleep and resuming multiple times in a row.

Looks like the HyperX isn't free of the issues that plague the other Sandforce 2281 SSDs.

sofar everything ok with the XLR8e... on my 8530p I had do deactivate LPM via script because of freezes, but no BSOD.

And on the 8560w sofar everything ok.

    Hi,

I'm running a Crucial m4 128GB (Marvell 9174-BLD2). Zero issues in about 2 weeks of use; machine has an i7-2630QM & 16GB RAM.

Crucial just released new firmware (0009) - a comparison to the last version:

The 256GB & 512GB models offer better write performance, but I'm very happy with this drive! :D
