Ok, so I LOVE my non-dreamcolor 8740w. It's pretty much maxxed out in every way:

    - i7 920 2Ghz
    -32GB ram
    -1TB SSD
-upgraded GPU to Nvidia Quadro K5000M with 4GB Vram

...but what it doesn't have is that lovely Dreamcolor 2 screen.

    HOWEVER...

I have another less 8740w WITH the Dreamcolor 2 screen, though its other specs are considerably lower.

Q1) Is it relatively straightforward to swap over the Dreamcolor 2 screen to my better machine? Is it even possible?

Thank you all for your help!

Yes, it is - get the entire display assembly and install in the other machine. Once installed you’ll need to install Mobile Display Assistant to take full advantage of color spaces and etc.
