Does everyone order right from HP? I'm slightly tempted to order from Newegg but I'd like to get a 3 yr warranty.

you could check with newegg they may offer their own or the HP warranty.
If not I believe you can purchase the extended warranty from HP even if you didn't purchase it from HP, I did this with a DV7 purchased from a different online retailer. -

The EliteBooks (at least W series) should come with a 3 year warranty, standard. If you're buying the same model as is on HP's site, the warranty will be the same no matter where you buy it.
Many of us are buying from Cost Central right now, because Newegg doesn't have the newest models. -
Buying straight from HP be prepared for a 2 month wait.

But buying from HP is the only way to get a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, no questions asked full refund. I don't think any of the resellers offer this, or anything close. These are temperamental products, and that comfort is well worth the wait, if you can. Another downside may be pricing. Some of the pre-configured reseller models may be better priced than HP CTO, even after negotiated discount. If you do buy from HP, definitely do it over the phone, and if you are not offered at least a 25% discount (check with people who have bought recently for an update to that % discount, as my knowledge is from last year's pricing), say goodbye and call again for a more flexible sales rep.

Hello, one of the best place to find great dela is ebay; generally speaking US offer the best deals than Europe. It depends where do you live in.
I have buyed a second hand (with some months from its buying) elitebook from Austria and the savings for that top configuration was high; the same elitebook would be priced: 2500.
Another great source is the deal offered by the twitter account and HP newsletters if you have the patient to wait for them.
Best place to buy a new elitebook?
