As the title says. It is a promising series that's in need of an update.

So far only about 15u on the official page, couldn't find anything around the web. Searched a week ago as well, since the announcement of DELL's 7720 and 5520.

indeed.
Oh, and the Zbook Studio G3 also works great with the Akitio Node. I was finally able to get one earlier this month after a three month backorder. Full x4 PCIe 3.0 bandwidth and the machine works well both in Optimus mode and with a display hooked to the external monitor port. -
ZBook Studio now has a huge battery increase - very nice

Even NBR has something -
HP pointing out the ZBook 15 being their best performer in the announcement of the G4 series, but then leaving it even in the G4 version only with 3-year-old maxwell quadros, in 2017.... ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
at least the ZBook 17 is up-to-date...
and when will they finally realize that just a few mid-high-end (and better) consumer gpus would be a giant cash cow for the ZBooks since their main price inflator are quadros/firepros, so opening them up for a broader user scope with cheaper consumer gpus that are still powerful enough (hence mid-high-end to top-end) for professional usage, or just for consumers wanting the best possible notebooks for their consumer usage including gaming, but avoiding their crappy consumer line and its support, would definitelly boost sales...Last edited: Apr 21, 2017 -

this is probably an exception, but eg. i dont need a workstation but would love to have a zbook 15 as my main personal notebook for everyday usage, if it had a consumer gpu, since i want a desktop replacement with best quality and high to top-end performance, tb3, like the zbooks looks and especially its build quality (though it should have a protective screen at the front of the display bezel like the mbp), but dont want HP's crappy consumer line and bad support, or some other brand's flashy gaming notebook that looks like a toy. -
Wholeheartedly agree with you @necrophyte. I miss the days where one could buy gaming laptop without all the bling. Another thing is that I highly value the point-stick and this is non-existent on a non-business machine.
As for the new ZBooks - W4190M is the best AMD? Pass. -
I know that the G4 Zbooks are very new, but at least in prior generations, what are the difference between the Zbook Studio and Zbook 15, aside from the keyboard layout? They both look very similar, and I'm considering both (among a few other options).

Here is a nice video review of the Zbook G4 series, comparing and contrasting each model:
To me, the studio is just getting better and better. If you compare the Precision 5510 and Studio G3, the only real advantages the Precision had was the smaller footprint, larger battery, and ability to take a 2.5 inch hdd. The smaller footprint is nice but it messes up the webcam placement, and makes the whole machine run a little warmer due to less surface area. The larger battery was a definite advantage and I am glad that made it in to the Studio G4. The 2.5 inch drive bay is also a nice advantage, for those who wanted more storage. You could potentially put 6TB (2TB NVMe + 4TB SSD) into the Precision 5510 / 5520.
Then, if you look at the Zbook's advantages, it's an easy choice for me which is better. The Zbook has a much nicer keyboard, i7 configurations without dedicated graphics, full x4 PCIe on the TB3 ports, and ECC memory support for Xeon processors. The keys have more travel, and the keyboard has dedicated home / pg up / pg dn / end keys, placed intelligently. The i7 can run at full performance in the Studio, and drive multiple external displays easily. With the dedicated graphics, the machine runs too warm and much louder, and gets worse battery life unless you micromanage your power profiles. Having x4 PCIe on the TB3 ports gives great performance on the eGPU. Rendering to the internal display via Optimus is possible, and it should help "future-proof" the TB3 eGPU options as more powerful cards become available. For ECC support, I guess its only practical on very error sensitive tasks, but if one of the Xeon's features is that it can use it, it should be available as a configuration option in my opinion. -
Seems simple enough, so the 15 is just a little bigger than the Studio? Other than that, in terms of battery life they seem like they should be near the same, depending on configuration of course. The VGA port on the 15 does make me giggle a little. My Y410P has a VGA port too, and fairly recently I came to the rescue at a facility that had apparently advertised a projector as being available for us with rental. But it needed VGA, and out of over 100 people in attendance I was the only one with a device that could operate it. And I had thought about leaving my laptop home, too.

- max memory 32gb vs 64gb
- 2 memory slots vs 4 memory slots
- ssd only vs hdd+ssd
- more display options on the zbook 15
- quadro m1200m only vs several gpu options
- no numpad vs full keyboard
-...
just compare their datasheets

Does it seem likely that they'd both work with an ASUS eGPU dock? I cringe at the idea of having that ostentatious thing on my desk, but it's the only eGPU, as far as I can tell, that can feed up to 100W over TB3, allowing it to also remove the need for a separate power cable for my laptop at my desk. Whether I ultimately opt for the Studio or 15, I'll be getting one without an internal GPU, so I'm not worried about the system needing more than 100W, as long as the eGPU dock works as advertised.

It looks like the configurator is USA only, I see nothing about the HP ZBook Studio G4 on HP Canada's website so meh. It may be easier to buy it via the configurator, ship it to a friend and pick it up since apparently HP doesn't think Canadians want custom HP laptops???

HP Zbook Studio G4 has been on sale on HP's website !

Hello,
I have a few questions regarding the new HP 4 GEN Zbooks, Specifically the 17 inch.
1) Are those (zbooks) good quality laptop/workstations? again specifically the 17 inch G4. fyi ( I never purchased an HP Notebook before)
2) Does the 17 inch model come with a Dream color display? I didn’t see it in the display option on the HP webpage infact I didn’t see 4K is dream color comparable to 4k or OLED?
3) Is the HP Sure Start Gen32, self-healing PC BIOS with comprehensive encryption, strong authentication, malware protection, data protection, identity assurance, and threat detection and response any good? Or just some gimmick add on? Anyone who has experienced using this security feel free to answer.
4) ) If it is a good utility/software would it interfere with a third part security suite such as Norton Security, McAfee, AVG ect? That is installed on the zbook?
5) I realize these were just announced and may not even be available to purchase yet, I guess any previous owners of a 17 inch Zbook can chime in.
6) Can the Zbook G4 be configured (on the HP) website to have the 500GB 7200RM and a secondary drive SSD? I haven't found that possible am I missing something?
7)how good is HP support?
Thanks in Advance for any answers, advice and recommendations -
Hi
Does anybody know, is there any heat problems with the HP Zbook 17 G4? I am going to swap my Thinkpad P51 to HP Zbook 17 G4, Because tinkpad has issue with the heat. It is heat up very quickly and CPU throttle. I did not find any stress test or any other information about the 17g4. So if anybody have one, can you please post some screenshots with the stress test(Prime95 + FurMark) and CPU\GPU temperature(HWinfo).
Thanks. -
Guys, did any of you got Zbook 15 G4 with a Quadro m2200 card? If so, could you be so kind to provide me with a dump of your vbios? You can use tool like GPU-Z to save it.
Any hints about a Zbook G4?
