All the ZBooks are supposed to let you set up Intel firmware RAID.

In my ZBook 17 G2, the BIOS has a "SATA Device Mode" option which is set to "AHCI". According to the documentation, you have to change it to "RAID" if you want to use Intel RAID. But it doesn't even show a "RAID" option, it only shows the "AHCI" option.

There's also a "Ctrl I Prompt" option which is grayed out. If I could enable it, then I could press Ctrl-I on boot up to enter the Intel RAID setup menu. But I can't enable it since I can't change the "SATA Device Mode" option to "RAID".

I found a post from someone who said they had the same problem with their "SATA Device Mode" setting not showing the "RAID" option. They said that after they took out their SSD drive, then it showed the "RAID" option, so apparently Intel RAID only supports traditional HDDs and not SSDs?

Has anyone ever set up Intel firmware RAID on their ZBook with SSD drives?

After doing some more testing, I found out what causes the RAID option to be missing. My ZBook has the PCIe M.2 Z Turbo SSD Drive. If I disable the "PCIe M.2 SSD" setting in the BIOS, then the "SATA Device Mode" setting displays the RAID and IDE options along with AHCI. If that "PCIe M.2 SSD" setting is enabled, then the "SATA Device Mode" setting only shows the AHCI option for some reason.

So the question is why can't you use Intel RAID if you have the PCIe M.2 Z Turbo SSD drive enabled?
