    Hey All,

So after reading about the 8460, I decided I'd rather have something with a better screen. I'm on the go a lot (train, planes, trips etc) and I also use my laptop in classes when I'm away etc. All in all I need something that can handle just about anything. For me, the biggest feature I want is the ability to watch videos and movies and some gaming (though I reformed the habit I do like to play every now and then).
Also I have everything networked both at home and in the office. I currently have a HP Pavilion 6500CTO which has been repaired many times by HP. The warranty is finally up and the plastic is gone yet again, so I decided time to go with a business laptop.

While I'd love a i7 quad, I don't' want to sacrifice the battery life (i need about 6hrs).

Should I go with the 8560p with discrete graphics or wait for the w? The W is .25 inches wider than the p. Currently, my laptop is 15.4 inches but 14 inches wide. I already am worried about jumping up to 14.76 wide. But I like the idea of the back lit keyboard.

What are your thoughts? Also is the 8560 portable (not ridiculously heavy and just have a good feel on your lap or on the plane)?

    Thanks,

    Josh

defintely going for 8560w if you need an IPS panel with high performance

but that of course costs much more

Do I need IPS? I do occasional gaming (I built an incredible gaming rig so this is only for when I travel) and for watching movies and tv shows on my laptop (again when I travel).

Also, do you think the extra weight and width is noticeable as compared to the p? Is it worth it just for the backlit keyboard?

You don't need ips but it's nice to have. Going tots u a few hundred extra though. The regular display is pretty decent. See my review on here.
The 8560 is big enough. Any extra weight would suck heh

If intgrated graphics is available combined with discrete(Optimus, etc) then you can hit 5-6hrs even with a quad core CPU. See the review of the Lenovo W520 on this site.

Yeah after looking at Yoshi's photos I think the 8560p is the way to go.

Here's what I'm planning on buying:

glad i was able to help.
I recommend just getting the 1499 preconfig model and adding 4GB of ram yourself. It's what i did. Much cheaper than going thru CTO and a lot faster delivery. Got mine in a week

hmm. I was only gonna get 2gb of ram through them and get 8 from NewEgg (saves hundreds) but I need the 6300 (3x3 wifi). Plus this whole config + nbd accidental 3yr for 1600

paying the extra $30 for the i7Q is worthless right? I don't plan on doing graphic or movie editing. Mainly gaming and movies is what will kill my cpu

Id get whatever is closest to your requirements on a preconfig and getting the ram seperate. You save a bunch and dont have to wait 3-4 weeks CTO

I wanted the 8560p, but the full HD screen is not available, so I will wait for the 8560w.
