I am thinking about doing an upgrade to a SDD from my original factory installed 500gb. Any thoughts/advice you might have before this is done?

    Things I have considered
    1) I have the original Win 7 64 bit that came with the PC.
    2) I have backed up the swsetup folder on from my c-drive to my NAS drive

    3) Take out the old drive and install new SSD
    4) install Win 7 Pro from disk.
    5) use drives on the swsetup folder to complete the install.
    6) update everything, new drivers, SP1, etc.
    7) make image of clean install and save for rainy day

    Have I forgot anything?

    Instead of (5)
go to HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation -  Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center
and download HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation -  HP SoftPaq Download Manager - HP Business Support Center

It will automatically download and install latest needed drivers (6) for you. Pretty much most of them at least. You might need to install network drivers first as the hardware is probably so new that Win7 disc does not have drivers built in.

I have SSD in my dv6 6151ss as well. I recommend you some changes in your computer.

Disable System Restore, Turn Off Page File, Disable Drive Indexin, disable Defrag, disable Write-Cache Buffer Flushing, etc...

Here you have more information (but in spanish because the original one was erased): Guía de optimización de discos duros SSD bajo Windows 7

Anyway, you will find info in google about these changes and why do you have to do it.

Good luck and wellcome to ssd world.
