    Hello all.

I'm considering buying a refurbished 8740w with Dreamcolor screen. Had enough of the TN screens. Color and viewing angles are important to me along with text that is readable and not too small.

So Im wondering if any current owners could tell me how this screen looks at lower resolution settings. Does it retain the nice colors and does text still look crisp and clear? From what I read, some screens look better than others at lower resolutions.
I just returned a Dell Inspiron 17r which had poor washed out colors (TN) and poor viewing angles, but it did scale down nicely to lower resolutions and text still looked crisp and clear.

I know about raising the DPI, but the internet still looks bad with blurry pictures..etc. with zoom enabled, as well as some programs look bad. I had to raise the DPI in my current laptop because it looks absolutly terrible at anything but native.

Thanks for any info you could provide.

WOW - hasnt anyone here tried lowering there resolution?!
Thats the first thing I do when I get a laptop, is play around with the resolution to see how it looks at a lower setting.

I guess you all must be fine with supersmall print and graphics.

I try to live with the small "things" because to have more space is better if you do a lot of things simultaneously ;)

Then I guess its just me then.
I'm still using my 17" CRT with nice color at a res of 1280 X 720.

I'm not one to multi task on my home computer.
Just wish they made a 17" IPS laptop screen with lower res.
This day and age they should all be IPS panels, its 2012 for cripes sake.!

With the 8740w I'd have to use the internet zoom to be able to read, ....and we all know how the internet looks when you zoom in.....

Thats why I was asking if anyone could tell me how this screen looks at a lower res - because some laptop screen scale down nicer than others.
